I think the real question is - Can you shoot the wings off a fly?
Did you get to fire a Barrett sniper rifle? God... those things make me moist
I think I saw several flies without wings close to the targets I shot at. But as for the sniper rifle, no I have not. So far just shot the M16A2 Service Rifle. I'll be shooting alot more weaponry in the training I still have.

Yeah, congratulations, I'm sure you're now a killing machine capable of fighting in the name of democracy across the lands! Welcome back, Carly.
No one but Thasador and maybe Jarhead (which I heard got banned) are authorized to call me Carly. You have been warned. Thanks for posting though just know your life is in danger when calling me Carly.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
Anyway, I hope you don't have to fight and actually risk getting killed. Or maybe you relish the chance to serve overseas?
Yea I hope I don't have to actually risk getting hurt or killed. Going overseas would be a bit of a plus, we get combat pay (aka risk of people shooting at you) but again, I wouldn't want my family having to bury their oldest son.

Unfortunately no. MCT will have ALOT of other weaponry though, I hope we get to use some of those. I personally wanna get behind a 50cal and shoot it. Those things are friggin loud and powerful. My uncle was a machine gunner in Iraq, he says their fun.
I am sorry that you have to deal with people that don't respect your commitment to the US military. It is very honorable. You scare me when you are so agressive and get so angry at others who make stupid comments. I would immagine you've been agressively trained during that arrogent bush administration, so I hope you didn't have to deal with too much crap.
Also, please try not to worry about those idiotic people who think that raping their own women and placeing road side bombs to kill as many people as they can for the sake of their own religion is ok. I don't see how anybody could take pride in that. I was born in a jewish houshold, although i'm really not all that religious. I think that religion may have its purposes for teaching morality, but too often people use it as an excuse or justification for violence. Israel has had to deal with ass holes like that for as long as I can remember. I swear, some of these people wouldn't know the difference between a rain forest and a pop tart.
I am also concerned about the mind set I've seen from some of my friends that have returned from the US military. They seem so angry and arrogent in a violent way. In a way, is that because the service is so traumatic?
They sure the f*&% don't scare the people in Israel. Perhaps their "gods" will reward them with fifty virgion men when they kill them selves in a bus with explosives straped to their tuchuses.
Sorry but what the hell kind of chickenshit are you talking about?!?!?
What religion are you talking about? Please tell. Ive never heard of such a religion you talk about.
Edit: Oh ok, thanks temporalsky, for deleting... Hey how'bout we move that to the million thread. Who doesnt enjoy religious arguments, as long as its kept to spam. I personally dont have anything better to do.
I was going to wait for you to clarify but i just had to add this: I thought its mostly the American soldiers (who maybe simply go insane) who rape women they capture?
Dude... The hell... Those shitheads are known to force captured prisoners to ... have sex with each other? I mean ... two men. Forced.
(And no im not saying that every US soldier is that way (it would include Carloseus i guess. :P). Just "generally", its obvious which side is suffering because of what.)
First of all, stop talking about your religious crap here.
Now, US Army right? First of all, they were a bunch of retards that made their organization look bad, and so the organization made the whole military look bad, and so the military made the country look bad. There is a HUGE difference between a Marine and a "soldier". Try it. Go up to any Marine, even me, in person and call him a soldier. You'll be lucky if you can stand after the beating you get. The differences are huge, a soldier is not put through as much hell as a Marine does in Boot Camp OR battle. A soldier is not as fast, strong, or disciplined as a Marine is during everyday life or in combat. There is a reason why its "The Few, The Proud, The Marines". And thats because of the sacrifice, the effort, and the fortitude it takes not only to become one but to be one.
I know you were trying to be funny, you miserably failed. Take this as a simple lesson:
Yep, as soon as you get off the bus and every week during boot camp. Two weeks before your done they don't cut it, and the very last week your there they just cut the sides. Looks pretty good actually, I've always had it like this so it wasn't really new to me.

