Hey guys, I was just wondering what peoples opinions were on if i should pick up the devil may cry series. I know i had fun with 2 (which supposedly sucks compared to the others) back in the day, but i never played the others and I didn't beat 2.
one of the only series from the last gen of consoles i had the pleasure to play....if you liked 2(the worst one BY FAR) then 1 3 and even 4 will blow you away.....go get them NOW
haha ok sounds good. But i have one question...can they stand up against God Of War? I love the atmosphere of Devil may Cry.
hard to say....there definitely in its league IMO but god of war is probably a bit better in terms of overall quality....still tho get the DMC series its worth every cent
I really liked 3 and 4, haven't played 1 or 2.
I liked 3 a bit better than 4, because of Nero being a bit of a wanker but other than that the games are great and really worth your money.
haha, I have a good PC (runs it almost perfect) and I have a ps3. I would probably be getting 4 on the PC though. I will just use a ps3 controller to play it.

They are awesome. Here's the quick breakdown for you.
1 is hard. No real guide for moves, no help, no way to replay missions until you beat hard (which means you can't even stall your way through difficult missions, because you can't farm red orbs for items). Personally I'd say the first one is the most brutal, especially since the camera and boss battles weren't as developed as in the following series. But it's amazing, especially the battles against Nelo Angelo.
Music of this game is great.
2 sucks. It's the easiest, most boring, plain, and dull. the music is pretty good however, and it introducred bloody palace. Boss battles are sometimes good, but the demon form and item and attack arsenal of Dante leave so much to be wished for.
3 is awesome, but make sure you get the special edition so you can play as both Dante and Virgil. The third is great in terms of combat, music, boss battles, cutscenes, enemies, demon form, attacks, secret levels. Great game, arguably the best in the series.
4 is awesome as well. Obviously the best looking, has a more fleshed put story than the rest, good music, fun enemies (except for Blitzes, they suck). A little agitating that you can't play as both Nero and Dante in all missions, but that's something you'll just have to deal with. Definately harder than 2 and 3, don't know about one. If you get it for the computer, you also get Legendary Dark Knigth Mode, which is just ridiculous. The screen gets flooded with about 20 enemies on Hard difficuly strength, and there's absolutely no way for you to throgu hit unscathed. Great fun though, especially beating around 10 Frost at the same time
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

yep devil may cry is a most for fighting game enthousiasts
a must for enthusiasts
But anyway, devil may cry is fast-paced, and rewards skill. The most important thing I've learned is to learn enemy movement patterns. Only by knowing what the enemy is about to do, or even better, what they will do afterwards, will allow you to surive in the harder difficulties.
Oh yeah, difficulties, how could I forget them? DMC4 has the most in the series, and they are:
Easy
Devil Hunter (Normal)
Son of Sparda (Hard)
Dante Must Die (Very Hard)
Heaven of Hell (Everything dies in one hit)
Heaven and Hell (You die in one hit)
Legendary Dark Knight (Like hard, but at least 5 times more monsters)
I've only gotten to must die in the fourth. It's seriously too touch for me to beat, and I don't have the energy or time needed to learn the bosses good enough to get through Must die without using lots and lots of items. And that's no fun.

I've played 1,2, and 3, and personally I liked 1 and 3 much better than God of War. The atmosphere, weapons, and combat just felt much deeper to me, and I didn't like the puzzle parts or the trigger events during certain creatures/bosses in GoW. Also, DMC 1 & 3 are more challenging than GoW, which I felt was really pretty easy.

Have you played the fourth?

You can say that again. Devil May Cry is very unforgiving at higher difficulties. Well no, it allows you to try however many times you want, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll succeed. You can't bang your head and just hope it will work

I liked Nero gameplay-wise, just not character-wise if you know what I mean.

All DMC games are fantastic, end of discussion.
