Sounds like it might be fun. I'm gonna hold off on starting anything until patch 1.13 comes out. If it has no new content and just a few tweaks then I'm gonna stick to the game I am currently playing. I've been there and done that when it comes to D2. Just for curiousity sake, what character do you plan to play? I always start with either a fb sorc or hdin. Usually hdin on HC as they tend to be more durable and have only 1 monster that is immune to hammers.

Thinking about the trophy case...

My UDIE2 mod editor has an item store in it and it has all manner of odd things that you can't put in game. Such as an ear, tail, fang, horn, elixir, etc. There are also some quest items in game like the golden bird, the organs, horadric scroll, etc.

Maybe that was supposed to be a vault to keep the items after you've completed quests. As for the items that never made it in game, maybe they were things that were cut due to "time constraints."

They were looking at possibilities of certain features to be pay to play I think. This might be something they could consider. You spend 10 bucks or whatever and bam you get open maps for 1 month. It'd piss a lot of people off but I'd probably end up buying it in the end. With the uprising from the diablo community I think they probably won't do something like this.

The problem I had in D2 with getting to 99 was that there was no true incentive. No uber badass gear that could only be worn by 95+ characters or what have you. I ran a hammerdin semi-legit to 99. I say semi-legit because I used maphack but didn't bot it. Regardless it was a hack and doesn't count as a legit 99 character in my eyes. It took me about 6 months running baals from after work until too late to get meaningful sleep to attain.

I just feel that if they had items, quests, areas accessible to only the most elite of characters in D3 that would provide incentive to get max level. The problem with D2 was that by level 75-80 you could wear the best gear, few exceptions.

The only bonus I got was a little bit of added mf from my enigma and a few more life. Very small reward for the time spent. Ooh and when the server lagged and I died, boy would I get fucking pissed. I almost forgot I had the slightest better chance to craft a godly item. You ever see "viciousnugget's Cruel Grasp Vampirebone Gloves" I made those fuckers. Best thing I ever made crafting. Aside from that small feat 99 was the biggest waste of time. I felt like telling people to fuck off when I'd go in game and they'd say "Wow a 99." It was like yeah, big fuckin' whoop.

Get a high defense sacred armor that is eth non socketed and use the cube recipe to socket it and pray you get 4 sockets. The eth bug socket glitch adds 50% defense to the armor then put in the runes and get a 4k defense fort for your merc. Been a long while since I got on bnet but I think I made a 4002 defense one for my merc.

Just thought I'd point out that you can't turn on pk mode until you hit level 9. Level 1 vs. level 5 chars can't happen. At low levels your survivability is really tied to your gear and charms. I've had level 9 chars beat a level 16 on hardcore mode. LLD ftw!

I used to have one named Baby and after about 2 months we started calling him Spawn cuz I swear that thing was Satan's spawn. It'd get all nutty and come running at you sideways and attack your leg for doing absolutely nothing. Or it'd climb the tree and come down like 3 hours after you stopped calling for him. Yeah, Baby was a dick. We kept him for like 6 years and then brought him to an animal sanctuary to live out the rest of his crazy coon days.

Does anyone else feel like D2 is dying?

I'm curious, because for the last 2 years the game is just becoming less and less interesting to play. I feel like a mad scientist sometimes in my computer lair, concocting a new and unfamiliar build only to see it fail miserably or just lack the power to kill at a decent rate. I've dissected the hero editor's and have even made a few of my own custom unique items. I've crafted every single piece of gear you can think of. I've played hardcore untwinked on about 20 chars through to hell baal.

Here I find myself thinking about the 1.13 patch and the fact that I don't see how they can inject enough content to make Diablo rear his ugly head and make me wanna kill him 4 million more times. I'm just bored with everything this game has to offer anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I love Diablo through and through. No other game has captured my attention quite like it. I've played longer than I care to count. Lately though it has lost it's sparkle and shine. I just wonder if anyone else feels like this about D2. What keeps you going on this game anymore?

I've tried it all: PvP, PvM, Crafting, HC, SC, Untwinked, Mods, Hacks, Bots, Cheats, Exploits, Your Mom, My Palm the list just goes on and on. What the fuck can possibly be any fun in this game that hasn't been done 4 billion times over? lol

Also there is an Ultimate Weapon and Inarius didn't create it. I did. Grief. That being said, it was lost in the 20 years since D2 and everyone forgot how to make runewords. No more grief for anyone.

On hardcore I personally prefer to roll a hammerdin. They are very straightforward. Google an hdin build. Look at the skills you will max. Each level you gain put a bit in dex to keep block high(50% or higher preferably). There will be times when you have skills just waiting for levels but that is the same with any build that isn't a total fuckup. I always max hammers a bit later than most people. My justification for this? If you pump hammers up too soon you'll throw 5 and be out of mana. Boost the passives/synergizing skills first. It adds a bit of damage but keeps the mana cost low so you can throw more. Never sacrifice resists for better MF gear. You'll find what you need in the long run. So... points to drive home. Keep block high, resists>mf, least strength as possible, max life as possible, don't rush into the unknown. Slow and steady wins the race.

I've beaten hardcore untwinked numerous times and although a skelemancer is probably the safest bet it is just so damn slow and hell difficulty is so so so much slower that you could roll 3 hdins in the time it takes to do with a skele.

You use Dracul's Grasp, Exile and Last Wish if you want to make a bad manner dueling smiter. Life Tap is kinda lame and a bit unfair in the dueling world.

Also as someone noted Grief doesn't have life tap. It increases attack speed and ignore's target defense and does a very good job at that.

I'd suggest for good manner dueling use some 20% ias gloves, Hoz with a Ber or Um and most definitely use Grief. Other than that the smiter gear you suggest is great. I use Enigma on mine in both duels and ubers, though I swap the gloves and Hoz out for Drac's and Exile for the life tap in Uber Tristram. Use Chains of Honor if you are just killing them for torch. Enigma is a must if you want to set it up for power leveling. With the right charms it doesn't make a difference which armor you use.