Anyone who thinks that Islam, the religion as whole, is obviously bad* in any way, is badly misinformed at best, ridiculously retarded at worst. Period.
If anyone has something to counter this, please move it to the spam section and we shall discuss it over there.
*When i say "obviously bad", i mean like ... most of the human society would label it as ethically, or better yet logically "bad" or "wrong to do".
Whew, slow down.
It has been said by someone that the Arabic people over there do ... bad stuff to each other or whatever. They have been insulted, in the end. And i was simply pointing out that whatever seriously inhumane stuff goes on over there is not theyre own fault. I dont know what "part of the US" causes it, but i sure know that its not the whole of it. But ok, im sorry if i downgraded the Marines to the level of US soldiers. I am honestly not informed on those things at all.
P.S. got to admit that the less educated parts the Arabic society can be pretty damn retarded as well. Its obviously less of a problem in the west nowadays.
(With retarded i dont mean the scientific term, but the "daily speech" usage of it, you know. But sadly, after all, they are just educated very badly etc., they arent born that way either... Well whatever, cant do anything.)
You made me LOL. Period. If you have a problem with that, please take it to spam.
Was that a bad joke?
Islam nor religion was not brought here in ANY way shape or form. That guy was just trying to be intimidating/funny/prove he's dangerous over a keyboard. The actions of Abu Ghraib weren't brought up either except by you. And now your bringing their education problems into this! Move on please, I'd rather this thread stay full of welcome backs and questions I can answer. Genesis is being an awesome example.
I know that theres a lot of focus on firearms and similar "modern-combat" specific training, but hows it with physical training?
You say its pretty intense, but a big part of that is mental, not?
I think 3 months is a good amount of time if the training was planned well. What level of physical feats could you achieve?
The physical training is just as demanding as the mental, whenever you aren't physically training you have Drill Instructors teaching you things and paying attention to every little detail on how you carry yourself. Little things like always having your hands rolled into fists and twisting them so your palms don't show as your standing at attention, or having your hands straight and fingers together (knife hands) whenever they aren't at attention or doing something. The way you sit, the stress you and the platoon are put through really take their toll during the 3 months. Not to mention when you have to tell a Drill Instructor something, screw up, and suddenly have 3 of them yelling in your face that you screwed up and to do it again, but keep screaming while you try to say it right.
If you wanted to know about the modern combat, we just learned the bare basic combat fundamentals such as positions, how to move in teams, keeping low profile, things like that. MCT, Military Combat Training, is what I'll be doing next, and that will put me more in-depth as to how to operate in combat and such. As well as give me some experience with many of the weapons the Marine Corps uses.
Eh, I can climb a very steep mountain with an 80-100 pound pack on my back. Lol. I can run three miles in 20min 40sec, do 7 dead-hang pullups (double what I went in doing, I got long arms ><) and 112 crunches under 2 minutes. I can throw a man my weight over my shoulder and run, i don't know what other kinds of things I can describe. I am in the best shape of my life, and I was in horrible shape when I went in. If being in shape is a factor for people joining, I say forget about it and just join. You'll struggle and suffer a bit more, but it's definately worth it. You'll feel much better coming out with lost fat and gained muscle. I myself went in weighing 156, and got out weighing 178. I didn't get fatter, I gained alot of muscle. I look very similar to what I did before I went in, but I'm faster and stronger.
Sounds pretty damn cool. I really want to join something similar, just not military oriented, one day. Never got "tested" mentally, and i would sure enjoy the physical aspect of it.
Sadly the only one of those physical feats you described im familiar with are the pullups. 7 dead hang sounds pretty good. I wouldnt be able to do any better with my body weight of about 120 lbs, and ive been doing them for quite some time.
Though what im proud of are the muscle ups i can do. (But cant promise very good form while doing them. =P) Ever tried any? They require a "different" kind of strength though, not to match with normal/dead-hang pullups. I remember doing 6, but not caring about form at all (in that case the only thing that classifies them as muscle ups are that both elbows raise above the bar at once)...
Oh and i can jump rope pretty well.
Should do more running...
I wish I could do more than 7, but yeh. Run alot more, and sing a song while your doing it. Helps keep your mind off the pain.
Hill sprinting isn't as bad as walking up a hill at a mules pace.
You don't feel the pain nearly as much with every step when you run. I hill sprint from my home to school which is on the top of a very steep hill, every other day.
I think youre supposed to do them in the form of intervals.
Just do them untill it DOES burn. LOL
Are we getting off topic?
Bombs are flying
People are dying
Children are crying
Politicians are lying too
Cancer is killing
Texaco is spilling
The whole world has gone to hell
But how are you?
Longer endurance training isnt much my thing... Maybe im just lazy or afraid of the pain. LOL
Hmm... Hill sprints anyone? I should do them.
Anyway...
Do you do heavy lifting as well? Barbells? A pair of big dumbbells? Sandbags?
Hows it with power/speed? Plyometrics?
Actually sprinting up a hill is MUCH easier than going slow and steady. Unfortunately you are surrounded by people and therefore have very little space to sprint without running into someone. Thats besides the heavy ass pack on your pack. The Reaper is after 2 days of hiking and obstacles so your already drained, and throughout the 2 days you get 3 MRE's, which equate to a single meal. We hiked an estimated 56 miles during the Crucible, so needless to say you are tired, sore, and hungry unlike you have ever felt when you wake up at 2AM and start the hike to the Reaper. You hike 5 miles up and down hills to the Reaper, and after the Reaper its another 5 miles to the Parade Deck where the Eagle Globe and Anchor is awarded.
And as hard as it sounds, and as difficult as it is while your doing it, it is not really about physical strength and endurance. It factors in, but its really a test of how strong you are when you are in pain, whether you can push through the pain and hardship and accomplish your mission. Your enemy is not the mountain, it is the other side of you trying its hardest to drag you down. Will you let him or bash him in the face with the butt of your rifle and finish the climb?
Join the Marines and you'll definately learn to face your fears and learn to love the pain.

Thats one of my favorite cadences while we run. I'm sure everyone knows what a cadence sounds like, someone sings a line, and the rest sing along. So you hear pain!, and then the rest sing PAIN!! It's pretty awesome. We did the Moto Run, which is a 4 mile run on Familiy Day and your family watches you run. Moto stands for Motivating. Anyways we ran the entire 4 miles yelling cadences at the top of our lungs and we didn't feel anything. You'd think we'd be in pain because we were running pretty fast and steady, and all the yelling takes your breathe but on the contrary we only got louder. It was one of the coolest feelings I've ever felt.
