I have created this thread with the soul purpose of finding a deeper meaning in the runes we have become so accustomed to over the last few days.
Frostmourne- A frozen mourning.
Hel- Hel derives from Proto-Germanic * khalija, which means "one who covers up or hides something"
Akilae (SC rune)- Aquila constellation is identified with the half eagle, half human deity, Garuda.
So either tyrael is hiding something in that frozen prison or he is traped there, hel could also mean punishment. Akilae could also mean greatest. greatest punishment frozen sadness.
Tyrael would have faced judgment for interfering in mortal affairs. Greatest punishment would fit there. I don't imagine the agrinis council would have taken his punishment lightly. He was in fairly cold place when he destroyed the worldstone. There is the frozen sadness part.
The third rune I think is more symbolic than the others. There are seven circles on that rune, it may be symbolic of the seven circles of hell in the diablo universe. One of the circles is highlighted, that may be the location of the picture.
Current Theory:
I think the prime evils wanted their soulstones destroyed so that they could return to hell and reclaim their throne. Before they returned to hell they needed to soften it up. What better way than to destroy the worldstone, unleashing a holy/unholy war between heaven and hell. When Belial and Azmodan were all but defeated they would make their return and become rulers of hell once again. I believe Tyrael tried to stop them but was overcome by corruption in the presence of two prime evils within tal rasha's tomb. He pretended to befriend you and led you to all of the prime evils and their soulstones in order to break them from the mortal realm. After killing baal Tyrael destroys the worldstone in order to set the plan into action. Tyrael is soon after banished to an icy tomb to spend all of eternity in a frozen sadness by the agrinis council.
There is no deeper meaning... 3 runes... 3 games
If you start analyzing pixels, resolutions, random numbers and trying to find secret hidden meanings then your stupid

These aren't random, I am using the definitions of names of the runes. Its probably the most simple examination so far. If you don't want to discuss the implications of what these definitions might mean then leave.

well hey, to be fair, if everyone just took the picture for a picture, no one would have viewed source, we wouldnt have any concept of the numbers "04" "15" and "23", we wouldnt have any concept of "Tundra" "Cavern" and "Icy" and we wouldnt be gawking over a purple penguin named Ducky
and btw, theres 6 symbols, not 3, read my thread for explination

And we wouldnt be trying to find out the deeper meaning in those things when they probably mean nothing at all...

Are you people fucking stupid? these are the definitions of the names:mad:of the motherfucking runes! Do I have to spell it out? Tyrael is hiding a frozen sadness.
Frost mourne- frozen sadness
Hel- to conceal
Akilae- eagle or constellation.
And we wouldnt be trying to find out the deeper meaning in those things when they probably mean nothing at all...
right?
well yes, but at least by having these over zealous hunters we manage to find things like ducky its more fun to find them and talk about it than it is to let blizzard work at a scavenger hunt only to have no one realize they did it
but im not arguing, this guy IS going off into the deep end.

Tyreal is hiding a frozen sadness...inside an eagle?
dolphins ejaculate with enough force to blow a hole through a human..........
and as for Tyrael hiding something, that doesnt really seem to fit in with the story and style of d2. as we have seen him he seems to be quite straight forward and basically incapable of evil, i at least got that sense from Izual. speaking of which, has anyone ever actually listened to what he says. its quite interesting and tells alot about the diablo universe. it would be nice if someone could post it
