Given that they are end game pieces i agree that they can't be common but hey, farming over whole weekend only get 1 piece of set is frustrating i agree.
things get worst when u reach 4/6 pieces, too many repeated set drop and u cant hit ur 6 pieces set bonus
I've only ever seen one class set piece and it was for the wrong class, that's after over 250 hours of play. Blackthorne's, on the other hand, I might have had two of those drop.
It's random my friend. Some people are luckier than others. I went from Paragon 30 or so to 293 since RoS and I'm 7/6 Marauder's (2 Gloves), 4/5 Natalya's, and even 2/4 of that shitty Shadow set. I also got my RRoG within my first dozen or so caches after hitting 70.
None of this has anything to do with me. There are plenty of better players who are stuck with worse gear. It's pure luck. My point is, the drop rate isn't the problem. Random is random.
Personally, I feel that set items drop frequently enough. My issue is that given their rarity (which I find acceptable) they seem to still have the same rolling rules as legendaries which I insta-shard.
Given how few set items I actually find, I'd like not to think "Oh, gee, another horrible Compass Rose" and run off to Haedrig immediately. If they want to keep them this rare they really should think about some enhancements to how they roll. Honestly I'm sick of finding mostly-useless set pieces because they didn't roll only one "bad/wrong" stat. That would be acceptable if I'm finding sets every 2-3 hours, but considering it's less than 1/day for me, it seems asinine that I'd be finding set items that don't instantly make me want to equip them.
TL;DR
I don't mind rare so long as rarity also makes it more likely that the item will be useful.
Having a fulltime job and playing 3-4 hours every evening I have found so far (playing a barbarian):1 set x-bow - - - 2 blackthorne items - - - 3 earth set items - - - 0 immortal king
Some of us, including me, LOVES Korean grind type of games
Except Diablo has never been a "Korean grind type of game."
If you want that then go play one of those. Stop forcing ideals of people who literally die at their keyboard from video game addiction on the rest of us gamers FFS.
I would love for them to implement a catch up system better than just shards.
My idea would be a second vendor similar to Kadala that sells any legendary in the game for forgotten souls. You go talk to them and up pops a search window where you can search the name of the legendary you want to but.
Downsides and to throw in some RNG - they would be stupidly expensive (100-200 forgotten souls depending on the slot) and you have no say in what the item rolls.
I love my crusader and wish I could efficiently do T6 on him. I've done 110 hours of farming (mostly T3 speed rifts with 6 min clears) on him and have had 0 class set items drop.
My second alt that I just started playing a few days ago is a WD. I've had 3 class set items drop in 15 hours of farming. My WD has been extremely lucky and is almost as geared as my crusader in 1/10th of the time.

While I know D3 isn't WoW, i wish they would add a daily/3 day/weekly quest which once completed allowed you to reroll all the affixes on a class set item at the enchanter. That way when you finallyget that piece of a class set and it rolls horrible stats you have a chance to make it better and get some use from it rather than the current position where it sits in your stash making you dream about what could have been.
Given there is no trading, i feel class set items are rare enough drops for this functionality, especially if the quest reset is long enough so it cant be abused.
In my opinion, the main issue with the class specific sets is not their drop rate, but mainly that you can get the same piece more than once and there's no way for you to choose which one you get which makes it very hard to complete a specific set. One of the most important aspect of the set pieces is that they offer a different game play (most of the time, but not always). For example, the earthquake set and the charge set for the barbarian both give you specific game plays that require the set to work, the problem? I want to play the earthquake barb game play, but since it's 100% luck dependent, it's possible for me to NEVER complete the set and experience it.
I don't think you should be handed your set pieces by the game, but i find it sad that more than 90% of the community will NEVER get to experience the game play given by those sets. Playing a higher torment is a different challenge, but using the sets is a different game play, you should be able the experience all game plays possibilities that a SINGLE PLAYER game has to offer without having to WORK for it. Grinding/farming is not working as long as you enjoy it, but when you don't get any fun out of it and simply ''play'' to get to finally enjoy the game play you really want to play, there's something wrong. If it was a multiplayer game, i wouldn't mind you could trade items to get to the game play you want, it wouldn't be 100% luck related, you have options to get there. But as of now, only lucky people get to enjoy something.
This is not about ''farm a lot and you'll get it'', putting effort in the game will not necessarily earn you your set items, with the current information we know from blizzard, getting a full set requires you to be extremely lucky (only a few % of the player base will be as lucky as you and get a full set). If you consider it fair, then i'm glad you enjoy it, but i would like to know that after 300 hours of game play with the same class, i would get my set, and finally get to enjoy it, but as of now Rng is Rng....right?
I know RNG, but playing at least 4 hours (usually even more than that) every day since RoS came out, and grinding T1 since 3 days after launch and only seeing two class set items really sucks. I don't care if you think I'm whining. It does suck and it feels crap, especially when I see others running around in full sets. It's frustrating.

I'm around 40 Black Thorn's pieces and 1 Raekor 2 Might of Earth Pieces. I think it's ok they are rare as it is end game for most classes. Though rng can be extremly frustrating at times
When i read topics like this, I die a little inside. There is thousands of games where you find loot easily enough, why do you need to bring this game to same level when you can just jump to another game.
Some of us, including me, LOVES Korean grind type of games, and I even feel that drop rate here is too HIGH. Getting around 30 legendary items per day with semi minimal game time is just stupid, I really hope Blizzard won't listen to whiny little men any more.
We are probably playing different games
2 legs per day is great for me. Usually it is 1 leg per 1-2 days (about 2 hrs per day). No set items yet I wish things to be changed and cross my fingers for the next patch.

It seems that set Items are to low, I seem to find 1 peace every 24-30hrs of gameplay.
I currently am farming Rifts non stop daily.
I play in a full group.
has anyone found a method to farm greens Other then Rifting?
things get worst when u reach 4/6 pieces, too many repeated set drop and u cant hit ur 6 pieces set bonus
u're not alone, keep farming, good luck.
ONE... unreal. some people have full sets in 1/4 the time played, makes me wanna rage. RNG is RNG

But that's cool. I played Diablo 2 for years and never saw a single class set item drop there either.
Can't have a loot lottery without some real jackpots.

i would agree with a somewhat higher droprate in relation to regular legendaries.
i would love to find some class set items for other classes (with their respective smart rolls obviously).
