For a long time now, news has been basically at a whim. Weeks went by and we adjusted our standards, style, and output based on what situations dictated. Now that Diablo III news is going to be flying at us like campaign speeches during presidential elections, I'd like to take the time to analyse what works and what doesn't work, what you like and what you don't like, what you want to see more of, and, in a more general sense, any other suggestions you might have pertaining to news only.
Some recent things we have been doing to bring front page readers only the most pertinent information:
+ Limiting front page news to new information and diverse/interesting editorials
+ Forgoing the prevalent abuse of useless Bashiok detriment (no offense, we post the stuff that matters--we still love you :hammy:)
Please feel free to contribute your opinion(s) in posts in this thread.

I opted out on the last question as I feel even 1-2 articles per day is too much. Could just be me though. One article each couple of days sounds fine.
As for the tone of the news, I think we are used to different styles through each news reporter. Each should stick to his own style since I've been used to expecting a certain type of writing from Zhar, another one from Scyber, and you and Don.
I honestly don't find any better than the other. It just adds a nice personal touch of variety when reading articles from different members of the staff.
In addition to more serious diablo-related news, I like the community spotlight and the lighter side of the blues.
Blues not in the news makes me wonder why it wasn't in the news in the first place and why it is now if it wasn't worthy at first. A casual thread somewhere in the D3 forum should do it.
I have no problem with the way it is right now. If anything, I'd like more posts on actual D3 development rather than Blizzard related events (10th anniversary, Blizzcon, ect.). Although, in lack of actual news, I'd like to see some more opinionated take on the details of the game.
Maybe, at the end of every month, you post a rundown of all the D3 development related material on the home page, something we can all see and marvel at. That's really all I want so people have a reference they can, well, refer to so they can eliminate redundant posts.

Very well.

That's about it. Nothing new to add really.
Then yes, that would be valuable new input. Thanks!

I totally agree, but that's not our fault, :P. If there's no D3 Dev news to post about, we can't just make stuff up, :(. well actually... we could... heh.

This is actually a good idea. Well, would be a good idea if there was enough material to cover. Something like this would make sense once D3 gets closer.
