posted a message on PTR Queue stuck?

The clock theory would make everyone seeing the same time though, and accordingly to genral there are players on lower ETA's.
Are you trying to queue for TX aswell by the way? Thinking there might be different queues.

It was a bit of sour sarcasm due to the playerbase exhibiting extreme toxic behaviour in bottlenecking the PTR testing cycle. People are being obnoxious and greedy by never letting their games end and locking 99.9% of the testers out of the new content.

I'm pretty sure it's broken, I've never seen the queue go down (which it should only do). I've been waiting in it for over 24 hours now, it started at about 1h31 minutes wait time and now it's almost a day wait time remaining. It just keeps climbing and never goes down.

I'm thinking it might actually be a clock displaying the time since the PTR went live rather than a queue timer.

Oh, you are so wrong... So very wrong.

Either you have a direct connection to the servers or you have to pass through third party providers, phisycal connections and who knows what just to reach your own machines and each step slows you down. Ever wondered why you have a higher latency if you connect to servers in other continents?
What if the connection does not work? Is it your server's fault or fault of the provider you are using to connect to your server on the other side of Earth?

What if you have to make a complete server backup or a server rebuild? Will you have to use a third party connection to work on your machine?
Having the machine at arms length helps... A lot.

Ok, they do not go physically to the server machines with a cd to install patches, but having a server far away from you is just a nuisance.

And all of that would matter, if the servers existed in a void, but they do not, and as such all of that would have the exact same problem whether the physical machines were located in the US or the EU, barring a few ms of timelag, which is iirrelevant for the purpose of applying builds.

EDIT - I'd just like to add for accuracy's sake, "having the machines at arms length" is a ridiculous statement, the servers are not located at Blizzard HQ where all the devs work on the game builds.. they are located at a server farm in another state entirely surrounded by server techs... the exact same as they would be in the EU. LIke I said, your reasons would make sense if the servers existed in a void.. they do not.

The reason I gave is the only one that matters to a profit making organisation in this instance, take it or leave it, it's the truth. No need at all to have two servers with the miniscule amount of people that actually play PTR. Just eats money.

Simply because that's where developers live. It's much easier to fix issues and apply hotfixes and monitor data when you are very close to the servers instead of across the ocean.

That's not true or even remotely how it works, it's not like they have to physically walk up to the server and push some physical buttons to hotfix stuff. Data travels at the speed of light, a server being in EU or the US has absolutely zero effect on how easy it is to apply hotfixes and "monitor data".

The actual reason is simple, the PTR has a tiny amount of players compared to the real thing, why have multiple servers running and waste money when you can just use one?

posted a message on Rollbacks? Im curious!
    Quote from DarkVoice»

I basiclly do not care about these players but I think they should be fair to all players who exploited. Either Ban or Rollback. Their current punshiment seems a bit to random.
with that said happy looting and farming in Sanctuary

It's not really random at all, Mannercookie got banned because he was blatantly all like "oh yeah I'm gonna stream the shit out of this exploit and spread the word so everyone knows how to reproduce it, nothing will happen to me!" People who do it discreetly are in trouble but people who publicise it like that are basically painting a gigantic ban me target on their face.

However, they wont risk perma-banning all the streamers and high profile personalities that did it, I doubt even Mannercookie's ban will last very long. Blizzard simply get too much free advertisement and interest in their game through these people. Seriously, the amount of money Blizzard potentially saves each year from having random people advertise their games on twitch is astronomical, not to mention the hundreds of new players that buy their games because they saw their favourite streamer playing it.

posted a message on Demon Hunter/Witch Doctor and Monk looking for an active seasonal clan for greater rifts.
Hey guys, we are two active players in a dead clan looking for some active seasonal clan for greater rift progress. We both played for 2-3 months at the start of s1 and then quit until about two weeks ago, we got around 500plvl on our chars during that time (we play a lot).

I will be playing my DH for solo/2man in season 2 and my zDPS Witch Doctor in group play, my friend will be playing his Monk. We are both active players but are being held back by the lack of clan members interested in the game, we are looking for a clan where we can easily find groups of good players to progress greater rifts with and farm T6.

Thanks for reading guys hope to hear from some active clans!

posted a message on Legendary Gem - Efficacious Toxin Explained (Video)
Question - does the DH sentry apply the gem effects to mobs it damages? Since an M6 build very rarely attacks by itself and uses all resources to place the sentries.
