Just curious, in the user CP why does the avatar have a larger file size limit (488 kb) than signatures (19 kb). That seems backwards to me, as generally signature images are larger.
Dunno. It's never been a functional issue because everyone just uploads them to an exterior site and puts them in the IMG tags in their sigs. It is an odd inconsistency, though.
Only moderators and admin can have animated avatars. Animated signatures, anyone can have. (As long as it is a *.gif file, flash signatures are not allowed.)

Sigs are never uploaded directly to the site, but rather to an image hosting website like Photobucket or Imageshack. I guess the file size limit is then rendered obsolete.

If you want a bigger file-sized signature image, use an exterior website to host it. Thread resolved.
