posted a message on How long do you think it will take you to finish Inferno ?
I chose 1 to 2 months, based on how much I anticipate playing. It could take longer though, and I hope it's hard enough that it does.

There are many reasons to use a 1H that I've found:
    -Bonus weapon damage
-Attack speed (to boost crit count and resource generation)
    -Shields

I haven't seen anything that exclusively synergizes with a slow 2H.
Theoretically, WD abilities would function better with slower weapons, due to reasons previously stated.

Also PvP, for burst damage. Faster weapons, and dual-wielding, tend to provide more sustained damage than bursty damage.

If anything it will probably be easier for melee now.
Is there even any difficult champion buffs for melee now?
First one I thought of was Molten. Nightmarish could be another.

    Anything short-range or on-hit, really.

You'd be surprised at the challenge ranged face dealing with champion packs. I was leveling a DH last beta patch (before they buffed damage in 15) and I almost died to a pack of champion scavengers outside of the northwest gate. I couldn't slow them with Caltrops. I had to run back to the gate and have the guards help me kill them.

It was the closest I've ever come to dying in beta.

posted a message on All Of This Inferno Talk Is Getting Me Really Hyped
Yeah I'm hyped even more, if it was possible. I just have to get out of my head the thought that it was a nerf to Inferno, when it was actually a buff to the last two Acts. I keep thinking they made the first two Acts easier, but it's more like "possible" than easier.

After going back and rereading it, I'm wondering what he means by this:

    Official Blizzard Quote:

    • Longevity. We know people really want goals to work towards and challenges to overcome. We made Act III and Act IV really, really brutally hard, for the most elite players only. It felt wrong to make ALL of Inferno that brutally hard.
Does that mean they made the beginning of Inferno easier, the end harder, or both?

Previously, all of Inferno was level 61. Does that mean the beginning is, say, level 59 and the end is 61? It sounds like they lowered the difficulty of the beginning, which I don't really like. Then again, I hadn't played it on Inferno. Maybe everything being 61, even the beginning, was too impossibly hard. Who can say?

If they made the beginning 59 and the end 63 (for example) I'd be fine with that.

Hell yeah, Bashiok. Fight the whiners and the casuals.
    4) Not everyone is going to get to Inferno. I thought Blizzard said a while back that most players will quit after Normal? So...rather than letting everyone play around with rank 1 runes and at least see the various effects you aren't going to let them see them at all?
Totally! Reward for more invested players, and very likely a way to entice players not to just stop at Normal.
I love this. Make us work for everything, please. Don't hand stuff to casuals. Don't make this WoW.

Think of it this way: it prolongs how long you spend trying to beat Inferno. Previously, barring boss mechanics increasing in "difficulty," if you could beat Act I easily then you could beat the whole game easily in Inferno.

Now it progresses in difficulty like any other mode, making it even more challenging.

I never even thought about Inferno previously being all level 61. It didn't occur to me that this meant it was the same difficulty throughout.

I gotta say now that I think about it, I like this new system better. I wouldn't like the challenge not increasing. Good change.

    Magic Weapon OLD
    Level:20
    Cost: 25 Arcane Power

Imbue your weapon with magical energy, granting it 10% increased damage. Lasts 120 seconds.

    Magic Weapon NEW
    Level:22
    Cost: 25 Arcane Power

Imbue your weapon with magical energy, granting it 10% increased Physical damage. Lasts 120 seconds.
What do you guys make of this? Increased basic attack damage? If so, it seems really useless, which makes me think my interpretation of it is wrong.
Nah, man. I think it just means that the increased damage is delivered as Physical damage (instead of Fire damage, or Poison, etc).
That's what I was thinking otherwise. It should probably be further clarified to say it affects your abilities' weapon damage coefficient.

posted a message on Two-Handed Weapons
I'm thinking that equal level one-handers and a two-hander will do roughly the same consistent damage, but each style has differences to it

Two-handers will probably be the best for PvP, since, for example as a Barbarian, your Fury spenders are going to hit for a lot more, thereby creating more burst damage. Over time, that two-hander and two one-handers would do the same DPS, but this is PvP and you want your damage now to kill this guy, not later.

You guys also forget that while, yes, one-handers hit more so their +Damage affixes will fire more, but two-handers will have higher +Damage affixes on them to compensate for slower speed.

I also like what someone said about the WD wanting slower weapons due to the risk of running out of mana, since his man regens at a fixed rate, and his spells don't have a variable cost based on speed, he wants the most bang for his buck.

In beta right now though, with us one-shotting most everything anyway, you'd want a fast weapon or two to maximize attack speed, and therefore maximizing killing speed. The extra damage on a two-hander is wasted in overkill. This won't be the case in release, since we aren't gonna be level 13 doing Cathedral Level 3.
