Honestly, yes, this patch is pretty terrible. The game hasn't been super fun the last few days and this might just be the nail in the coffin for me. I can't believe they didn't fix the legendary/set items that have had broken IAS for forever.
Except they did fix those... It's in the notes under Items > Bug Fixes:
Legendary items with the +Attack Speed bonus will now correctly provide a bonus to attack speed
Please note that this fix will only affect new Legendary drops. Existing Legendary items will be addressed in future patch.
But hey, good work on the reading.
OT: Overall this patch seems fine to me. Rebalancing Inferno in-line with their design goal, instead of the near-insurmountable brick wall that it was, is a good change (sorry to all the elisits who feel that it is their entitled playground that nobody else can come in to... we paid the same for the game, our luck with gear has just been worse).
whos not doing the reading????? read the quote you quote, NEW DROPS ONLY, DOES NOT AFFECT EXISTING ITEMS
If your entire build is 100% reliant on IAS, your terribad.
how does that make any sense?? you should probably stop talking because you sound like an idiot. your statement basically says anyone who stacked the highest dps gain stat(for DH anyway) is "teribad". so your advice would be to stack a less potent stat? RIGHT!! thanks for the input pal.
How is the repair thing bad? Whatever they raised the cost to, it should be double that.
Ain't no challenge in the game if there isn't a real penalty for death.
I guess the only reason to be upset is if you built your character like a retard and were relying on the near-free cost of dying so you could mindlessly zerg everything.
I'm currently sitting at 20k dps, 6400 armor, 660 resist all and 38k hp's with 400 LoH.
My IAS is currently 45%, which means I'll see a DPS drop
My attacks/sec with a 1.40 weapon are 2.04
Post patch I'm expecting my DPS on screen to say about 16k.
It's basically a 17% DPS loss for me.
Now, however, can I up the DPS easily on my rings and amulet without worring about IAS so much to get back to 20k? Probably. I wasn't heavy into LoH anyways so it's not a killer. Act 3 was doable to me but not fun, Act II was faceroll for the most part. Act 1 I watch TV while clicking around.
So post patch first thing I'm going to do is jump into Act 3 and see how it goes compared to before. If the dmg nerf was enough I'd expect it to be much easier.
Than I'll do a 60% run of Act 1 (I start right after SK) hoping to get some ilvl63 items.
The biggest change to me is the number of people that have access to drops that would be upgrades for me has basically increased probably 500% if not more as many many people were stuck/waiting in the Act 2 or Act 3 walls and didn't get any ilvl 63 items.
So between the nerf to monster dmg, and the mass increase of quality gear I expect to see on the AH, within two to three days I expect to consider Act 3 fun finally.
The only people crying are the nubs who were rolling broken DH builds.
This patch is GREAT.
Better loot tables, direct hit to botters, harder bosses (with unique Inferno stuffs), cheaper BS/Gemcraft, and NERFED DAMAGE IN INFERNO.
All of these things are GREAT.
If your entire build is 100% reliant on IAS, your terribad.
This.
Diablo was never meant to be only glass canon viable. Glass canon builds were and will always be part of the game, but when they are the only thing you can do to play, then there is a huge problem.
Still, being a glass canon doesn't mean you should 2 or 3 shot every mob. 3 secs Butcher? Really?
I would love to play a DH / Wiz / WD with hit and kite, as long as hit and kite doesn't mean 300 hits for me, none for the monster or I'm dead.
I can see this game going back more and more to look like Diablo 2. Mind you, I also believe they are saving some stuff, like runes and rune words for an expansion.
If your entire build is 100% reliant on IAS, your terribad.

No, my advice would be to PAY ATTENTION TO OBVIOUSLY OP STATS, because this is BLIZZARD we are talking about.
They annouced the IAS nerf 2 WEEKS AGO.
Just because you are incapable of coherent thought, or basic reading.
QQ moar bud, you might actually have to DO SOMETHING other then hold down the I win button.

