I'm assuming they are going to release a lot of information about RoS and maybe a PTR release date. With the PTR around the corner, where do you see the cost of gear going? Is it going to hold steady even when Blizzcon arrives?
I've been carefully saving my money getting for expac for sometime and now that they dropped the ah, I'm not really happy with it but you gotta roll with the changes. I always held back buying cheaper gear but now I just cut loose and spent a bunch of money on upgrades, I might as well enjoy my gold before it becomes useless. I'll keep some money for crafting, mats, etc. The rest of the money I'll try to cash out to pay pal and I'll probably be stuck with some blizz bucks to buy the expac with.
Maybe you could buy the expansion with you battlenet balance?
Yeah I may have to buy the expac, next expac, and the SC2 battle chest whenever they come out. With the rest of the money I will probably have to buy gold and then sell back again for pay pal money.
When the expac was announced we knew our gear would be obsolete when the expac hits. At least you can sit on your gold or blizz bucks and get back into the game. Now if anybody has put in the effort to get good gear or accumulate lots gold it seems like a waste. Taking away the ah feels a like a reset and a slap in the face for people who worked hard to accumulate gold. What am I missing?
One thing I'm thinking about doing is equipping all my charcs now. Without the ah it won't be so easy anymore to find what you want and with 'smart loot' the finds will be specific for each charc. It's not that much gear to buy since most of the intel and dex equipment can be shared. I'll leave my barb bare since my crusader will find gear for my barb.
I never really liked trading in D2 so once I get some decent gear I'll be farming away.
I saved a decent amount of gold and money in my bnet acct in preparation of getting back into it when the expac hits. What to do with my gold now? Buy up items? Try to sell and cash out to pay pal? What can I do with my bnet money now? Use it to buy future Blizz games...that it? Not happy with this announcement.
I cashed out already, I've just been playing with 300m builds. I couldn't resist though and picked up a 5cc mempo. It was substantially under market value, now I can't decide if I should sell or use it.
I thoughts prices were holding more or less pretty steady but then I looked at cc mempo pricing. A base 3.0cc intel mempo was 150m before expac annoucement, then dropped to 100m and now it's 50m. Are pricing overall in the market pretty down? I sold mine when the expac was annouced and was thinking of picking another one up but am kinda scared that it will go even lower.
My thought exactly, that's why I sold all my gear for a nice profit when everybody was levling new classes for Paragon 2.0
Prior to expansion day i'll just buy some crappy ass gear for 50k/a piece and replace them with nice, neat and ugly(?) RoS gear
I did something similar but not to that extreme. I sold all extra gear and any gear I had worth over 50m and bought something much cheaper(10-30m). All the new gear I bought has extra stats which could be modified by the mystic IF my theroy holds. If they don't let people modify their pre loot 2.0 gear it will be like an elephant dart to the users face.

I did a search and did find one with similar stats except instead of melee damage it has movement speed, so I can assume I can re-roll the melee damage for MS?
Another idea is getting a mempo with 190 main stat, life %, ar, and armor. I could re-roll the armor for cc since the main stat is the standard 170-200 roll.
The random stat in here rolled Int+Vit instead of CC, which gives us the chance to re-roll the Vit to CC (unless there's something hidden in the game-code that remembers the stats which rolled doubly). See?
The random stat is Int/Vit.
What in the world would cause you to believe that you can reroll half of the stat? Of course the game keeps track of each of the individual rolls... otherwise enchanting wouldn't be possible.
Can you explain to me what 1/2 a stat is versus a full stat? Are random stats considered only 1/2 a stat while cc, ias or cd is considered full? What about all resis vs a single resis?
I still have some hope that current BIS will still be usable in 2.0 and expac. For example, I picked up a pretty cheap lacuni with

if the mystic re-rolls a useless stat for 70 ar this is pretty much considered near BIS. You may find better legs with 2.0 but not at the price you can pick up a re-rolled lacuni. Same goes for something like a ice climber. You can get one with high main stat, vit, armor and all you need to do is to reroll a useless stat for movement speed. I think BIS now will be considered mid range gear later and if you can pick one up for <15m now it's a bargain IMO.
So what you're basically saying is you want everyone who has a CC mempo for sale right now to know they should lower their price by a lot so you can buy one for cheap?

Haha, no I'm not trying to control the market. I did pick up a few Andy's incase I am able to enchant it into something decent. I had a cc mempo but I recently sold it and picked up a regular one with high intel and vit. I figure it's a safer bet and it's only a few k dps loss but gives vit. CC mempos in general are getting a lot cheaper ever since the expac annoucement.

Agree Monk's cyclone strike which sucks them together goes great with a lot of builds. It works for Metoer and archon wiz and also wd cloud of bats.

It's won't be BIS but it will be pretty good with an enchantment.
Current costs around 100-500k:
170 intel
4.5cc
9 ias
50 poison resis
5% fire damage
open socket
enchanted
170 intel

70 ar or 100 vit

Worst case scenerio is that you can't change the fire damage but you swap the poison resis for ar or vit. Not bad for something that costs <1m.
