I don't think anyone's saying movement speed doesn't have value, it clearly does. But is it more valuable then AR? Clearly not and it's easy to see by the relative value of the 2 main legendary boots ice climbers and fire walkers. A perfectly rolled pair of rare boots with main stats, AR + MS are very valuable just like the legendary counterparts. Without MS they would still have value, clearly. MS is a secondary stat, required for "godly" boots but Isn't necessary for a pair to be good because as a stat MS holds less value then AR, and primaries and its more likely to be compromised in favor of these other stats. A simple search of the auction and this is easy to see.
Comparing the value of two stats is not viable, because it depends on so many other factors. Personally if I had to choose between AR or MS on boots, I would choose MS because I can go without the AR. But that choice is moot because Immorta King boots guarantees to have both
You can't really use Ice climber/Firewalker as a comparison because Firewalker has such a weak base stat, whilst Ice Climbers has great base stats, in addition it is the only boot in the game with a socket, plus it has the potential to roll higher than the maximum allowed for the slot.
really nice spreadsheet.
I guess theese are nice guidelines for SC, and many of the stats can be reduced at HC.
Since the market is way smaller there are also way less competition when you first find really good gear, but for the same reason people also do buy worse gear for more than they would on SC, since you also risk getting to 60 and then die before you find anything selling for a lot.
I will take a look and see if there are changes that *must* be done for hc later, maybe when I come home ^^
After thinking about it, MS on boots does seem a little silly to have as a "Mandatory" stat, but it does feel more important and most other stats. Simply because when players are searching for upgrades, they are going to be adding movement speed into those filters.
I think the problem is the word "Mandatory" in my list. Even the mandatory stats on here are able to be dropped if you had good enough roles in other important stats. A 180 Int, 180 Vit, 75 All resist bracer still has a high value even if it doesn't have crit chance. But it would be hard to sell since no one is searching for crit-less bracers.
What would be a better title for the highest tier stats other than Mandatory?
Yup, movement speed is pretty valuable once you geared up (as he said ^).
Is it overpriced? Might be, but the truth is, if they weren't selling for those prices, chances are they would've dropped steadily over the past couple weeks (since 1.0.4 - which added auction cancels at anytime).
I agree completely that Movement Speed is valuable as a stat - my response was in rebuttal to the statement that boots without movement speed are worthless, which is entirely false. Movement speed and value are not mutually inclusive with regards to boots. They are an additive value and nothing else (maybe multiplicative at certain gear levels, but certainly never in a negative fashion when absent).
Even the statement that "everyone searches for that affix" is completely false, or the boots without MS would never sell (and they do, for fairly profitable amounts of gold). That was my only point - to stop the generalization that a single stat makes or breaks every single item in a specific slot, when that is never the case.
