I respect you for having good ideas and yet you did not start a new thread
+1
Can't say I agree, instead of making a new thread he posted same post in 2 threads. To be honest I even felt the post is barely tangentially relevant to the subjects he posted in.
While it may be interesting to know why people don't upgrade from trail version, it probably has little to do with what the hooked players want to see in future patches. To avoid derailing thread further I won't even comment his suggestions/fixes.
Well since the discussion in this thread already derailed into how D3 can be improved, his post is totally relevant. Having said that, i did not see the double post that you are talking about so...
I am sorry for the double post! already deleted the two posts. I will create my own thread. my intention was to supoort @MrMonstrosity in his dream, I felt myself that I was making use of the popularity of this thread... I am sorry.
For one, while your crafting idea is neat...its too convoluted with all the different types of brimstones.
While everyone would like to see the mystic in a patch, I guarantee you'll see her in the expansion, along with charms, runewords and so on.
Blizzard is all about the bottom line so their not going to put all their eggs in one basket when they can pump out an expansion and get another $30-60 from you to play again.
You might see a few more tweaks to multi-player and perhaps some changes to item affixes, but I wouldn't expect anything huge before the next expansion.
The biggest change I'd like to see since I'm on the topic of the expansion, is for them to get rid of the RMAH for the expansion...since they openly admitted it ruined the game, unless their truly only interested in money...only time will tell.
Additional changes would be...get rid of the stupid quest based games and just bring back the ability to transition to ANY WP within ANY ACT while in the same game.
Make starting zones much bigger for PVP purposes. While the arena is a novel idea...D2 PVP was all about walking out of that a1 bridge and stepping into the mayhem. While it wasn't very structured...at least people enjoyed it.
Other then that if you add some sort of competative ladder to well-made dungeon system it will be so much win
really? The D2 ladder in terms of placement and competition was utterly pointless, almost as pointless as achievements are..nothing like getting all warm and fuzzy inside from useless 'nerd points'. If anything, D3 could introduce ladder only that way people hard to start over each season..which was actually somewhat fun..and it does drive the economy for 'ladder only' items.
The last thing the game needs right now are novelty fixes before they address some of the more serious underlying issues.
Getting rid of the RMAH will solve nothing. Also Blizzard generally doesn't just remove a feature, until they have de-emphasized it enough. If RMAH goes away people will utilize player-auctions more heavily for gold and item buying needs. All you are doing now is sweeping your disgust under a rug. You can pretend the world is better and people aren't buying and selling stuff because there is no direct path to it.
The reality is the most expensive stuff is not bought or sold on RMAH. Gold is only bought on RMAH currently by people who honestly think the gold price floored at 25 cents per million.
What the RMAH DOES(or did) do is reduce the amount of accusations of scamming and actual scamming so that Blizzard can commit more resources to other activities. The internet is a vastly different beast than it was when D2 was at it's peak. The volume of items being traded is tremendously higher. Blizzard would have to have a whole department of FTE's working on scamming requests/restores/punishment. Ultimately it removes Blizzard's accountability for scamming by providing a secure process to prevent it. They are not going remove their own safety net whether you think that is unethical or not.
Of course they do. In fact I would guess these are probably some of the more thoroughly read forums. Mostly because they are slower moving but no less passionate.
The scamming isn't on the third party site solely. I agree to sell you something? I give it to you, you don't pay me, or find a way out of it. The transaction happened in game. Guess where the complaints will go? Guess how much yelling there will be if Blizzard doesn't help? Guess what.. Blizzard will actually want to help. To save time and money they created a secure way to prevent this scamming.
What about this for going down a random dungeon. Why not be able to go down 5, 50, or 100 levels in the dungeon. The player doesn't know how far the dungeon will go. Each time you go down the monsters get a little harder past the Monster Power level and the reward is little greater on top of Monster Power level. Maybe walk through a portal at level 5,10,15, etc to another type of map with different enemies to change it up. Eventually you will reach your limit and have to stop or try to run by monster hoping to find a chest and a good item. Call in a friend who is stronger to help out. Something like that. Like a star ocean dungeon or parasite eve. Would people just try to find a dungeon and go down as far as they can each time? Probably. Isn't Diablo an ARPG dungeon Crawler? This seems like it would be fun. What does the community think?
Of course this we be an addition to the original post which is amazing!!!
Please add more details on how this should work or not.
Yeah that kinda baffles me. The first legendary revamp was a step in the right direction, but only a step. There are still toooooooo many marginal legendaries - I got a near-perfect Wizardspike yesterday, for example. I'll be lucky to get 25-50k for that. None of my alts even need it. It's a very strange weapon, it's a pretty decent idea, but it just isn't *good enough*... it needs something more. The only people it could possibly appeal to are DWers who really want resist all on a weapon or Wizards who are desperatly in need of a high APS weapon with APoC but can't afford a quality Chantodo's.
