You just need to find your own right balance. I only run the high EHP because I don't want to use a life steal weapon. You can get by with much less. And obviously, the better your stats, the easier it is. When I used to run 440K unbuffed DPS, I had half my current EHP and couldn't touch MP10 without life steal, and the culprit was the overboard DPS that bit me when Reflect showed up. Otherwise, no problem.
Also, see the "silly" build video I posted in another wizard thread? That is MP10 capable and is neither CM/WW nor Archon. Horribly inefficient, but it works.
Gotta find some sort of balance.

Once you get enough mitigation, you can even drop life steal on your weapon (though having it will make your life so much easier).

I have to go read something intelligent to salvage what's left of my brain.

It's Maghda. Plain and simple. I usually love debates and everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but...
Maghda. Just no. She's a freakin' anthropomorphic butterfly with demon horns and a vaguely human-like body.
Who happened to kill off Cain... WTF?

Honestly, what point does this serve? It's repeating the same thing over and over since launch day.
D1 vs. D2 vs. D3. They're not the same. Even Blizzard already stated it clearly that they're not intended to be the same, so accept the game for what it is or just move on to something else to humor you for the time being and let Blizzard do their thing (whether that's improving the game or adding/removing whatever the heck they want to/from it).
Edit: and by answering, I realize I(Did)GAF.

I don't hate the AH. I can see why it's the "easy way out" or it hurts the grind of the game, which is the whole point—grinding for loot.
However, I do appreciate the AH being there because it's a safe medium for trade so you don't have to deal with potential scammers and 12-year-old babies who can't figure out how much their item is worth. In addition, being able to sell things there (let's just say you don't want to buy things) is such a great way to build up revenue because, face it, even if you trade player-to-player, they're going to want gold at some point or another.
...And not to bash, but this just comes down to D2 vs. D3, which has been wholesomely beaten to death; this is not really simply "I hate AH."
Just stick to talking about the AH. D3 isn't all about the AH. The AH is one property of it, and no one is forcing you to like it, use it, whatever. Once you start saying "D3 isn't my kind of game," I'm just going to start thinking you're biased to begin with, which essentially will lead you to criticize every single aspect of the game that doesn't float your boat.
Well, you did say you didn't like the AH before D3 even came out, so technically you were already biased by the time the game was released.

That's it. No more. I think I'm doing more harm than good right now.
P.S. I blame ruksak.

1. Swap out Electrocute and use WW as your left-click. Replace your your right click as Frost Nova - Deep Freeze.
2. Change Prismatic to Pinpoint for more crit to help with WW since you don't run APoC.
3. Guarantee your Archon will run out anywhere from MP5-10, so that's normal. Spam FN+WW and repeat Archon.
4. Take out Glass Cannon to retain your EHP. See #9 for Cold-Blooded option.
5. Get more all resistance on your gear. Kill your Tal Rasha helm and save up for a crit Mempo.
6. Get a rare ring with better stats than your Hellfire Ring (save it for leveling purposes only).
7. Get a Tal Rasha's chest with bonus armor, all resist, or high life %.
8. Because your Archon will expire fast (2 minutes tops) on high MPs, get rid of Galvanizing Ward and add in Evocation to further reduce the cooldown, or Blur if you're worried about survival.
9. Bring a Scoundrel and equip him with a Buriza with Multishot and max IAS gear, and then you can use either Anatomy (for bonus crit) or Hysteria (for constant damage boosts). If you equip Buriza, replace Glass Cannon with Cold-Blooded (see #4).
I got rid of life steal on my weapon because I have huge damage mitigation (over 900 resist and nearly 4,000 armor along with over 100K HP). So much that not even Reflect can kill me (unless it's combined with Vampiric + Extra Health on Phasebeasts). But the new Reflect is even easier, so I'm no longer using my life steal weapon.
Can't say much for requirements. If you're dying, keep upgrading until you don't die as much. Then move from there.

Solution: don't get hacked. Let it be a lesson learned.
