To stop the spread of the disastrous topics about religion, god science and what have you, it would be a good time to discuss something - namely clothes!
So why this insignificant, dumb, totally irrational, self-absorbed topic? Well, everybody likes to look nice every once in a while, and an easy way to do just that is to dress properly!
What's your style? Do you even consider yourself to have a style? Where do you buy your clothes?
I'll start with me to set an example:
To me, I don't have a style even if I consider myself as a fan of metal and videogames. Basing this on my life and my prejudice, if you look like a regular dude you don't have a style.. Yes, it's a dumb way to see things, but that's how I see it. I wear jeans and a tee. There's nothing special about the jeans or the tee's (T-shirt. Tisha if you are open-minded and living in Sweden and can't be bothered to say T-shirt). The t-shirts are not of a particular brand and portray different motives, such as band names (Metallica), happy seals playing with beachballs, graveyards, WoW-statements, flowers, games and the list goes on.
Ever since I went to NYC in mid-2006 I've been hung up on AE - American Eagle Outfitters. I usually order 3-4 pairs of jeans every 6-8 months along with 1-2 t-shirts and possibly a shirt as well. What I pay for that online order + shipping + customs is nothing compared to what those jeans would've set me back if bought here in Sweden. Jeans here are like $80 and up.
I just go to the shop, pick up what I like, see if I can pay for it, and if I can I just take it and go home... with that method you could say I don't have a style or anything like it
i used to have a stylist that bought clothes for me :x
needless to say, since she left i mostly wear jeans and shirts. styles vary from athletic to professional. im not a huge fan of hipster clothing, but i like stripes :X

My style is kind of diverse... usually I'll be caught wearing jeans and a T-shirt (the T-shirts are either biking-related, plain, or will have my fav band on it (Opeth anyone?)), but sometimes my friends and I do weird things like say "Hey, wanna go to the pub tonight? Let's wear full-blown suits, ties, dress shoes - the works - just for the hell of it." I'll also walk into a coffee shop wearing slippers, chords, and a cardigan sweater. Why not, eh?
Shorts or jeans when it's really cold and usually a black shirt with a band I like on it, some funny phrase, or a rude statement.
Same on the offensive shirts. Nothing offends a hippie like my Nuke the Whales shirt.
I mostly wear t-shirts with some kind of picture on it. And I usually wear cargo pants or cargo shorts. I know those are mostly out of style everywhere else in the world, but I seriously find those cargo pockets on the side useful. I keep my wallet in one and my phone in the other and I never understand how people who wear jeans all the time keep those things on their person.
Cold times of the year I usually wear a hoodie. Hoodies are just great. But I like the kind that zip up the most. Not those ones you have to pull over your head.
I used to spend 80$ on lacoste shirts. Three years later I have about eight of them in my closet and none of them fit because they all shrunk. I spend next to nothing on clothes anymore, but the truth is that we live in such a vein society that clothes are pretty much the first impression you give people.
Did you seriously just say casual/smart? That's like on that Seinfeld where George has that date and she tells him to dress casual/smart and George asks Jerry what that is and Jerry tells him he doesn't know but that George doesn't have it.
Generally I go for cargo shorts/jeans with sports fan style t-shirts (jersey's, shirts with team names, etc), or polo shirts, depending on how much I care.
Of course, that style evolved because I'm too lazy/cheap to buy more shirts that aren't in those two categories.

I wear cargo pants/shorts alot also, they're damn comfortable. I can't stand for my junk to be restrained by tight jeans.
I also like the zip up hoodies, I really don't like the pull over ones.
Oh. Oh, no. I hate people who use those. Pretentious college students and their rectangular glasses. What's so wrong about the backpack anyway?
Messenger bags are actually really practical. I can fit my 15" laptop and/or my books in it easily.
For one, I don't like carrying a backpack on my back (outside of hiking), so I just prefer a proper shoulder-carry bag anyways. Secondly, backpacks are impractically divided (one big main space can't be utilized fully). Thirdly, backpacks are ugly as hell (similar to trainers, they're functional, not aesthetic outside of trekking/jogging).
Besides, leather as a material lasts beyond any fabric. Leather backpacks are too much for me.
My addidas backpack can do all the things u said and its not ugly

Also I agree with you, God and Science can co-exist.
Why did I post in this topic...
Maybe when I'm older I'll copy Olivia Dunham's style or something...

Nike athletic shorts, white T-shirts, South Park boxers, Nike shoes, and short socks.
That's how I roll.
