Now i'm sure 1000 of these have already been made, and I've read various threads on here as well as on Blizzards site as well.
However, with that being said, i'm not the strongest with computer specifications and would like a second opinion if my pc will run d3.
Thanks guys, really appreaciate it.

You may need an upgrade. Your graphics card is equivilent to an onboard card and the processor is very old. Dual-core will likely run D3, but it would need a dedicated video card to supliment the lack of processor support. It's possible that it will run at the very lowest settings, but it's unlikely that it would be an enjoyable experience.
Yeah. I've played on machines well below recommended for WoW and the like and the game played fine on low settings.
/disagree
ive played machines that had spec above minimum WoW and SC2 settings and wouldnt play without lag even on absolute minimum settings. maybe other variables were involved but honestly your not safe with minimums or even recommended, a little cushion always helps and any game on absolute lowest settings looks like dog sh*t, so... yea spend a few bucks so your not looking at square blocks
But yeah, 100% agree its going to look like crap, wither it works or not. But yeah I have a few peps that have below minimum and it works rather well (well... rather well for what it is, HORRIBLE looking, but plays at a solid 20-30 fps) which is not that bad tbh. (resolution can play a big deal in it.. notice the "resolution" they are using for it =P
The link I listed has some laptops for about ~$600 that should be able to play it at about mid mid-high. Someone in the thread confirmed skyrim at close to high.
But thats if your 100% set on the laptop. Desktop will get your a lot more bang for you buck.
But regardless trying SC2 is still agood idea, if you are not able to even play that, then you can rule out d3, if you can play it, and you think it plays ok, then you might have hope.
Yeah I would definately need a laptop since I'm considerng working out of my province and If thats true I don't want to be lugging around my desktop!

It's probably going to cost more to upgrade my laptop than to just buy a new one, and yeah while it may be possible to play d3 on this computer, I want it to be an enjoyable experience and for it not to be bogged down and all pixel-like.
i was actually thinking about a vidock4 external gpu. But you have to have a express card slot of 2.0. Most computers laptops that are 2 years or older dont have a 2.0 express card.
OS: Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 (Latest Service Packs) | Processor: Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 5600+ 2.8 GHz | Memory: 2 GB RAM | Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® 260 or ATI Radeon™ HD 4870 or better
what blizz means by "recommended" they actually mean playable. if you have the "minimum" system requirements you wont be able to play even on absolute lowest settings without major lag. you can very easily buy a desktop PC for less then $600 that is double the recommended settings for D3 if you build it yourself from newegg.com.
No, these "recommended" specs almost exactly describe my PC and I run 1920x1200 with everything on high/ultra with perfect frame rate. Recommended means the game will run fine.
Ok i've decided to buy a new laptop. Still need a bit of help choosing one though!
What is your budget? 400-700
What country will you be buying this in? Canada
What size notebook do you prefer? 15.6"
Would you consider a refurbished laptop? Maybe
What are the primary tasks you need this notebook for? Web Surfing, school related and able to play d3 on medium-high settings, It won't be a total gaming laptop.
What games will you be playing? Only D3.
Where will you be using this laptop? Will be used different places and Will stay on desk
How many hours of battery life do you need? honestly, anything is better than what i have now. 3 hours is plenty (my computer now maybe only gets 1 hour if i'm lucky)
Will you be buying online or in store? online or in store
Which OS do you prefer? Windows 7
List the screen resolutions that interest you: Whatever looks good lol
Do you prefer a glossy or matte screen? Glossy or Matte is fine
Is the laptops design important to you? Not particularly.
Approximately what date will you be buying this laptop? Probably closer to the release date, need to save up some more $
How long do you want this laptop to last? 3-5 years
How much storage capacity do you need? 500 gig. I don't NEED this much but thats pretty standard for most laptops now anyways.
Are you interested in SSD for storage? no
Do you want a built-in optical drive, what type? Just a standard. Blueray is not necessary
I'd say something along the lines of the Acer Aspire.
It's a 17" screen, but if it is mostly staying on your desk that shouldn't be a problem.
It meets everything else you asked for aside from maybe the 3-5 years thing. That is really down to how you plan on using the computer for the next 3-5 years. I'd personally suggest looking into desktop. I know you said it's not an option but you can get SO much more for the same price. Or perhaps think about raising your budget a few hundred?
EDIT: I should have mentioned that this notebook should net you medium/high settings according to other users in this thread (I don't have a lot of exprience with mobile GPUs).
EDIT2: Yes, they are talking about Macs, but they are similar spec to the laptop I linked at the top
I think I'd rather eat cat food through a straw than game on an integrated GPU. I would shop around
This, so much lol. I would never attempt to play games on an iGPU. They are really only meant for "workstation" computers (IE: people who only need a computer for internet browsing and doing word documents/spreadsheets)
If you don't need to be mobile there's no reason not to buy a desktop.
This, even more. Unless you constantly need to take your computer places get a desktop. They really arent hard to move around; well, until you get into "super tower" range (IE: HafX, Antec 1200,Temjin 7)
If you still insist on a laptop, I really don't think you will find anything better than this one for your price range.
Yeah I would definately need a laptop since I'm considerng working out of my province and If thats true I don't want to be lugging around my desktop!
Why not just keep the laptop for regular tasks, and keep the gaming desktop computer at home? There seems to be no reason to buy a brand new laptop that is capable of running games, unless you are constantly on the move or enjoy lan parties.
No point in trashing a perfectly good laptop.
Use the laptop for laptop tasts, and get a desktop for gaming imo.

