This thread is for the discussion of the story, where its going, where you’d like it to go, also questions about the campaign (which hopefully can be answered) these sorts of things.
Rules
-After the Initial part (prologue) is over and done with, if you want to take a small group of the people from the thread and shoot off somewhere and go kill a dragon or go treasure hunting in some abandoned tomb, you can.
-Also the NPCs I made in the character thread are available for you to use, (just don’t go killing them off, ok)
-There shall be no in-fighting, save it for the forces of evil, or rip each other new ones in PMs, so do not do it in my threads!!! Well if an evil mage were to charm you or use a domination spell, then maybe you could fight someone else in the thread.
-Due to this taking place in the world of Sanctuary, or any of the other worlds for that matter, this does mean you can find/have items from that world, but I will make this absolutely clear You are writing a story not coding a game! A Sword of the Flame does not do +24 fire damage, its burns with such an intense heat, it quarterizes flesh as it tears through it.
-In regards to the use of the various skills in the games, your character is assumed to be capable of performing all the skills of their class, so long as you are fully aware of the limitations of the average character and/or the spell/skill you are using. Trying to “Bash” a mega demon is probably not going to kill it in one hit, though it might do some serious damage to it. You don’t have to make your character pound away at a demon for hours on end, but neither should you make them Über powerful, most of you are capable of finding a middle ground.
-In regards to DnD portions of this little campaign, you can use which ever edition DnD rules you are most familiar with. This includes the use of sub classes and sub races, as different versions, have different sub races and sub classes, some not found or available in previous versions.
Example of sub classing: Fighter (Berserker) Example of sub racing: Elf (Moon Elf)
-If you need to go inactive, you can give someone permission to use your character, otherwise you better get your character to the nearest town and have them hold up in an Inn or Tavern for the duration of you inactivity.
-There shall be no leet, no text or chat speak in here. You are to use language conventions present in medieval times and that which is found in medieval literature, or medieval fantasy. Basically what you would find in LOTR, or from a whole host of medieval fantasy games; Diablo, Warcraft, Icewind Dale, Baldur’s Gate, etc. This is medieval fantasy role playing, not crazy barely able to understand it mumbo jumbo.
-Your character can curse, cuss or swear, but like stated above, it must be medieval-esque. “I shall send you to Hell you evil Bastard!” or “You arrogant mongrel half breed bitch!” This is not GTA, so I do not want to see a whole bunch of more modern words we use commonly that did not exist back then.
New Rules may be added if they are needed, Rules may also be edited if the need arises.
-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
I've noticed a couple of bio's that don't really match the setting of the RP. It may be okay to let them slide for now, but it's up to Elfen to approve or dissaprove any characters.
I'd like to also tell everyone that they have to read EVERYTHING when role playing like this. You may want to do something on your own in your posts, but without reading everything that's going on you will miss something important. Role plays don't lend themselves to skimming.
It's fine to go out on your own sometimes, but working other people's posts into your own enriches the entire story making it more enjoyable for everyone. For most posts you type, include at least one thing about someone else's character, be it something as simple as noticing what they look like, what they are doing, or even moving to converse with that other person's character.
I guarantee that will make this rp far more interesting in the long run.
I made my class, Vampire slayer, is it okay cuz it isn't given here.

I actually enjoyed yours Genesis, and I'm excited to see what you write when we get this all going.
Zubin's was good too, an enjoyable read. With this being a more midieval setting you may want to edit those bullets out and replace them with arrows or bolts or something. Unless you meant bullets from a sling. No guns in this one.
If Elfen wants any of you to change anything in your bios I'm sure he'll let you know.
Ive never even attempted an RP before, Lord Mantis is my character information (which I've altered slightly) acceptable for a RP?
The common games worlds used are Sanctuary (Diablo), Azeroth (Warcraft), Fae'run (DnD) Old World (Warhammer), and Hyrule (Legend of Zelda), but they are not the only ones you can use, so long as the world you use is medieval, for example you could use Erathia (Heroes of Might and Magic), Albion (Fable), Middle Earth (LOTRO) if you wanted to.
you character must also be true to the world you come from, ok so throughout the course of the games you come across a few oddities, in BGII you came across Drow, yet you couldnt be one yourself, for example. But since Drow do exist in the BGII game world, Fae'run BTW, thus you can be one in the RP thread, if you want to.
I made my class, Vampire slayer, is it okay cuz it isn't given here.
I'm not overly familiar with that world and/or it's classes, but if you want to be a Vampire slayer or hunter, there are several options available to you from DnD, the Paladin sub class, the Undead Hunter, or a Ranger who's favourite enemies is Vampires. But I suppose we could always try working something out prior to the "storyline" thread going up.
Most of you are aware i use MSN/AIM/XFire, so you can contact me on them to get some quicker responses than trying to do it through Email/PM/threads

Vampire slayer is kinda medieval, paladin slay undead but a vampire slayer slays ampires and werewolves only (other monsters in emergency).
This is from Adventure Quest, hehe.

I posted my character with an unfamiliar race to many. Let me know if you want me to change it to stay within a certain race guidline. I posted the Backstory for my race of choice, and I feel it is very suiting. Let me see if I can find a suitable replacement in the world of sanc.

"Pking in Softcore, is like two deaf kids yelling at each other."
Like I said before, the "storyline" thread won't go up until there has been a few more people posting their characters, and they have made sure that both they and myself are happy with the character, I'm pretty laxed on characters, not everyone here is a total game world nerd, and knows a world like the back of their hand, so a few minor issues are bound to happen. But I am allowing some time to "iron" them out.

With the addition of Stormcat, that makes 17 people, excluding me. And no, I won't be my SICK char, as is the case with Silver, there would be some balance issues. Plus I have enough characters to be as it is (see below, under players list)
I won't throw the actual RP thread up just yet, (partially becuase i'm still fine tuning it), incase people want to edit some things, and/or we get a few more players. but 17, should be fine.
Currently we have;
TehStickleman
Winston
Sessler
AlphaX
Carloseus
Genesis
Caliban
Zubin
Lord Mantis
Jetrall
Sofawall
Thasador
Phrozen Dragon
No Explanation
Silver
Stormcat
Think we are just waiting on Ajax and Murderface, if they are still interested.
17 + 11 (that i made) 28 characters. plus I have to be any and all townsfolk, villagers, city dwellers, enemies, Mini bosses, Bosses, random quest assigning NPCs, talking sentient weapons/suits of armor (if there are any, and I might add one for funzies), random magically talking objects like a statue.
so yeh i think we got enough.
I don't really want to spoil things, but neither do I want people to be aww gay, if i had know that was the story i wouldn't have joined, so the basic storyline for the prologue, (i.e the bit we all have to do) is a city under siege by demons, mostly low level minions but there are some tougher guys too.

I'll more than likely be dealing with the other sides of your conversations/battles. But I will also be working the enviroments, falling debris, bogs, swamps, rivers, forests, scree (loose rocks) slopes, etc.
Murderface dropped out, just waiting on Ajax, 24 hours, he doesnt post, then i'll post up the "storyline" thread.
oh BTW once the story thread is up, with there being about 18 of us playing, it would probably be a good idea to refresh the thread often, incase someone got in and posted before you did.
1 open thread
2 begin making post
3 copy text
4 refresh
5 paste text
6 continue writing
7 repeat 3-6 until finished with post
and hoepfully no one beat you to it.
you don't quote posts in these sorts of threads, and while I can just delete out posts, i'd prefer to not have too.

Do not forget undead minions, cuz i can only transform into a caster when fighting with undead.
