Feb 8, 2010Junction3 posted a message on Female Monk UpdateI like the concept of the female Monk. The best part about it is that she's not flaunting her stuff around like a whore. There is actually material covering her, which is almost astonishing seeing that its the female concept. On the other hand, would a monk flaunt their stuff to begin with?Posted in: News

Sep 24, 2009Junction3 posted a message on Character Energy SourcesI think that you should have to gain your MP. With my system layout you have to come into a battle starting with simple spells and as you continue using them you build up more MP as your glyphs refresh. When you get enough MP you can unleash a complex, powerful spell on whatever you're killing.Posted in: News
You saying that they should have glyphs and always have the MP, you could come into battle using complex, powerful spells. Then, assuming your MP would be regenerating, you can continue using those spells. Basically there would be no point to have the glyphs as you would never need to use simple spells.
@Seth, since quoting seems to be a pain on my phone. There would be 2 glyphs per tree. 6 total. I don't know if you meant 5 total or 5 per tree. But giving you buffs on top of it just being you source of energy would be to over powered, I would think. -
Sep 24, 2009Junction3 posted a message on Character Energy SourcesI agree that the wiz would feel better using mana and the WD using soul or whatever as their energy power, but since blizz said that the WD would be using mana, it leaves me excited to see what the wiz will use.Posted in: News
While working this graveyard shift at work I wrote down some simple ideas for what the wiz could use as their energy power. Basically, it's the DK rune system from WoW, but fitted for D3. Bear with me and my cheesy names.
They would have 1 or 2 'glyphs', depending on what would work better for the feel and pace of D3, at their disposal. 1 or 2 storm, arcane and conjure for each of their trees. Also, like the DK's rune system, they would have 'Mental Energy', at their disposal.
As they use a certain spell it would activate a glyph that would reward them with a certain ammount of Mental Energy. For a simplier spell such as an 'ice bolt' or a 'lighting bolt' (for lack of real spells) it would activate 1 of their glyphs and give them about 10 or so Mental Energy. Now, as spells become more complex and more powerful, the requirements to use them becomes more demanding. So, as you move to things like 'metoer' and 'chain lightning' it might cost 2 glyphs, like 1 storm and 1 conjure, and on top of the glyphs it could use Mental Energy. Even some spells could rely on just using only Mental Energy and have cooldowns on the spells to prevent excessive usage.
Just my thoughts, but I think that the DK's rune system would work well with the wiz for D3. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

The voting for genre has started as of now, Saturday morning, and will end Sunday night, giving everyone two days to vote. Again, we are only voting on genre, no plot, no characters, no races, only genre. For every genres there is only specific plots that can work for specific genres. Everyone has 3 (three) votes and you must use all of your votes, no left blank. When you vote you will PM your votes to me, Junction3. The genres that your voting on are as followed:

4. High Fantasy
5. Pirates
6. Western

I think it would be good, because we can develop our characters, rather than having them already be developed (in the sense of their spells and so forth). Also, everyone would have a complete understanding of what their and other characters are capable of doing. Basically, there wont be an suprise fireballs when you said you only knew mainly lightning magic.
However, like Zhar stated, we don't get to just type out our spells and use all the cool fluff to make it sound awesome. But, we could use layouts for spells that way there is always an list of spells to resort to and when we use them in the story thread we could fluff it up instead of using the actual spell name. For example, the 'character development?' thread would show: Wizard knows Thunder 3. And in the story thread, the player would write out something like: Wizard raises his hands toward the sky as blue energy blows from his body to the sky. Clouds darken the sun that was showing down upon the battlefield. Wizard throws his hands at the zombies that started to surround them as a bolt of lightning struck three zombies dead.
Also, if we don't really have teirs of certain spells then we can hit someone 19 times and not be held back by only having the 10-hits-per-one-target spell, etc.
Either way I'm fine with, but I was just putting out some pros and cons. I haven't seen Turmobil's suggestions, so I can't really base what I said on that, mainly just from seeing what Kamrad did.

Also, Seth, since I made that mistake and typed Aidan rather than Aritius, you are also still at the top of the abyss, meaning you need to make your way down too. In case you didn't notice or whatnot.

Thanks.

Edit:
Nevermind, I see what you were talking about. That was a mistake, I'm just dumb. All the A names got jumbled in my head and I typed Aidan rather than Aritius. My bad, so you're still at the top of the chasm. Sorry for the confusion

Thank goodness he's alright. I owe him my eternal forgiveness, Aritius though to himself with a sigh. Flickering lights appeared at the bottom of the abyss as two guards walked into the chambers with another victim of the Count's terror. Before Aritius could even react, Mentis had flung himself into the chasm off of his towering rage. Fashes from Mentis's chains gleamed about the chamber tearing through the flesh of the two guards. Blood spatter decorated the walls after Mentis's brutality ended and he helped Tyreon to his feet.
"With the raucus you're both making I would be amazed if we weren't dealing with a good twenty guards within the quarter hour..." Aidan shouted down the chasm to the two who await the rest of them. "Some magic would help," Aidan told himself, "if I knew any."
"Weak humans," Aritius scoffed to himself.
"Fethala basreyavaru," Aritius said as his hands glowed. The side of the abyss shoke as rough stone ledges pushed out from the sides forming a means of getting to the prison. Aritius climbed down the side of the wall tired from the magic that he used. He wasn't much of a user himself, but his natural abilities to use magic was handy for situation, such as this.
Aritius arrived at the bottom of the abyss, the prision, to see Mentis and Tyreon putting on the two guards' clothes.
"Guards clothes?!" Aritius exclaims, "Why did I take off that other set?!" he turns to Tyreon to speak, "Tyreon, my remorse is never ending for what I have caused. Please, brother, friend, except my deepest apology for these deeds."

The group pushed their way into the tomb in search of the staircase, but to also escape from a most brutal death of the soldiers. They searched high and low for a hidden passage way to lead them further through the catacombs. Mentis searched diligently until he opened a sarcophagus revealing a crawlspace leading below. One-by-one they all slipped down into the underground hall leading toward the fortress.
They walked slowly through the very dark hall until Tyreon summoned lights to show the way. The hall was still very dim and Aritius couldn't see his own hands infront of him. Loosing sight of the members ahead of him he rushed forward to catch up with them.
"Hey, wait up," Aritius yells into the darkness.
The other members suddenly appeared at Aritius face, stopped. Aritius bumped into Tyreon, hard, knocking him into the reason they stopped.
"NOO!" Aritius yells extending his hand outward only for it to be swallowed into the darkness of the abyss that Tyreon had fallen into. What have I done?! I'm sorry, brother, Aritius thought staring into the abyss in awe.