8 gigs of RAM (PLENTY!!!!)- minus $50,
No SSD (IT'S JUST A LUXURY) - minus 85 dollars,
Go with a less expensive motherboard, you can get a great one for around $100- minus another $100

TOTAL: $890, And this rig is kick A**-Shipped
P.S. Diablo 3 doesnt have a release date yet, so buy parts only on sale, could be even cheaper if you wait and bide your time.
More advice, I hope I'm not being an A**, Sorry:
The new Nvidia cards are coming out really soon, I suspect we'll see them WITH Intel's new Ivy Bridge CPU, on Friday at the PDXLAN 2012. I believe they will be released shortly after that in april??? (Please don't quote me on this, this all from what I've read online If this happens prices will drop on the CPU and GPU, therefore making it even cheaper, if you can wait.
If your a student, your univerties technology support center, should have a shop for repairing students pc's and is usually free! They'll help you build your whole computer if you'd like.
IMPORTANT: If you are a University student you can purchase the windows 7 pro upgrade for $65 I think. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A PREVIOUS EDITION OF WINDOWS ON YOUR PC, or... just install windows 7 and you don't have to enter a product key for 30 days, then install the upgrade over that, IT WORKS! After installed it is a full retail version, not OEM.
Time: It took me 6 hours to put everything together, install drivers and updates, I think I'm a little slow.
EVGA has a 90 day step up program on CERTAIN cards (CHECK EVGA FOR LIST) So if you buy a card and aren't extremely pleased with it, just pay the difference betwenn the cost of your card and the new card, ship them your card they send you the new one as soon as they recieve yours (literally, they have it packaged and waiting to ship so when your old one gets there, your new one goes out ASAP, at least thats what EVGA told me when I asked them how I got my upgrade so fast, really good customer support.
And those of you worried about needing a laptop for school, windows 7 professional can be remote accessed, if your desk top is on, you have access to pretty much everything, and set up for this is easy. Just keep your old laptop for school, or get a net book and if you need something you forgot on your desktop, you can get it no problemo. I'm a College student and this is what I do.
I really hope, I dont sound to braggadocious, or like a but hole, I really hope this helps D3 FANS get an awesome computer for cheap, I need alot of good people to play with online
I want everyone who wants to play D3, to be able to play it and other games for a while
Yours Truly,
MANOFKRYPTONAK
Feel free to post questions, comments if you have any. Thanks for reading my ideas! HAVE A GREAT DAY
