Of all the quests in Diablo, I think I like the Lazarus one thw most, followed closely by Lachdanan. The last time I played through Diablo, I got the Warlord of Blood quest for the very first time ever, and now I really like that quest as well.
7 or 8 items that sell for 10000gp each, one super kick ass monster to fight, and a spine chilling monologue by said monster.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
I wondered if it was significant that the Halls of the Blind is shaped like a figure eight. Perhaps I'll have to count next time how many of those things I slay in that quest.
I have wondered about that myself. Are the bounds of Isometric view at play here. Is the 8 suppose to be infinity? The symbol for infinity is an 8 on its side. No I don't quite think so, not quite oriented the right way. Are they suppose to be eyes? Ironic if so, being it is the halls of the blind and all, but still circles are possible in Isometric, those rooms are clearly square.

They're only square because all maps in the game use straight edges for borders. For whatever technical limitations, I say put those aside and let us just imagine they are rounded off. I think representing a pair of eyes is an interesting possibility. Or the infinity symbol as well.
The Butcher was just awesome and has my vote. Ahh, fresh meat! He was insanely beefy and hit you so hard when you were just starting out. First monster that you had to truly fear and run away from. If you went and leveled some though and got better gear, he became a push over though but for like a lvl 2 character to open up that door and to have him come after you... it was either pure terror or excitement (or certain death lol) ^^

You must be rushing through the levels. I am usually around level 6 or 7 by the time I fight the Butcher, and that is without going to level 3 of the Cathedral before fighting him.

Dammit, i STILL haven't seen the Lachdanan, even with all the times i've played through the original Diablo, the game ALWAYS just decides to give me the warlord of blood. I even beat it again a few weeks ago as a rogue. I just want to see that quest!
Steel lords on level 13 means warlord of blood and no Lachdanan. Any other Demon Knights on level 13 means Lachdanan no Warlord.
Chamber of Bone, Lazarus and Diablo are the only quests that will appear in every game, without fail, everytime.

Hehe it's the opposite for me. I always got Lachdanan until my last game, in which I got the Warlord quest for the very first time.
I love most of the Diablo quests because they all show Blizzard North exploring their new game series and trying to find their voice. Many of the quests seem to take after other fantasy games that had preceded it such as the Magic Rock quest with its "find the treasure and bring it back for a reward theme." In Diablo 2, Blizzard North would dispense with quests like the Magic Rock and Arkaine's Valour because they didn't really relate to the lore that Blizzard North was trying to concentrate on and thus, couldn't be elaborated on. Still, all these quests are really enjoyable because the designers clearly were having fun dishing out old fantasy cliches and exploring all the possibilities of the dark fantasy action-rpg genre. Overall though, I think my favorite quest was the Halls of the Blind. I just love the poem for it and the quest's anguished atmosphere.
Most memorable is the butchers quest and Halls of The Blind - omg, that poem is super sweet (and super scary), i always remember it and i just love killing Illusion Weavers - they just die so sweetly (SFX was awesome!).
Yeah, I love that quest too. It's great cause so far down you're not really expecting to see anyone friendly at all. His voice was really cool too. He totally sounded sad and broken.

The butcher was scary as hell back in those days. Give me the chills everytime I fight him.
=3
i didnt like doing lachdanon so much cuz i hated having to search the floor for this tiny little thingy
its not like it was a giant mushroom patch or anything it was a tiny little thingy the size of a potion xD
and no alt in diablo 1 so it was just annoying lol
Be my Buddy =^.^=
Only one stat point mind, and you can purchase more of those potions later for 50 grand a pot.
I agree with you though - it is a very worthwhile reward, unlike an item that becomes obsolete.
