I'm currently on Windows XP, with an 8800GTX graphics card. My monitor is known to be shitty. Before I installed the latest driver for my GTX, the screen wouldn't turn on unless I unplug/replug it about 200 times. Now this problem is solved upon installing the new driver. Also, before installing the new driver, the NVidia control panel would freeze up, and wouldn't open; now that problem is also solved. The new problem is that I can't change my desktop resolution above 1024 by 768 pixels. This was a problem before I installed the driver, but the problem didn't come up until lately (couple of days before I installed the new driver). At first, unplugging the screen, then replugging it in the second graphic card port solved the resolution issue. Now, however, when I try to change it, the screen turns off, then turns back on shortly afterwards, but the resolution is still the same. What's the problem? How can it be solved (if it can be, that is) ? Any input would be much appreciated. For the time being, I'm too lazy to go pick up some monitor to test if it's a monitor problem, and not one with my GTX. I'm leaning towards the possibility that it's the card. If that's the case, and if the problem isn't fixable, I'm looking at 700-800$ to get a new card, and a new power supply since I'd be getting a better one.

I'm guessing hardware is more expensive in Lebanon? Because that sounds like an insane amount for just a card, nvidia's top-end product goes for 600 currently
As per your problem, I have no idea. What video problems I've ever had have always been black-screen problems or crashes, nothing like this.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
Did you remove all the old drivers before installing the new one?
If you want to make absolutely sure its not a driver problem then uninstall the drivers, reboot into safe mode and use a program called Driver Sweeper http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
Make sure to only remove the "NVIDIA - Display" driver files left over. If you mess with the "NVIDIA - Chipset" and actually have a nForce chipset then... thats a real pain in the ass
Go back into normal mode and install the Nvidia driver again (186.18)
Then theres the actual monitor drivers. I'm guessing its an LCD. You find those on the manufacturers website naturally