The patch is great huh? Sugar-coating a piece of turd still makes it a piece of turd. It's sad people get so excited about patches when they totally forget that this game should not have been this broken to begin with. Sure I can forgive oversights here and there but this is the first time I have played a Blizz game that felt more broken than polished. This is 2012, not Diablo 2, which mind you came out ages ago. And don't even try to defend Blizz cause they had/still have the resources, time and blueprints from previous games to make this game awesome.
Better loot tables to get better items for what? No PvP, No end-game.
Harder bosses? Are you using the same logic as Jay Wilson? Let's use a lazy cop-out and use math to make something more challenging? Every difficulty mode the bosses do the same things pretty much?
Cheaper crafting for BS/JC? Are you still forgetting that those are the ONLY min/max options we have end-game...two freaking professions? That's it?! Soooo much end-game to be had~~~
Nerfed damage in Inferno to streamline the game more than it already is? Nerfed IAS to streamline even further. There should be the "ultimate" items that we should be farming for....or what's the point in all items being similiar? Why don't they just nerf all resist since it's something "everyone was going for" to progress in Inferno past Act 2....it seems like they are eliminating all possible "goals" for achieving anything in this game...
Anyway...i will ask a real question to everywhere, the qq'ers, the fanboys, and the neutral-guys.
The whole point in the Diablo 3 franchise was doing certain builds work under certain conditions...(Infinity sorc come to mind in d2).....why they didn't make the other stats more appealing rather than nerfing ias to the ground ?. I don't want to "Balance" everything in my character, i want to make the build i want. Be it 50%+ crit, 500%+ crit dmg, insane IAS, etc. Why i can't have my little sandbox of stats to play with ?

"No end game"
More then D2 ever had.
"No PvP"
Fair enough, but its coming, and will be more then a singular feature "hostile".
And lol, according to YOUR OWN LOGIC, then Diablo 1 and 2 were terrible games?
And yeah, everyone going for the exact same item is totally an awesome and not boring idea.
lol.
If you hate the game so much, find something else to do with your life, I hear there are plenty of other games you can play.
Anyway...i will ask a real question to everywhere, the qq'ers, the fanboys, and the neutral-guys.

I agree with you 100%. People act like DH were the only classes that benefitted from IAS. Not to mention the fact that if you wanted to get IAS on a certain slot that normally didn't have it, it meant you needed to sacrifice something else (like lower main stats, etc). Boj's, Lacuni etc. come to mind.

Anyway....i don't know the exact reason why we can't have every single class op like hell with the right items. The problem was that DH's where having candy while the rest couldn't even aspire for it.
The solution in a Diablo world scheme would have been "Give candy to everyone".
The solution Blizz came up with... "Steal the candy for certain classes/builds"

#1 You kinda can.

IAS is still REALLY, REALLY GOOD.
its like you guys cannot think at all.
Again, IAS is STILL A REALLY GOOD STAT.
Just not a completely broken must have.
Good lord, you guys are pathetic.
Am i doing mindless QQ'ing calling "Actiblizz is pure evil" or am i trying to explain my point ? There's no excuse to call me pathetic....really....why people in this forum are so unfriendly ?
I really hope this gets the mmo-champion treatment to deal with the trolls soon....

i love how ppl always use the "if you dont like it then don't play it deal." Yes that may be true, but it's not that simple. The fact that a consumer, you, has such low expectations from a gaming company that prides itself on the quality of their games is pretty indicative of how low your standards are. If you can honestly say you think this is a quality game for the year that we live in, you are delusional.
Forgive me for expressing an opinion I feel I have a right to, not only as a consumer but a long time Blizz gamer.
You can also use D1 and D2 all you want, it came out years and years ago. They had plenty of time to learn from their mistakes and improvements through the 100s of patches that D2 saw. Because D2 is crap and outdated. Comparing those 2 games is like comparing Madden '97 to Madden '12.