I love the Frozen Orb throwback honestly. I had a Wizardspike that had pretty bad rolls, but I had trouble crushing it because I thought the effect was just awesome. But that single effect just isn't going to make it useable. The rest of the stats are MEH. I love the idea of a weapon with resist all. That could work with some builds, it's not common... but again, it just doesn't prove to be all that special in the current game.
They definitely need more work and I hope that they have a good handle on what did work and what did not work with the first revamp and can use that knowledge to do it better this time around.
I really do not like Trading Post at all. In that way you will never be able to trade the way you do it now with gold or money because no one will trade a yellow or more for an orange or green item. I mean that you will not be able to get upgrades because always you will have to trade equally value items.
This might work if you able to trade more items at once. So if i have 2 yellow worthy items i can trade them with a worthy orange. I really disliked the idea of Trading Post. Immature at least.
That is why we invented money first place. To be able to trade!
The idea absolutly needs to be refined, I just gave a brief idea of what would be an interesting concept. The entire point of it would be to find a happy medium between the "super convenient" AH/RMAH of D3 and the old "not so convenient" D2 trading. Combining the two taking both the good and bad would make for a truly amazing experience.
Love everything here but the trading post. I like the idea of the trading post but blizzard would never give up the RMAH how that they make money off of it. Personally I think the RMHA is a terrible idea and the current from of the AH needs some real improvement beyond what they have done already. I'm sure one of the arguments from blizzard would be along the lines of, "The RMHA helps off-set the cost of running the servers for the game due in part that there are no subscription fees for Diablo 3.".
I like the trading post idea but I'm sure it would never happen because of the aforementioned reason. The current AH is helpful for the more casual players who don't spend the time to farm, but it's almost like it's part of the game as a requirement not an optional thing that, to me, should of been.
Beyond that, I'm really on board with all the other ideas and think they would fit very well in the game. The mystic (witch I still don't get why it was cut from the game), and the expanded dungeons are brilliantly presented ;p
I like most of what is in the OP's list of suggestions, but I would argue that it would be a good thing to not limit the new tiles/areas to Inferno only. Having everything leading up to Inferno left to rot just sucks, especially for Hardcore mode where you will level up more than you would in Softcore mode. Having a better play experience across the board would work wonders for many aspects of this game as opposed to just making it "endgame only", which is a major problem with the current model.
I don't agree with your "Trading Post" idea. It significantly reduces the value of gold. Lowering the frequency/amount of gold drops, makes may increase its extrinsic value but it's intrinsic value is greatly slashed. It's only use then would be for repairs, craft and your new ideas. What if I don't have enough gold to do does things? I can manually sell my items for gold via chat (have you experienced people spamming their items on general chat?) and or 3rd party channels right? Where's your efficiency then? You just made it revert to the D2 days.
The Trading Post also introduces another problem, it uses the barter system. If I can only trade items for items in the system then every time I pick up something seemingly good it should be posted on the Trading Post in case someone wants it. If there is a limit to posting, then a bunch of items will be stuck in my stash until a slot is free. I would also have to hoard a bunch of gear to trade for something I need. What if my item is worth 10 pieces of gear? How can I get a good deal then? Also, what if a lot of people want my gear and started spamming me item offers? You mentioned some kind of search filters, fine. If nothing is in there of my liking then I have wasted my time filtering. Imagine what those who offered something will feel when they have to wait for you to respond only to get ignored. And while they are waiting, the value of their gear might have gone down due to the current gear trend. What happens then to those items in your stash?
This primitive barter system will encourage player interaction sure, but efficiency is severely limited.
They can implement everything cept removing the AH... Hands off my AH, specially the RMAH. One of the coolest things in this game is that you can actualy profit with irl money by being a tad more smart than the rest.. Loving it.
Did anyone see a sword with a scope? Not unless you play Diablo 3. My no1 whish for next patch is to NEVER see a shield with Demon Hunter stats or a quiver with Barbarian stats. The simple appearance of such combinations makes the whole game dumb. Please note that I do not ask to increase the dropping rate of ubber items, it may be fine as it is, but when the stats are generated, please generate only meaningful items, even if it is just to sell them.
2nd. Luckily the gameplay was fixed since its launch (when it was so broken that all of us should have asked for a refund), but the Action House still remains terrible. Often searches dont show all items, such as if I search for a +50 strength ring I dont get a +80 strength ring but if i search for a +75 I do. Current Bid often is wrong, one needing to guess what is the proper amount to bid, meanwhile getting endless low bid messages. Filters dont allow all posible options, for instance one cannot search Attack Speed & for ceratin item types although there are items that posses that stat, and the list goes on.
p.s. Trading Post and other ideeas in this article are not really practical.

How can scamming on third party sites ever be Blizzards problem or concern.

LOL this has to be a troll or RMAH user.
