I just completed NM and have started hell on my Monk. I can't count the number of times I've been 1 hit before even being able to figure out wtf happened. Now I've always been generally a HC player. At this point in time I don't even see somebody being able to make it past NM difficulty. I love how the game is hard(Esp seeing some Inferno streams) But I do think Nightmare/Hell is way overtuned in terms of the direct damage.
What do you guys think so far?
Btw I'm a level52 Monk in Hell with about 30 hours played. Just killed Skeleton King

Considering the amount of people in Hell and inferno... I don't think so.
They have said time and time again. "You will hit a wall and be forced to go back to a lower difficulty to farm gear." They designed the game to be that way on purpose.
I will say that I am a huge, huge fan of the game. I think it's excellent and I'll be playing it as long as I played Diablo 2. (So multiple years)
But I do agree there is some stuff that is a little bit too one-shot'ish... especially when they said their goal for implementing health globes was so that they could make the game difficult without having it be like Diablo 2 where things were just hard because they insta-killed you.
The game has been out for like 72 hours though. I'm already getting better with my character and dying a lot less. You just have to figure it all out and I'm sure Hell/Infero will be do'able in hardcore.
Also, if you remember classic Diablo 2... Hell difficulty was absurdly hard. Not too many people ventured into Hell when playing hardcore. Then the x-pack came out and it became a lot easier since the gear started to overwhelm the difficulty of the game.

It's not difficult to get there, but I'm saying mostly that its overtuned in terms of damage and getting 1 shot. Most of my gear is level appropritate between my drops, friend drops and AH...I'm mostly thinking in terms of HC, nobody will make it past even NM it feels like.
I'm starting my HC character once my monk gets his last 8 levels in SC.

That is true as well, In Act4 Hell I had to redo all of my skills and passives, and It became a lot easier going the dodge route, but the oneshot things seem to be my biggest issue with the other difficulties at this point. Thanks for your response!
Have you stacked any vitality or have you directly went for dexterity, they had said that starting with Hell you'd be wanting to min-maxing around survivability and damage.
In all my honesty, if a Barbarian finishes Inferno in HC that person should be named as the Immortal King or Queen(Haven't really checked whether if they are giving the title for something) as well as gaming god or what not. Its already been a total of 20 times I have died and I'm newly starting ACT III in nightmare mode.

at first I thought nightmare was overbuffed, but then I realized i was pretty low in lvl (I was lvl 27.. when I first went to nightmare, I thought lvl 30 was requirement?)
then I realized I cant stand and tank + slash through eveerything like in normal xD, and it was all good again. Haven't died much, noticed I die very frequently against bosses with frost/arcane if I don't dodge those things.
It REALLY depends on your items. I buy items at the auction house regularly, and I find act III nightmare to be quite a breeze. But I agree there are some things in the game where you just can't avoid dieing. In act 2 I met a champion pack with frozen and jailer, plus a rare pack with waller/arcane enchanted. That's just impossible to escape/kill.
i just ran into a pack of nightmarish illusionist fire construct in Nightmare on my monk. (those sc2 stalker type mobs in act2 that fires massive patches of fire at you). I constantly ran in fear, back and forth across the fire. Once they duplicated, I couldnt do anything because the duplictes missiles also fears you. I think i died 6-7 times on that pack, and i had to use serenity and the heal skill to stand any chance at all. By far the hardest combo yet for me. ranged aoe attack that leaves fire on the floor, duplicates and fears? yes, thats nasty

I can see what you see not. Vision milky, then eyes rot.
When you turn, they will be gone. Whispering their hidden song.
Then you see what cannot be. Shadows move where light should be.
Out of darkness, out of mind. Cast down into the Halls of the Blind
Just go to act4 in nm, no problem with any of the bosses, some nasty affix combos on champions that killed like 4times in a row but thats it, the ONE thing i find overtuned is "Fire Chains"

I make sure all my items are a mix of Vit and Dex
The red fire at his feet. That signifies a hardcore character.
I was slicing butter in normal A4, but when I get to NM A1, I can hardly kill anything.

Until I hit the butcher, now I can't kill him, barely getting him down to half health. I think it's my build, but I'm not sure yet.
