TBH I think RoS is coming out earlier than it should be because of the much needed overhaul of vanilla. :/
I was honestly surprised with the expansions announcement.
Same here, and I'm happy as shit about what I'm hearing. I'll be the first to give them a round of applause for this effort.
The xpac isn't an issue in my eyes. When it comes, it comes and I'll be glad to pay for it. Love what I'm hearing and we've only been teased with cursory info.
I'm a little upset, and I feel rightfully so, that the main focus of the Diablo franchise at Blizz HQ hasn't been getting itemization in a better place. Rather, per the lead devs own words, the main focus for some time has been launching a console version.
I swear, I quit SC mode because if I found 1 more damn Zuni chest with STR, DEX and +XXX thorns damage .....I was about to bash my head to bits. I play SF HC exclusively now because even a contorted Zuni chest would be a great find.
Anyhwho......I'll drop it because this thread should be about the community getting excited and I'm being a bit of a wet blanket. I apologize, it got under my skin when I heard that comment by Josh.

The console and PC have separate teams with minimal crossover. Looking at your other posts it's evident you choose not to believe this and that's fine, but there's no way they developed the console version in the few short months since the last patch. Likewise there's no way this expansion (which looks to be very developed already) has only had a month or so of work put into it since the console went gold.
It's quite obvious they both have separate teams. Josh may have been heading up the console version for the better part of the last year, but that doesn't mean the PC team wasn't hard at work under the guidance of Travis and Wyatt. The expansion and these new "2.0" systems are looking very polished and they have clearly been the PC teams focus for quite a while now.
As for "patch 1.0.9", that was never a real thing. It's just the logical next step in patching so everyone assumes it was coming at some point. It's likely not. I think these 2.0 systems will make the minor re-visionary leap to 1.1.0 or even 2.0.0, so it's unlikely we will ever see a 1.0.9 and that's no surprise as a 1.0.9 was never actually mentioned by devs.
All the system 2.0 changes are way too far reaching to be a simple "patch" denotation of 1.0.X, not to mention the new retroactive content in Nephalem Trials and Loot Runs.

So you think the lead director was lying in this interview today? He clearly stated they went to the console and have now come back to the PC. Does that suggest to you that full resources were going toward PC?

No he's not lying. Because he was on the Console team. He's talking about his team which are now obviously dead-weights as the console version is done, so they have moved to the PC team.
You do realize it's impossible for the level of content that was displayed at gamescom to be developed in a month right..?
There's no question. The teams are separate. PC team has been developing 2.0 system and Expansion content. Console team has been developing the console version.
As has been said, there was crossover (duh), but it was minimal.
Hey guys, I don´t know if you already explain it, but on the few legendarys examples that we have, the puzzle ring doesn´t have any star next to his name, the second legendary, the dragon staff or something like that, has 2 stars, and the hand-weapon for the monk has 3 stars. I understand that they´re using the idea of Mr. Mounstrosiity for give different quality to legendarys?
I think crusader is the perfect class and it's actually exactly what I was waiting for. Yeah, it's a STR class like the barb but there was simply a STR class missing:.And yeah, it resembles similarities to the monk, but the monk still doesn't feel anything like a paladin (and let's face it, crusader is just another name for paladin, with which I'm fine).
Shapeshifter/druid will most likely be the new class of a second add-on. I personally take the crusader over a druid anytime.

