Yeah, because WoW Cata, SC2 and D3 all didn't break records previously held by other Blizzard games.
Oh wait.
They did.
Just because you think something is not relevant, does not actually mean it is not, it may come as a surprise to you, but you are just one of many millions of people who determine what actually is relevant.
I don't care if I'm one of 10 people left in the world playing D3. If there is a server online, I'll be playing it. You kids can keep on moving to games that promote your short attention spans.
I get a kick out of people that get so defensive about this game, that they always feel the need to include a generalized insult to feel better about themselves. There is obviously no other reasonable explanation as to why people have left this game then that they are kids with short attention spans. Boy, you know what's up.
I think the defensive nature is because the malcontents have decided that, instead of just moving on, they're going to troll and flood the forums with negative topics. It's like going to a Honda dealership and listening to some dirty old man sitting in a chair complaining about how horrible his Honda is. You'll probably just laugh it off for a while, but when you're on your 3rd trip back and you're starting to seriously think about purchasing a car, it's going to become fairly annoying.
I'm not suggesting everyone should love D3, hell I don't even love everything about it. I'm suggesting that if you are so discontent with the game, maybe you should give it a rest and try something else and leave people who are enjoying it to enjoy it. There's no need to make everyone else miserable just because you are.

Exactly this.
These trolls seem to be on some form of quest to tell us that we cannot have fun. (humorously enough, that's what these very same trolls accuse Blizzard of doing, hypocrisy at its finest)
Seriously, if I have to explain to anyone the flaw in these stats........
Just a quick statistical tidbit. Accurate surveys are not based on total population percentage but statistical formulas. Therefore a sample size of 100,000 is more than enough, overkill even, to gauge the trend of a 7,000,000 person population depending on confidence intervals and what not.

That would also assuming the statistic being used is accurate in the first place. Xfire is hardly a great source for getting any idea on anything,
The problem with statistics is while the fundamentals are sound they are usually misrepresented in actual practice. It's an election here in the US so anyone who watches more than 15 minutes of TV a day sees examples of this every day. Data can easily be manipulated and if you have a desired result in mind it's far from difficult to find data to support it. That is why good analysts, data aggregators, and consulting firms look at all available data before coming to conclusions. You need to understand the source in order to come to an accurate conclusion.
Slightly obtuse metaphor but if I went out an surveyed 100k farmers asking them what their top concerns where for this election year and then published the results as "% of Americans that are concerned with agriculture in the 2012 election" that is simply not accurate. While I most likely have done my due diligence to establish a trend I did not even remotely come close to actually figuring out what percentage of Americans really care about agriculture in 2012. Again, slightly obtuse but basically the same thing. It's great that x-fire presented this data and it's great that Diablo Fans had a nice poll last week. At the end of the day it's fluff and should be taken as such. Remember kids 82% of all statistics are made up on the spot

Being that this was posted on a Diablo fan site I really didn't think I'd have to point out that it was a joke... but since your pants get tight when you see the Blizzard logo let's talk for a bit. You really think quantity equals quality? I'd bet that if Modern Warfare went 12 years between releases it'd probably post some pretty strong sales numbers as well. How about some other records: Has Blizzard ever had their offices in any country raided as a result of consumer complaints? I'd bet Blizzard is probably breaking records on refunds as well. Woohoo records!
Aside from SC2 I've noted a serious decline in the quality of Blizzard releases, gone are the days where people can depend on a quality product simply because it carries the Blizzard logo. This is actually a conclusion I had made prior to release of D3 and the launch has done little but convince me that I was right to feel reserved. Despite my resistance a friend was able to twist my arm into purchasing D3. He actually seems significantly more dissatisfied than I do, maybe that's because I didn't have such high expectations, who knows. What I do know is that I won't have as much issue defending my position of not buying anymore Blizzard products in the future.

