I'm sure you're like me that once you reach a certain level (probably in the early 80s), there is not much to do; at least not much that's fun. Sure you can magic find, but that gets tedious and boring almost immediately (for me). You can complete old quests that you've skipped, but they're few and on easier difficulties, and therefore aren't much of a challenge, and thus, not much fun. Chaos Runs? Baal Runs? Cow Runs? That's what everyone ends up doing, and they can be fun, for a time. But once you reach level 90 or so, leveling your character up seems like a chore, and that's why I've never had a character above 93; there was nothing there to keep me going.
That's why I suggest for Diablo 3 an Epic Level Quest system. Once you've reached a certain high level, you're eligible to take part in special quests that, in addition to being very difficult and time consuming, will reward you with massive amounts of experience. Here's what I was thinking (If Diablo 2 had an Epic Quest):
You've killed Baal, and you've reached level 90, and you're eligible for the Epic Quests. One of the quests could be, for example, that Azmodon and Belial have surfaced following the other Evils' defeat (how? I don't know, just humor me), hoping to reign over the mortal world, and you're faced with the task of stopping them. It's not part of the main quest (which you've completed upon killing Baal), but it affords the player more opportunities for earning large amounts of experience without all the tedium. Again, that was just my example using Diablo 2.
For Diablo 3, I'm thinking that there should be a similar EQS (Epic Quest Systsm). However the list of Epic Quests shouldn't be static; that is to say, every once in a while, Blizzard will release new content via patches that adds new Epic Quests.
If there is an experience cap that restricts your level, then being within a few levels of that cap would qualify you for the Epic Quests. Let's say that initialy, when Diablo 3 is released, the level cap is 40 (just an arbitrary number I picked). Also assume that reaching level 40 will be difficult. You'll be eligible for the Epic Quests at, say, level 35 (again, arbitrary). So you reach level 35, you do a few of these quests, and you're happy. Blizzard releases an expansion which raises the experience cap to 65. There would be a series of Epic Quests for that Expansion, available say, at level 60. And so on.
That's all I've got for now.

"This place has been hallowed by the blood of thousands of champions of the Light, many of whom were mortal, like yourself." - The Archangel Tyrael
i agree with you, but there is kinda an epic quest on diablo 2. when you collect the hate, terror, and destruction keys (3 of each) you open portals to different ubers monsters. izual, duriel, and lilith. once defeating each of them they each drop a different organ, and you combine all three to open up uber tristram. inside are uber diablo, mephisto, and baal. they are way stronger than before, and mephisto is super hard to beat. minions are ever spawning, and they are heavy on immunes.
but your right, i guess there should be more like the dungeons and raids from WoW. that way it doesnt get too boring.

Very true and I have done those. However, people who play D2, especially those on USeast, are SOBs. They never want to help you, you never can get a key because they take them automatically, or they just leave when they get you stuck in lets say the halls of vaught, even though you are just barely not strong enough to beat Nihilathak. Still this is a great idea for D3. It may seem a little like WoW but it is descreet enough for people that they will still stick with Diablo.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.

make a good hammerdin and nihl is no problem. make a smiter and all the ubers are no problem as well, but the point is that you must make really good characters if you want the best outcome.
What he is refering to though isn't the Uberquest, because what is it really? A long farm for keys and running bosses again and agai, unless you buy them at which point the quest isn't very long.
No, what he suggests I think is an actual quest, with dialogue, new areas and new monsters. Something to keep you playing with your character.
I am most definately sre that when D3 comes, it will not be anything like what D2 is like in terms of content. The general concept and functions will be alike, but that's it.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
Well. That sounds an awful lot like WoW (and it's OK!). The content addition every once in a while I mean.
But I disagree with phrozendragon on the point that the ubers isn't type of quest, it is.
About what Carloseus said, well, what if I like the sorceress and want to kill the ubers using that character? Or any other that not the builds you mentioned?
Actually that was one of the things that made D2 really frustrating for me after a certain patch (can't recall the number), cause there were all these areas where I couldn't solo any more because (apparently) they put too much focus on cooperative play, to a point where soloing with certain characters became impossible. Still, some character builds (usually paladins) could take on even the ubers solo.