Am I the only one who thinks the Crusader isn't too fitting a class? -.-
I mean, we already have Monks who are basically Pala's with mantras/auras. And now they add another class which has basically the same abilities with different animations? And there were so many potential new and unfilled roles like a str Shapeshifter
What other "so many" potential new and unfilled roles? I mean, we have all heard about the str shapeshifter idea but what else? The Crusader is quite awesome and different from the monk because he has two of the signature skills from the D2 paladin; Fist of Heavens and Blessed Hammer... I can just imagine the rage of people when they see the new hammerdin build in action xD
Anyway i'm still hoping for a second new class announcement at Blizzcon. It will be an int based druid, some sort of a short ranged caster with some shapeshifting abilities.
No he's not lying. Because he was on the Console team. He's talking about his team which are now obviously dead-weights as the console version is done, so they have moved to the PC team.
He said what he said and what he said reflects exactly what the players have seen. It's been over a year since the last half-ass attempt at offering inspired itemization was made, and nothing since. When he says "we", he means the focus of the franchise. Not Him and his pals from the console team.
He said they first created a "Great game" for the PC. When the fuck did that happen? This game has great potential, it looks like it's going to be great. But it ain't great. Not til they fix itemization. It's the one lone holdout draggin this game down.
You do realize it's impossible for the level of content that was displayed at gamescom to be developed in a month right..?
Who said anything about a month? I never said that. I said this is proof that many of us were right as to why itemization hasn't been reiterated for over a year now, even though Blizz is aware of our discontent. At some point since launch, the console development ate into loot fixes for the PC. Hence the delay. Hence my discontent.
Either way, I'm glad they've focused back on the PC, and in the end, that's all that matters. Well, that and the fact that they seem to have really hit the proverbial nail on the head. This shit looks great. All I mean to say, and don't take it as hate, is that SOMETHING should've been done about loot over the last 13+ months since 1.04. Due to the strain of developing the console, apparently an itemization patch was shelved to coincide with a far off release date for an xpac.
The priority was the console, and that's exactly what Josh said.
Maybe so... but if blizzard was smart they would refresh existing areas to make me actually WANT to start new characters and play through non end game.
Well, they seem to be adding Nephalem Valor to lower levels, so leveling will definitely feel more rewarding, especially with the Loot 2.0. Plus, with Paragon Levels now being account wide, you will probably be able to put a ton of stats into +experience and quickly move to end game.
Can't really see them revamping vanilla acts in any significant way.

Anybody know if we're getting anymore info today or was that it for D3X Gamescom?
I have to believe that there is a lot more for the expansion Blizzard hasn't told us about yet. From this quote from a blue:
We want to implement a lot of the new systems and features in a pre-expansion patch for free. That should include Paragon 2.0, Loot 2.0, Loot Runs, and Nephalem Trials. For now, you'll need to purchase the expansion to play as the Crusader, explore Act V, unlock the Mystic, and level up to 70. These details may change as development moves along, but we want some of the core gameplay improvements to be available for everyone.
We're getting a lot of features free as a patch, so the the incentives to buy the expansion are 1 new class, 1 new act, the mystic, and 70 lv cap. I dont think that's quite enough.

It's enough for me but I agree with you, maybe they're holding back on a PvP announcement until they're 110% sure of it. To not cause the same problems as the previous announcement did.
I think that another class in this exp + revamped playing system would be great. As for the proposed classes by the members above... they seem to be thinking too much in the "diablo 2 box".

My only concern....when? When are we getting 2.0?
If it's soon, you won't hear me complain in the least about a damn thing for a very long time. If we're going to have to wait for 6-8 months....that doesn't seem acceptable to me. We've literally been waiting since launch day for truly deep itemization. We can wait for the xpac, we always knew we would.
But I get the feeling most people felt as I did 6 months ago. That a major itemization patch was right around the corner.
Did anyone else notice on the Gamecom interview that Josh referred to playing through the game for the first time as "Story Mode"? Maybe we're going to be seeing different modes of play that have yet to be announced.
There's speculation that the alternate to "Story Mode" would be a farming mode, allowing us to do loot runs and perhaps travel between acts freely.

Holy crap, really? That'd be awesome (and help me in this other thread where I argued with brx :P).
What I want even more than travel between acts is to skip cut scenes. Seriously, I am freaking annoyed by playing through the game just because there are so many cut scenes and animation that can't be skipped. I'd actually like to do an entire playthrough in "story mode" if I could just skip the 20 seconds where the freaking stupid dumb Scoundrel is looking for the keys in his bag to open that god damn door.
