If they did make it for a console, the ps3 would seem to be them one they'd do it for. Sony would let them use Battle.net, the PS3 has excellent Mouse and Keyboard support, and of course they have a hard drive standard on all consoles. And all though I would love it on my PS3, they should focus on making it for pc/macs first.
Well to answer the question D1 sucked on the playstation. As for D3 going on a console blizz stated that it will not be on a console and that they are interested in console games but that they would make a brand new game for a console if they did.
Or at least thats what they said in a video interview from some where. I can't give a direct quote becuase of all the vids I've seen in the last 3 days lol.
i think they're not doing it on a console, because they said its PC/Mac exclusive.
And btw, Diablo was one of the most horrible games i've ever played on the Playstation, it felt nothing like the PC version and thats most likely the reason they're not trying anything on the consoles.
It could work on the PC, Xbox 360, and the PS3, and I believe it should be implement on all three since it would reach the widest area of players. I do not own a very good computer, but I do own a PS3 (and a 360, but I don't like it as much- that is an argument for a different thread, though.)
There's no point saying not to do it on consoles since it's not going to affect players on PC's.
Gameplay changes dramatically when restricted to a simple controller. How would multiplayer work? Split Screens I think would ruin the feel. Also why would Blizzard want yet another middle man selling their product? (Microsoft, Sony, ect)
Why? What problems does it pose? If it's the same exact game, I see no bad in it. If you have a problem with consoles not having keyboards or something, I know at least the PS3 has USB slots. The game is also featuring voice chat, I believe, so a keyboard would not even be necessary.

Who said that split screens were necessary? Just make it 1-player on each console. You don't have split screen for PC Diablo III, do you? No. No reason to implement it on a console, then.

Because selling it on more systems equals more money, and we all know that's why businesses exist- money.
Its just the input stage would feel rather strange, using a joystick as such really doesn't compare to a mouse. Also the rather Orthographic projection (view) doesn't really suit for console. It would need to be a Third Person shooter style camera, in which case it would no longer be an RPG.
