Heyyy i know theres some significant thing about a meteor in d3, but what is it? hahaha is that like the story for d3 or something? like the meteor smashes into the cathedral after d2? so confused, someone enlighten me please!?
You know just about as much as we do unfortunatly... All we know is that the meteor has awoken evil. That's it. No word on what the meteor actually was.

Ohhh okay, have they told us if the meteor was after or before D2:LoD?

I didn't think so much as the meteor being the cause of evil, but more like the indicator of evil. Like it sign that when the meteor fell, it would be the time of when evil awakened. Basically like a super bad omen.
When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram Cathedral seeking clues to defeat new stirrings of evil, a fiery harbinger of doom falls from the heavens, striking the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. This fire from the sky reawakens ancient evils and calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells once again.
So basically it's a sign that trouble is coming. What it actually is, is debatable.
I think the whole meteor incident is supposed to be one of the greatest mysteries of the game. A mystery that involves numerous quests to unravel. It's not something to be taken lightly.
Do you suppose that the biggest piece of the meteor is the one that struck the church? That meteor in the sky looks big enough to create an explosions equivalent at least to an atomic bomb. I've actually wondered if what what we see hitting the church was just a piece of the meteor breaking off while the big piece landed somewhere else far away.

Quite possibly, but that would most likely mean it's just a meteor then and nothing more. So it's less fun to think about.
Unless one part was Imperius, the other part was Tyrael. Tyrael landed in the cathedral, Imperius who knows where?
My personal theory is the meteor is Tyrael being cast from Heaven and the small sparks we see coming off in the cinematic are his wings burning off.
Oh...really? I believe it is simply a meteor but also an omen. Or to humor you, it could be a meteor, but it could have been caused by an event in the High Heavens. Not implying the High Heavens are directly above Sanctuary. But I think it's just as interesting to be just a meteor and nothing else but what it represents which is doom.
I had figured teh blue light was just something relating to the skeleton king and his undead.
I have a serious feeling that all of you expecting Tyrael to be cast out or turned evil will be dissapointed.

There you will find the gate to Hell opened before you. You must find the courage to step through that gate Marius. Take the stone you hold to the Hellforge, where it will be destroyed. Now run! Take the stone and run!"
I think it is an Omen (siaynoq), I think it is a mystery that should be unravelled (so us being one of the first to play D3 will be very good to get the full effect of the storyline), and I also think it was either dramatic irony or purpose that the meteor landed on the cathedral. I also think Imperius came out of it, or something else, rather than it being just a meteor. Who knows, maybe it was Tyrael who came out of it. Anyone, I unsure about the skeleton king/meteor rumors.
No one really knows what happened to tyrael after worldstone bit. Maybe he went up after 20 years, and then got the boot. Maybe he isn't being banished at all..
Mmm, nah I don't think so. I don't see how even in this fictional setting a thing like that could blow up, go up into space, and come back down as meteor or even as harmful debris.
oh, i know... maybe is tyrael that was expelled by the worldstone explosion... that's why he goes directly to tristram... to meet cain and warn him for something or whaterver
I'm confused.
How does the meteor hit Tristram? In the cinematic video it shows the meteor hitting a place near a very large city. Also, showing the impact, it shows the view from behind two guards on a high edge of perhaps the said city's castle? Where near Tristram was there a huge castle?
I probably am getting something HORRIBLY wrong, but that's just what I saw. I think...
It's 4 AM, I don't know. I just want some confirmation. In 20 years did they build a kingdom?
Most people believe the big dark crater to be the remains of mount arreat and the worldstone.
Not sure who the soldiers are, some have thought it was Harrogath, but it says on the Website that the Barbarians have dissappeared, so who knows.

See the blue light coming from the hole it left. Unless for some reason it's normal in Sanctuary that plain old meteors leave blue blinding light.
