posted a message on Monster Randomness
I think it would be neat for the game to throw random combinations of enemies at you, but I think that might annoy me in a way. I mentioned in another thread that I'd like to be able to see everything in the game in a single run-through. Maybe the dungeon layouts will change, but I'd like to know that I've fought every monster, completed every side-quest, and talked to every NPC. If any of these had a chance of not spawning it would be frustrating never knowing if I've seen everything.

Fixing the rushing problem should be pretty easy, all they have to do is compare the monster level with the character's level. If the monster and the character differ by more than, say, 15 levels just give the player 1 experience point per kill. This gives the player a 30-level range around the monster's level to get decent experience. Then use a percentage system to give them progressively more experience as they near the monster's level. Maybe if they're within 5 levels of the monster they can get 100% experience, giving them a 10-level range in which to get normal experience.

I know it's a similar system to D2, except that a lowbie won't be able to level every 30 seconds in Chaos Sanctuary with this method. That would essentially stop people from rushing altogether.

They can't part an origins movie, since there are so many X Men, and they're planning on making multiple Origins movies, so it'd be near impossible.
I can understand that, and I do hope they make quite a few more with a budget similar to this one, but I hope they try to keep them from feeling as rushed as this one. It almost felt like they skipped most of the storyline and went straight to the action scenes... Granted, your average moviegoer wants more action and less story, so I guess it can't be helped.

Yes, they mentioned somewhere two unnanounced projects, and I'd imagine one would be a tie-in with either Diablo or Warcraft, as I would imagine the mmo to be in the Starcraft world, or a completely new franchise.
There's a news article speculating that Starcraft Ghost could be that next MMO they're working on, here's the link: http://starfeeder.gameriot.com/blogs/The-Starfeed/StarCraft-Ghost-as-next-Blizzard-mmo-hinted-at

I still play Diablo 2 quite often, but I'm quite scared to post my account names on the forum. Stalkers and such... you know how it is when people just love your every aspect...

Anyways, I'm leaving this thread before I catch swine flu from you!

posted a message on America going to Socialism?
TwilightRealm sounds just like my brother. He spouts all the nonsense he hears on Republican talk shows as if he knows everything that's going on. My brother was 100% convinced that Obama was a terrorist, that he wasn't a legal citizen, that he was going to bring Muslim extremists into his cabinet, AND FINALLY that we would become a Socialist nation.

I can't believe everyone still goes along with all that crap that Republican news outlets said as scare tactics. Obama is the President, he hasn't committed any acts of terrorism, he's definitely a legal citizen, he didn't bring Muslim extremists into his cabinet, and we are NOT going to become a Socialist nation. There's a lot more to Socialism than extending a helping hand to a failing capitalist system and promoting healthy citizens.

Interesting thoughts... As far as I gather (please note I'm only 80 pages into the first Sin War book and 20 pages into Legacy of Blood so I may not be the best source) the only angel with a strong desire to see humans succeed is Tyreal who was quite helpful in D2. The other angels don't really care what happens to Sanctuary as long as the forces of Hell don't use the humans against Heaven. Since Diablo 2 was mostly humans fighting demons rather than joining up with them, I don't see a real reason for the angels to try and intervene. Although, perhaps it would've been a good time... since there were humans fighting the forces of Hell it wouldn't have hurt the angels to side up with them, even if only momentarily.

Really that's just Bashiok being silly. They can't always answer every question put before them.
Well, I never really asked him any questions. He should have just ignored the thread. His response added nothing to the conversation, making him just as worthless as all the other trolls on those forums.

I'd like to bring something up in here as well..

How much end-game content do we want to see??
Having end-game content doesn't mean sacrificing the rest of the game. Look at WoW, half the focus of the game exists after you hit the max level, but the lower-level areas, quests, and battle-grounds are still a lot of fun.

Either way, Diablo has never been an end-game heavy series. Fighting Ubers was added way after LoD came out, so I think we can expect little end-game content, if any at all.

First implant lan (as it is now we wont get it) and then implant weird shit like this most people don't care about. :P
It seems to me that this is a VERY popular idea, most people want to see it implemented in some form or another.

I don't understand your point of view on this... How in the world would a Horde mode work as a random encounter? I could see it being a quest, but if you ever played Horde mode in Gears of War 2, or Survival in Left 4 Dead then you know it's all about getting a team together and just doing it over and over again for hours. It would be stupid to only let the players do it once per difficulty. It's also stupid to have to make it fit into such tight guidelines for lore. As much as you guys try to make up excuses, the Cow Level had no place whatsoever in Diablo lore. Making fun of fans doesn't make it fit into the game, it's just a weird event that made the game interesting and fun.

Airandius, you talk about Diablo as if it's the purest RPG to grace mankind, well it's not. If you want to be all strict about how the game should be played then pick yourself up an epic Japanese RPG like Final Fantasy. Oh wait... FF had Chocobo Racing, weird event that was fun, repeatable, and BARELY fit into the storyline. Just face it man, it's a VIDEO GAME. It doesn't exist to be 100% hardcore perfect lore, it exists to be entertaining.

Horde mode fits into the Diablo universe better than pretty much any other gametype that people have requested for Diablo 3, why be so frackin' difficult about it?

That doesn't sound like what you're describing. It just sounds like he's being silly because he obviously can't explain why Blizzard isn't releasing more info other than "it'll come when it comes". Its just how Blizzard works.
Maybe you're right and I'm just reading too much into it, but I still think what Cosmosis and I thought of the post to be true. And Cosmosis, I know Blizzard isn't persuaded by whining, however, no business can ignore the effects of bad press. It makes sense to me that they started greatly limiting information to avoid the bad press they were receiving.

But then again, you're right about all that information coming out around Blizzcon, so maybe that's the case... but it still burns me up that he would respond in such a haughty manner when the main goal of my post was to rally the troops behind Blizzard. He should have ignored the thread entirely if he couldn't explain Blizzard's position.

If you cant allow a player to do what he wants when he wants in your entire game world, such as a level 1 in World of Warcraft wanting to hang out in Northrend, (which they can), then your game isnt fun, its restrictive.
A player should be able to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, wherever he wants, otherwise the game isn't fun? This is a video game, not the Matrix. There are limitations for a reason.

When you leave a bunch of kids alone in a room they make up RULES for GAMES because without rules and limitations a game isn't any fun.

I mostly just read posts, but TBH I read this site for news/updates (which its very good at) I probably wont read it as much when the game comes out unless they make forums for guides to classes.(i.e witch doctor pvp guide, wizard hardcore level guide)

If they do that ill be all over this site.
This is a safe haven for fans of the Diablo series and should in no way be abandoned just because the game has been released! I'm sure there'll be boards for class guides, and discussion of the game will still keep this forum booming. After all, we need somewhere to go other than the cursed battle.net forums
