I'd say!! As far as I know, most professors don't usually participate in video-game-based-forum discussions or arguments! Especially if it's as demonic as Diablo. And how many know what a meme is!
It's probably just my stereotypical view when I hear the word professor: Old grey guy who remembers WWI. Thinks the computer is the devil's creation ect. If I remember correctly, you're a History teacher?

I prefer "Professor," but the "teacher," vernacular is at least practically accurate. And you would be suprised how many of us are gamers of some stripe. I'm certainly not the only one on my faculty who spends too much time on forums between lectures and research, although I will admit i've probably taken in the culture a bit faster than most. I like new things and appreciate vulgarity in my humor, thus the internet contained nothing I couldn't readily appreciate.
I understand that you think I'm pretentious / ignorant. I guess that's cool, that's your opinion.
The whole gist of my post was that, in a curriculum based on credit for work and not credit for understanding, anybody with enough determination could ace the class without knowing the material. I know people who got an A in the class just on homework alone, but only got a 3 on the AP test when I am notorious for procrastinating and got a 4. I'm a certified AP scholar and I hardly do any homework. My GPA has definitely taken a toll from that, but I find comfort in knowing that colleges don't look at GPAs as much as they look at test scores and the quality of your admission essay. I'm sure they know, above all others, that anybody can get an A nowadays just by doing the work, but it's better when they can actually understand it.
I would suggest you go back and try to find the connection between my AP calculus teacher's method of grading and my satisfaction. I don't do any homework in that class and I still do well on the tests. That's where I get my satisfaction; from the certainty that I do understand based on my score. I don't even study. I pick up things easy.
And I guess you think I hold myself above others because I pick up things easier. Trust me, I don't. And I don't want to be a teacher because I think teachers are above other professions (I have no idea where you got that from); I want to be a teacher because I was inspired by my prior history teachers and the fact that I love history. Just because I think history is the most interesting thing on the planet, that doesn't mean that I play down the importance of other subjects.
Sometimes, just because you think there's a connection to be made, it just isn't there. That'd be like saying LotR was written about Operation Desert Storm.
Edit: And I got my definition of "intelligence" from a Webster's Unabridged Dictionary that I use as a doorstop. Please, for the sake of argument, don't assume that I'm talking out of my ass because you don't agree with what I'm saying.
And in case you were curious; intelligence (n): 1. (a) the ability to learn or understand from experience; mental ability

Hey, this is Nooney53 and I have a new name now. Just a FYI...
Cool stuff. I'll recommend that you shouldn't change your avatar for some time, let the name blend in with your avatar, become one with the avatar...jk that was lame. Why the change? I might also change my name someday, my name sucks hairy balls atm and both my previous names I wanted to pick were already taken.
@Prole- Si, luck plays quite a role in all of this. After all, we could have been born in some 3rd world country or maybe not have been born at all. I've been so fortunate for most of my life. I can only hope that it will continue as long as possible.

I have used Kenorwoks for pretty much every game I have ever played since WCII b.net, it's kind of like my go-to name. When I first made my Dfans account as "thereisnocowlevel" I was kind of tired of the name though, but of course I came crawling back because I will probably use it forever.
Do you have any names you normally use? Favorite character name in D2??
Fun fact, Kenorwoks is actually taken on youtube, what are the chances? There goes any hope for my youtube career down the drain.

For every game I have ever played my I always use these two names:
Nightblaze and Soulreunion
That may change however, particularly when I play GW2. =)
It was NightStalker initially way back when. Now it's Shikamaru. That one dude in Naruto, don't really know why that name sticked though...I'm not an big anime fan, in fact I haven't watched anime probably in the last 3 or 4 years. I've only watched Naruto (the old stuff, before Shippuden), Bleach, One Piece and Death Note.
Both those names were taken when I created my account. As for my D2 names. Mostly just random random names. I'll go check quickly and report back...I'm back, here's a list.
- Shikamaru ~ Assassin (My very first character).
- Gaylord ~ Barbarian.
- ManBearPig ~ Druid.
- NecroMonger ~ Necromancer.
- Boobies ~ Amazon.
- Ice-Bastard ~ Sorcerer.
- BlueScarFace ~ Barbarian.
- Ass ~ Assassin
You may notice the lack of Paladin. Don't really know why I never played him...maybe cause he walks funny! I also never played online and also never bought/trade items or something, just offline on my own, also never used runewords. Also no mods!! Yeah played D2 as one was suppose to! That's prolly why I don't have any level 80 characters...it was to fucking hard in Hell difficulty...

Oh and I watched Tenjou Tenge for a bit. It came on this one channel Animax on DStv (African tv service) which only showed anime: Neon Genesis, Elfen Lied, Hellsing and Gantz was the best of them.
Now it has been replaced with another channel with reatarded asian game shows like Unbeatable Banzuke, Ninja Warriorand Takeshi's Castle! Dunno if any of those are familiar to you.
I just got my power back and I am not going to read through 6 pages of very wordy posts. I do however have a reply to this one, I do not know if somebody replied to it specifically.
We do not have a sense to perceive time. What you are talking about measuring is nothing more than an idea.
We do have a sense to perceive time. It's called the Circadian Rhythm. With out it, our bodies would not know when to wake up after sleeping, for women to have their premenstrual cycle, etc...
Here's an article from Cracked for some good reading.

Can't forget about Science Daily's article.
Enjoy.
And did I mention how much I like Chobani? Lemon and Strawberry are my favorite flavors so far.