Ok, i'll bite.
No sales figures playing into this AT ALL;
#1 WoW has the record for the most active MMO players in the world, it also holds the record for the largest player retention rate over the longest period of time for any game, not just an MMO. Any game that can not only maintain its player base for so long, and maintain continued customers over as many expansions as WoW has had cannot be considered a "decline" in quality.
#2 SC2 is the #1 Esports game in the world, it has the largest payouts, has the largest tourney base, and the most television/player/event support of any Esports game on the planet. For a game that is outright built for Esports, you literally could not hope for anything better, period.
#3 Well, D3 We will honestly have to wait and see, the game is so young its hard to use anything other then sales figures at this point, I am aware of the problems the game has, I am also having a blast playing the game, and know that Blizzard will make many, many changes to the game post launch. I will adopt a wait and see on this one, about 6 months out we should have a much clearer picture.
Do you care to comment on #1 or #2? Because I can provide verification and outright proof on those 2 fronts (so can anyone who can use Google), would you care to explain in the face of those outright FACTS how that would indicate a decline in quality?
Blizzard literally is the "bar" that is set for MMO/RTS/ARPG games, all other games in these genres are invariably compared to and inevitably fall short of these titles. (and by falls short, I mean sell less, have less players, and have a far shorter life span, literally, EVERY SINGLE ONE. I am not even exaggerating, every last MMO/RTS/ARPG game that is NOT a Blizzard game has fallen short of the aforementioned criteria, all of them, period. )

I remember when d2 was released and everyone was moaning about how crappy the graphics was and how they hadnt done much in the 3 years in developement.
I remember when warcraft 3 was released and everyone complained about the graphics and how it didnt bring anything new to the table at all.
Just goes to show that there will always be some people who get too high expectations and fail to see how good a game really is in the end.
Cause yeah, people are dissatisfied with D3's graphics...

Yep, you got me figured out. I'm so defensive that these forums are full of people who do nothing but whine and troll. I'm so defensive about really enjoying a game while numbers falsely dwindle from an inaccurate report from XFire. There is obviously no other explanation than that the game is bad, Blizzard is evil, RMAH is the only thing that matters, and kids don't have short attention spans. Glad you know what's up too, and I'm glad your attention span is here long enough to feel compelled to chime in. Wow, I sure feel better about myself now that I don't care that you cry babies are quitting, you gd genius.
but you actually care enough to post in such topics.
It is interesting how people understand the same information differently.
When I made the post I was more surprised than anything. Granted, I still don't feel this is a mature enough product, but I play the game and have fun with it. Not leaving or anything, but was quite alarmed with the graphic, that is all.
Just wanted to post this to those saying I was trolling a fan site. That was not my idea.

#1 Wow holds the record, by far, for subscription numbers. By most accounts, the actual number of players is significantly lower, but I'd still expect them to be in the lead by far. I'd like to see your links on player retention as I'm not finding much and don't recall Blizzard ever making an official statement on it. It sure seems to me that a lot of people that played at release are no longer playing and that their marketing seems geared towards new business rather than retaining old customers but that's just my opinion/experience. Let's not forget that wow lost 10% of it's subscriptions in a year. There's another record for you, and not exactly indicative of continued quality.
#2 I guess we're ignoring where I said "Aside from SC2" but since you insist on bringing it up I do have a gripe. SC1 had all campaigns included. SC2? Oh hell no, let's milk the customers for all we can!
#3 I've gotten my money's worth from D3, no real skin off my back even if I didn't it's not going to break me. Is it a good game? For the most part sure. Is it a good Blizzard title? No.
I don't care if I'm one of 10 people left in the world playing D3. If there is a server online, I'll be playing it. You kids can keep on moving to games that promote your short attention spans.
I agree, it's a lot of fun. I've been waiting for something really intricate for a long time.
I'm a2 inferno viable if you ever want a teammate.
In addition, Xfire blows and the demographic still using it are complete retards considering Steam / Vent / TS or whatever would be better in essentially every way. Xfire users would have exceptionally short attention spans because they're primarily kids who can't afford a pay service and/or aren't allowed to have Steam.
