Anyone seeing any evidence of this actually making things a bit easier? i tried act 3 today and still get raped by fire chains with 1200 fire resist, 1shot ftl...
My monk could not tank Act 2 at all before and just tried this morning (only fought 1 champion pack) and tanked it without too much issue. If I stood in desecrator/fire chains etc. or was frozen, I would come close to death unlike act 1 where I can just stand there and ignore everything.
I have about 10.5k armor buffed, 480 resist all, 850 life on hit, 1.8 ish attacks per second.
It feels like act 3 is a lot easier to me now, and my stats aren't exactly impressive. 25.8k dps with force weapon, 34.8k hp, 263-280 in my resists, 2k armor. It does feel like I could afford to drop a bit of vitality now and still proc force armor just fine, whereas before I was kind of riding the line on it. I screwed up 3-4 times on one siegebreaker kill (he picked me up, charged me, etc) and I still came out of it alive. It feels like my health moves a bit more predictably, so I think before I may have been eating a little over the 35% damage from energy armor and now I'm not.
It is WAY easier today. I was doing...ok... in Act 3 yesterday on my Monk. My barb friend and I just finished Act 3/4 and only died a handful of times. 1-shot every boss on the way. We have decent gear though. 800 resists, 40k hp, etc. However, we are melee so I can't speak for what kind of gear you need for Wizard. It is definitely a big nerf though.
I got killed today in Act 2 because I got hit for less than 15% of my life and it didn't reset my Teleport before I got surrounded and killed.
From limited testing, both with my monk friend and solo, it seems like act 2 got significantly easier, but act 3 is still hard. They did what they said they would, and now act 2 is a smaller step up from act 1. Personally I think they overdid it, and made act 2 too easy even with all the annoying ranged units and disappearing snake people.
I was barely tanking act 3 elites before and now, after the patch, I am able to tank act 3 and 4 elites without any issues. The patch drastically changed the damage the enemies deal and it makes a huge difference. This patch has made melee viable.
I play a Wizard with a Barb friend in co-op, and it seemed like he was the one having issues with handling monsters in act 2 inferno. Now, the tables have turned and he's actually staying alive while I'm the one who's dying more often now. I'm not one to skip elite packs just to clear act 2, but at the same time I feel pretty worthless. I'm sitting at 42k health and 26k damage. i was well over 30k damage pre-patch, but I've got 2 IAS items that were obviously nerfed (most importantly my weapon's IAS bonus).
The AH just became a much harder game to play as well, as people are still wanting millions for weapons over 800 dps... yet my repair bills are now 30k+. I repaired twice in a 10 minute span yesterday for a total of almost 60k gold. I don't see the AH being a viable way to gear up now unless you have tens of millions laying around (which I don't).
What is the point of skiping elites, kill belial and reach act3? If I cant handle act2 what will I get in act3 if its harder?
Those jumping bomb throwing lacunis and invisible snakes have given me more grief than any other mobs in game (ok maybe excluding the soul lashers). In all my play throughs I always try to get through act 2 as fast as humanly possible.
yes, act2 is home to the least fun of the whole game. constant mob ambushes, tight quarters with super fast insane damage reviled in sewers. invisible monsters. weeee!
