I don't know. We have a local roasting company here called Cafe Ibis. They roast some pretty sexy oily espresso beans. The Moonshot espresso is my favorite. Pure coffee flavor, no bitter aftertaste (pending a perfectly pulled shot).
Another particularly nice one is Taylor Maid Farms.
That also depends on the skill on knowledge of the brewer. Like I've had coffee and people's house before that was ground for a coffee machine, but made in a press and it tasted horrible. It can taste just as bad if you take grounds for a press and make them in a coffee machine.
Or some people even store their beans in the freezer. Bad idea, especially if they're still whole beans.
I haven't had a chance to try Tim Horton's, nor have I ever felt the urge to spend the money for Starbuck's, but, as far as places like that go, Dunkin Donuts' coffee is the best I've ever had.
I rarely drink coffee, anymore, but I love that stuff. And you can buy the beans at the grocery store, now.
i used to work at starbucks. and when they say the coffees fresh they mean it. theres a place called saxby's where i am and its pretty much the same, just not as expansive when it comes to drinks. but dark roast and creme and suger is all i get.
is tim hortons a place or a brand of beans?

I find the coffee is very good about 60% of the time, and is completely burnt/ 80% water the other 40% of the time. Not to mention I think they are the most inefficient "fast food"(they are usually gravely slow) establishment I've ever been to. I can't speak for every Tim Horton's out there, but I can for the three or four I frequent, also I find questions asking as to whether ir is a restaurant or a coffee bran pretty funny, not because it is a stupid comment or anything, but just because here in Canada the name is as recognizable as Wal*Mart or MacDonalds that it's really weird to hear someone not know about it.

But I never drank Tim Horton's, so I'll stick to Starbucks. They have nice blueberry scones.
