Such usung frostburn, slow time, ess of johan etc and what will or will not work as well as taking mobs along blackhole etc. And saying "zdps" is dead isnt really an answer. No the current concept of zdps is going to be dead and thankfully buried. On top of the +dmg that zsaders zmonks and zwd bring, the biggest aspect of them in high end gr was to stun, fear, and blind all enemies permanently so that the two DD only had to focus gear stats to damage. That is the meta of zdps, and it will completely change. Support based playstyle will still exist, they haven't hinted at or begun nerfing of that on ptr. With the upto 95% cc prevention mobs get in 2.3 you won't be able to lock down even trash mobs for the extended period you can now.
Pulling, buffing will still totally exist. I also have a feeling that the current changes to DD specs may cause the ideal group to be 4 full DD who each in one way or another offer support (dels wiz or non dart pet Dr as examples). Already on ptr we have seen unoptimized NEW builds that are easily able to crush 55+ . On top of that we have changes to mobs dmg and health.
As you said I do feel that if a zdps of sorts is to be viable on live, an ep monk is most likely. Something along the lines of quins t10 goku monk.

well said. I appreciate the intelligent reply. Im looking forward to season 4 for sure, it will be really interesting for sure. The short time I spent on ptr has been quite fun tinkering around with different combinations and such.

ZDPS doesnt just mean witch doctors. It also means zCrusaders who buff :-)

far, FAR more likely it'll be Crusaders. Their buffs are literally twice as good. I think ZDPS Monks days are numbered; Those dumb Wiz ET bracers might actually be good now, plus Wizards will bring far more damage then any zdps monk. We shall see.
I might have worded it wrong, yes the current supports wont work anymore. It does not mean support will be dead as im sure people will make some sort of hybrid support dmg build. And that was my intention of this thread.
Perhaps you are unaware of the new Shared Experience change in 2.3.... which has effectively turned XP-Leechers into group XP Boosters. Season 4 will see more BornCain's than we've ever seen before. Zdps wont have the same CC it used to, but it's shifting towards buffs/debuffs. And unless you're pushing GRs, running without at least 1 booster will be sub-optimal.
Yeah it's like nobody in this thread has payed any attention to PTR. Support Barb is mandatory for high GR group play because it brings huge dmg reductions (shared ignore pain especially), decent dps (de)buffs, and can pull mobs. For speeds you want 2x XP supports which is pretty much barb + pull monk because you don't want any +CC from supports since it will prevent the 2 monk dpsers from proc'ing broken promises.
Support barb is only a thing due to a bug with their helmet: Skull of Resonance. This helmet is bugged and ignores the current DR system, effectively giving barbs a way to perma cc. This is unintended and has been addreissed (blue post) as a bug by blizzard. Any "support barb" builds we see now will not make it to live, as they bring very little outside of the bugged cc and a decent ability to pull (which monk and sader do better while bringing dps buffs).

Lol no. Look at Dutchfreak's gr74 4p setup, no Skull of Resonance... Barb brings a good share of offense, huge defense, and a long range pull.

Im curious if anyone has any guess of what the next support class will be. Will a freeze/palm be the be new meta? Please comment.
im working on a cold wiz . once i get to test it ill be posting the build ( it might not be zdps but it will be support eather way )
zdps Crusaders even more important then they are now in s4.
Whats wronwith zdps pull monk with lostsod plus dmg debuffs? Great for speed runs
If Blizz actually manages to "fix" CC, then a class that can pull mobs along will be the new "zdps".
