Anyone else looking forward to this game? Here's the 1st gameplay into trailer.
Needless to say, I'm hard as a fence post after watching that. The game has a shit-ton of features, check them out.
[spoil]Full ecosystem, with predators and prey.
40 different types of animals.
All animals can be killed. Some can be skinned, and the skins can be sold
Can play Five-Finger Fillet (the game where you stab a knife between your fingers as fast as you can)
Can lasso wild horses, break them and saddle them
Area is said to be the company's biggest environment (bigger than San Andreas), with three regions: Prairies, desert and mountains.
Day-and-Night cycle, weather changes and seasons
Animals will attack you and NPCs
Hundreds upon hundreds of random scenarios involving NPCs, creating a living world. One was described as "NPC robs a man, then gets pounced by mountain lion." Another is "Man sticks up another man with a gun, bear comes through and eats him."
Every building can be entered
Loads of side-missions and random events, including ambushes and people asking for favours
Can enter NPC's houses, kill them and steal their loot
Any weapons you're armed with will be shown on your skin. If you're carrying a knife it will be seen strapped to your belt, etc.
Can ride horseback. Use spurs to increase speed, but if you use them too much the horse will buck you.
Carriages and trains make up fast-travel. You can experience it in real time or "take a nap" and wake up at your destination for instant travel.
NPC's will rally together a posse to bring you down if you commit a nefarious act, though it's not exactly a wnated system
As your wanted level increases so does your fame. Pedestrians will warn each other to give you a wide berth.
Even if you manage to wipe out a town it'll repopulate in 2 or 3 in-game days.
It will have online multiplayer, said to be "Players charging around on horses and stagecoaches and trains, shooting each other".
Main story missions are said to be slightly fewer in number than a GTA game, but longer
Aside from using the lasso on animals, you can use it on people, to capture and hog tie them, which is useful for collecting bounties.
If you try and tame a horse and don't do it successsfuly, the horse can drag you off.
Guns will have realistic accuracy.
"Deadeye mode", which allows you to drop into slow-mo for targetting, and later on paint targets you want to hit, then go back into real-time and automatically fire off those shots. Sounds kind of like V.A.T.S.
Cover system for gunplay similar to GTA IV
Uses the Rockstar RAGE engine as well as Euphoria
Vultures can come and eat at the bodies of your fallen foes[/spoil]
Nah it's just this series has always been console based, Red Dead Revolver was a console game so they gotta stay true to the roots I guess, I feel for ya though, I had only a PC about 6 months ago.
I don't like the whole western theme, despite that it sounded like a good game though and I almost wanted to buy it, then I found out there's no PC version.
I hate playing on a console anymore I feel like a caveman.
Sorry if I am necroing but I just need to say this
This game is honestly the best game I have ever played. Everything about it is just how games should be. Please go buy it, for your own good.
Bleh. Sure, it might be a good game, but its confirmed console only. Its stupid bullshit. I know they said shit about the GTA4 PC version, like it was not worth it, and people are whining and its not worth doing.
Their plan was obvious as it was stupid: release, on purpose, a shit PC port of game that only works on shitty service pack 3 (seriously?), whine that your players are not happy, and because of that say you won't release your games on PC anymore.
Oh yeah right. That game and their makers are deserving of no respect for that. This is not the kind of games that were supposed to be console exclusive all their life, like a lot of games are. But hey, who gives a shit about PC users these days, apparently nobody.

The gaming world is sad.
Well just because a company chooses not to release a console exclusive title to PC doesn't take away from the fact that it is a great game.

Well of course not, but there are ways to do it. For example, I love Metal Gear Solid, and I don't -attack- them for not releasing the whole thing on PC (though I wish they would). Its all about how its done, I guess. Of course its worse when games before came to PC as well: suddenly stopping to provide that is shooting your own customers in the foots (only those affected, of course).
So even if this game is the best of its genre ever done, I certainly don't want it praised. Developers like that don't deserve that money. But everything I said isn't about if the game is actually fun or not to play, I'm not trying to make anyone think this game sucks.
I was planning on picking up a copy of this game and renewing my XBox Live subscription when I have finished with this test I have in a couple weeks (june 7th). If anyone plays it on XBox Live and still finds it worth playing, I'd love to get some online action in with other d-fans. Also, if anyone wants to comment on how well the multiplayer holds up (read: stays fun) over time, I'd appreciate a real person's opinion as opposed to that of a review site.

I've never played a Rockstar game I actually liked, but I intend to give this one a real chance. I like the western genre and always wondered why they didn't try it more in video games. I only wish I could play as a female character though, but ah well.

I will be preordering this game ASAP.
I presume they'll pull the same move as always, release it first for the consoles, then for the PC, but confirmation would be nice
*searches*
No, they confirmed that there will be no PC version, sorry
Battle not with monsters lest you become one.
Oh, that sucks. Seems like Rockstar is leaning on the wrong side
