posted a message on Off-hand WW barb
The way this works is your tornado damage (which is a huge portion of your damage as WW barb) is decided by your main hand weapons damage (which is influenced only by your main hand weapon plus ANY stats you have like str, crit dmg, etc.). So what ends up happening is you can equip an off hand with high str, crit dmg, etc. As long as the amount of stats you gained from changing off hands increased your damage overall for your main hand (it gets complicated if you did not increase BOTH strength and crit dmg, since they both affect dmg of tornado) - then you will end up with more overall tornado damage and theoretically more overall actual dps.

Your character screen shows the dps number for your dual wield attacking series - which is mainhand then off hand, repeat. So you will end up seeing the effective damage you'd be doing if you attacked with say, bash. But tornado spec is different. As I mentioned your main source of damage is main hand (+influence by stats) only - tornado. I have yet to test this but let me run something by you:

Alkaizer uses a 1k dps main hand, and 300 dps off hand. My on screen dps is the same as his (almost) - but I am using two 1k+ dps 1h's with worse stats overall for my character. I have watched him grind and his actual kill speed is blinding. Like, significantly faster than mine (and I'm fast). I take that as enough evidence that the off hand theory is correct. That and its been tested that tornado only uses your main hand for attacks. Keep in mind that all your other attacks will suffer if you use this setup with a low dps offhand: bash, frenzy, and whirlwind. Fortunately those attacks are not your primary source of damage in a properly played WW barb spec.

    Hope this helps.
