This is such a great post. NIIIIICE. I love it. This makes complete sense and is very comforting about the release of info regarding the next few classes!! yaaaaaay! =3
Ranged class, come to meeee my chiiiiiiiiild hahaha
This also is a consolation of how far into the development phaze this game is. They are working at a steady pace, just as bashiok said.
Hey all, this is my first post, but I was wondering which inventory system was going to be used, in the gameplay media release, they have a 3d rendering of your hero, and then different slots alongside him/her
However, on wikipedia, they reference the media release of screenshots on blizzard.com and the inventory does look quite different.....
Which one do you prefer? seeing as the video was release june 28th, 2008 and the wiki image says may 30th, 2009 I'm guessing the wiki image will be used. However, I do not like this inventory as much as the one where you can see your character wearing your items. I think it's more world of warcraft-y, and the wiki image looks more like D1 to me. My vote still goes to the gameplay video inventory.
Good catch!
IMO this is plausible and just because there are not many spots left, that doesn't mean it should be discredited.
They could easily categorize a group of similar monsters to fill one slot of the 42 total. So we could still get a lot of monsters in the process.
And I doubt there will be a substantial amount of cities upon release, especially if they hope to expand the game later, as it looks like they do.
I'm sure they want some bosses left over for expansion(s) as well.
Seems like they're not going to charge us monthly but maybe they plan on releasing a good amount of costly expansions instead.
Good idea Shisou, but I think it might be wrong. In the Dark Cultist page, it says Entry No. 0042. This means that there could be over 1000 entries... So d3 will not be done soon...

The two preceeding 0's could also be because there are over 1000 pages in his notebook while only 42 were used, or it could mean absolutely nothing at all. The fact of the matter is that what is labeled the 42nd is also noted to be the last entry, meaning at most 41 preceed it and none follow it. It's not really disputable.
I just noticed that on the sanctuary map you can now click on some locations in order to reveal details about them... we only have caldeum and tristram for now but I'm pretty sure after blizzcon we'll get some new ones
They aren't GOING to announce everything the game has. They just won't. And I'm happy for it, because when I start up the game, I won't already know every single thing about it. That's just stupid.
Yea I'm going to have to agree with Dill. Sure we might get the first 2, maybe 2.5 acts from this journal, but are we really supposed to expect this guy to travel to Hell, or even the Dreadlands?
Of course, I'm not saying that this isn't a great way to see what we have to look forward to, I'm just saying that although all 42 entries will probably be filled before the release, that is not the limit of the monsters/locations we will see.
Either they aren't going to make a page for everything or we're looking at a very limited monster selection considering that all of the monsters we've seen thus far are all Act I (besides the Dune Thresher and the Gluttony guy).
I apologize in advance if anyone else has said this, honestly I haven't read all the replies...
Just wanted to suggest that as has been done with the Khazra, Fallen, and Skeletons, it's likely that many monster types will be lumped into one journal entry. So we could get one journal for multiple closely related units.
I noticed the page entries before, but they were all over the place. I don't think blizzard is going to stick to the script on this one. But, maybe they will.
I found it very intriguing how they told a story with every update, it really gave you that sense that you are reading something that you wish you could experience yourself. Of course we will all experience it our selves. It becomes a sort of destiny for every fan/player to conquer Sanctuary. This is just another example of how Blizzard is able to harness our imagination.
if the journals were by Deckard Cain then i would assume they encompass everything.
but since it is just by some glorified clerk/journalist who was too afraid to enter in the dungeon in New Tristram, i'm sure his journals don't cover everything.
Tristram is in act 1, and Borderlands is in act 2, Thats already confirmed.
While Jay mentioned that the story will begin with the hero trying to discover what the cultists are doing in Tristram, we have absolutely no info where Act II will take place. And no, the trailer with the Monk killing the Morlu caster is not info.

lol it can still easily be a ranger since who said you cant shoot arrows at melee distance xD

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees
