When my RMAH auction was first tagged with "failed" I looked around to see if anyone else had the same problem. Sure enough some people posted after 1 week their item still wasn't returned and others said they got it back after a couple days. I waited a week before making a ticket, waited almost another week for them to answer.
They asked for the Order ID so I gave them that then an hour later they told me that I probably claimed it already since I had one of the same type posted on the AH. I told them that I had 4, sold 3(1 failed) and had 1 listed. They replied that the item is lost and they cannot reimburse it.
Just letting anyone with failed auctions know that Blizzard might steal your items. For anyone curious the item was a 20% string of ears I sold for £18 - my cut £15.
Yup, had 1 my barb was using and bought 3 with my 15M since I found them to be the best gold:real money conversion. Sold everything I had for around £200 so the £15 loss isn't really a big deal I just don't understand why their system can't tell them if you already claimed it or not.
edit: actually to be specific I sold the one my barb was using, bought 2 more and sold them (1 failed) then bought another which has yet to sell so I was never selling 4 at the same time. The most I ever had listed at the same time was 2. 20% strings have gone down a lot in price from 4.5-4.7M to 3.5M now so it was a bad investment since everything else went up (justice lanterns, stormshields, even terribad 17 blocks doubled in price)
Almost inevitably with these types of posts the OP is not giving us the whole story. Why not try copy/pasting, word for word, everything that you've said to Blizzard and vice versa? Obviously take out sensitive info e.g. names, bank account details, email addresses, etc.
It's just like all those posts on the official forums where someone is claiming Blizzard are horrible, then a CM comes into the thread and politely destroys their argument with the facts. like that guy who was complaining about GM ticket times, only for it to transpire that he'd made thousands of tickets in a ridiculously short amount of time.
Will post all the info if you want but the way i'm taking what they said is that they think i've already claimed it because I have one posted and i'm either lying to them or mistaken. Again do not understand why they brought the RMAH out if they're unable to see if someone has claimed an auction or not.. thats kind of a big thing, imo. But they're literally refusing to give it back to me on the grounds of they cannot verify where it is, so my question: why the hell not?!

I sold a String of Ears on the Real Money Auction House but the transaction "failed" while it was under review. I still have not got my item back and it has been longer than a week.

Greetings,
You are receiving this message in response to the help petition which you submitted regarding a Auction house sale.
Good day! Im sorry for the long wait time - our queues are rather large right now with all the tickets we're receiving and we're working to reduce the wait time for everyone now. Obviously this is frustrating for everyone and we thank players for their continued patience.
Regarding your ticket, can you confirm that the item was not returned please?
If you're still having issues can you provide further details of the Auction ID etc.. please?
Once again Im sorry for the delay in our response - I hope that next time you contact us we'll be able to resolve your issue quickly.
Regards,

Greetings,
Many thanks for your reply! We have had a look at your Auctions and can see that the original belt auction did indeed fail. You now have an active auction with the same item so we are hoping that you did indeed claim it back and are now trying to re-sell.
Hopefully your issue is resolved today, best of luck to you ^^
Kind Regards

The one I have on the auction house is a different one. I had 1 and bought 3 to sell on the RMAH, I've sold 2 have 1 listed and the remaining one is the one which failed to process and I cannot claim back.

Hello,
Sorry to have kept you waiting.
I have investigated your issue and wanted to let you know that based on the auction transaction information we were unable to verify that the item was unable to be claimed back and posted again on the auction house.
Unfortunately you it is not possible to reimburse items lost in this manner but you may be able to trace your transactions and find that the item that you though you lost has actually been reposted since.
I wish you the best of luck.
Sincerely,

Obviously checked the AH and there isn't one posted for the price I originally listed it at and I don't think Blizzard would relist it higher/lower. Also I get that people are going to call me a liar and say I already got it back and am trying to get a free one or that I'm mistaken and must have forgotten I sold one or something, but really I don't understand why they don't make a better effort to locate where the belt actually is.
Have you tried calling them? It seems for any real issue the GM department is near useless but calling them on the phone gets shit fixed.
I was going to before they posted that they cannot confirm if the item was returned or not. I could call them and ask them to check all my auctions to see that I've owned 4 and only sold 2 but I'll check if theres a charge first since I'm not gonna pay to call them and get nothing from it.
Customer Service is mostly a dead ideal. It's a transaction based business which is why most "customer service" departments are now referred to as "contact centers" or something similar. That being said the few times I have had to contact Blizzard have been positive and when I did have to call them, wait time not withstanding, it was a one and done deal. As others have said try calling them and see what happens.
the hardest part about this is going to be not to threaten them when you call, or start calling them names they probably deserve, it will be tough but you have to stay strong, and be nice
Interesting, in one of the threads on the officail forums, i cant link since i dont have a high enough post count, but it is someone saying blizzard banned them for using the RMAH too much.
One of the MVP posters noted that in the RMAH terms of Service...... the RMAH CANT be used as an investment vehicle. So you mentioning that you bought them to resell may have something to do with it.

That's how a friend of mine solved some billing issues (with WoW). Also, it was the only way another friend could recover his account after being hacked (did it in less than 24 hours, after waiting 5 days on support ticket for no solution).
Yeah, give them a call anyway. Not only does it mean you have their full attention longer, but they probably figure out that you won't be leaving them alone until they fix it. Also, since you're spending more of your time, it helps disprove that you're not just trying to scam them out of a SoE.
If you genuinely didn't get your item back keep contacting them, it will get fixed. Though if they saw anything funny with the sale or maybe you did get it back in some way then they're probably seeing that. Maybe ask them to look into it being a bug.
