Jan 14, 2011AlexanderZero posted a message on Male Demon Hunter - Coming by Next Week?Blizzard has been trying to spice up their games with skimpily clad women for a long time, so all you whiners ought to can it. It's kinda cool that they're gonna try doing it with a male character. I hope they actually do a good job though. I don't have that much faith in a bunch of nerdy game devs doing it well, but we'll see.Posted in: News

Nov 16, 2010AlexanderZero posted a message on Blizzard Explores ConsolesA hack and slash can definitely work on a console if the developer designs it to play to the strengths of a controller. Blizzard has already stated that the PC version will remain unaffected by any console ventures.Posted in: News
If they made a Diablo spinoff on console with different areas, spells, and classes then it might be really good. I'm skeptical that it could ever compare to Diablo 3 though. I think the biggest limiting factor of consoles is the decreased network functionality.
For example if a game was made for the xbox 360 would Microsoft allow players to connect to Battle.net without paying the xbox live subscription fee? I doubt it. The ps3 may have less restrictions (I dont know, I dont have a ps3). -
Mar 2, 2010AlexanderZero posted a message on Diablo III, Featuring BoEPosted in: NewsQuote from "Credge" »I've lost it. Blizzard has no idea what they are doing. BOE is a mechanic that is used when you don't want item decay to exist but you still want items to disappear over time so you don't have huge inflation on an economy and eventually end up with an economical oligarchy.
Except that will happen anyway because of the random nature of the games loot. BOE makes sense when X mob has a % chance to drop an item. This way, a player, or group of players, can farm said mob until everybody gets what items they want and then they turn around and sell the leftovers for profit.
So, unless Blizzard is telling us that Tal-Rasha has a 15% chance to drop Tal-Rashas Whip of Ancient Wrappings with this, they've essentially started down the path of an incredibly broken in game economy, an uninteresting small-group environment where hand-me-downs function to create equality amongst members, and a slightly less interesting single-player experience where a handed down item might complete a character build.
A better solution is to just have all items be BOP and completely ignore the economy altogether.
Seeing as how Blizzard is designing the entire game (and hence, the economy) from scratch, I think it's safe to say they know a hell of a lot more about what they're doing than you ever could.
I'm having a pretty difficult time understanding what you're even getting at with your post. Are you trying to say that you wan't all players to have equal gear? Why would anybody want that? - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Also, it seems like none of the stats increase the accuracy of melee attacks. Is it possible to miss when using melee attacks?

EDIT: Plus this is diablofans man. Just read the news posts on the site. They don't miss anything.

Nah probably not. It's not like having a leaked product slate is going to make them work on the game any faster.

You must be a masochist or something hahah.

I would be afraid of ruining the awe and excitement of playing the game for the first time by taking part in the beta. Plus, as people who played the Starcraft 2 beta learned, there are some serious withdrawals during the downtime when the beta ends but the game isn't released yet.
Do you think Blizzard will offer up the whole game for beta testing, or will they release just the first act, or just a few dungeons and PVP? I mainly made this thread because I'm curious to know what the rest of you would do. Would you play the Diablo 3 beta?

WoW is a bad example of the point you're trying to make.

The Monk is extremely fast so he can quickly get into the best position to deal damage and protect himself. He also has that shielding ability for when he needs to stop or reflect projectiles.
The Barbarian brute forces his way through walls of enemies that get in his way.
The witch doctor has more freedom to move around because his pets serve as good distractions for his enemies, and the wall of zombies can stop large groups of enemies from getting too close.
The wizard has the slow time spell which she can use to easily dodge projectiles, and teleport which makes her quite mobile as well.
My hope for hell mode is that the player will have to make safe decisions about where they move and which abilities they use in order to protect themselves from dying. Kinda like how it is in Diablo 2.

Typically non-expansion games that have an all new engine and are basically being created from scratch are released three years after their announcement. I would predict a 2011 release for Diablo 3, or early 2012 if it goes that far. Diablo 3 was announced in June 2008.
