I do not want to see mods on Battle-Net. I would like to have offline mods or mods that play on lan. When I talk about mods they are mods like Eastern Sun. Some people think that mods are hacks like map hack and or bots. I definitely would not like to see any of those hacks.
I respect your opinion in regards to mods for diablo.

The mods that I played that changed the game the most is Median MXL, Battle for the elements (BfE) mode from TrueMage also made many changes.
The thing is to try different mods until you find one that you like. -

In my eyes, there's no way they are going to allow LAN. A mod-friendly LAN-like feature in battle-net? Maybe, but again, extremely doubtful.
You can only go so far to modding a game if its not designed to be modded and the source is not open. The time one would need to spend to mod without any support is astonishing and depressing to even consider. Its all good and well if some people are dedicated enough, but that won't make modding alive or important.
And indeed I see no bright future at all here. Until they actually openly state that the game is in some way modding friendly, there's nothing to be happy about here.
Modding should never be closed off. It should never be a doubt. A game should always, always, always allow modding to some level. Give us the source, even. That is how gaming grows as a whole. Its a sin for any developer to ignore this in any way.
I have heard from d2 mod makers and some of them prefer that Blizzard does not support mods. Those mod makers prefer to find out about the mechanics by themselves or as a community and posting on what they did. In D2 it got easier to mod with 1.10 since it opened up more options in the text files. Also at the time the mod making community was at it's most active time. If there were editors and other mod making tools than it would be too many mods out and most of them would be very, very bad. It would be more difficult to find the good ones. -

Blizzard has never supported mods for any of the Diablo series of games. I think there will be mods for D3 since the game is going to be popular. Lack of Multi-player will lower the amount of players that will be playing mods but I do not think it is going to have that large of an impact. The thing that will hurt mod makers is if you need to log on to battle-net to play offline single player.
It is likely going to take time for the mod makers to make any good mods since they will need to learn mechanics of D3 engine and possibly needing to create tools to mod D3. I think most mod makers will also be playing D3 for some time as well before they start to mod to get ideas on their mod.

For example, the extra gold would have to be a VERY(!!!) substantial bonus because with the prices magical items, especially armors usually have attached to them, the little extra gold you got out of monsters could not possibly balance the amount you got out of selling the stuff you found with MF. Overall, extra gold is inferior because MF gives you the chance to find good stuff for your toon, good stuff to sell for extra money or good stuff to break down. Extra gold gives you only the extra money, i.e. 1/3 of what possibilities MF can provide you with, though it does so more often.
Extra XP is a nice bonus (though I don't like the extra XP bonus for killing several monsters quickly). Most likely, when you face the final boss at the end of Hell, XP bonus or not, you'll end up on the same level. Meaning effective benefit is only that you'll reach those levels a little bit sooner. Again, MF dominates here because it can actually make a difference on your end character.
Bottom line is, I personally find MF just too damn powerful even outside multiplayer. With multiplayer, it's an even bigger issue.
The gold you get from a magic or better item might be very low. The drops of gold might be higher to make up for this and with the increased percentage it may make a large impact. One mod I play for D2 Gold Find has a huge factor in the game much more than MF. In Zy-El I have gotten million gold drops from a monster and bought the need items for recipes to make better gear. A million gold in Zy-El is not very much since most things in that mod are very expensive. I would not necessary say that D3 should have an extreme amount of gold but it should be more than normal D2 especially if they want to base the economy on it. -

Blizz KNOWS that a delay won't hurt their sales, the fans have been waiting too long to boycott it after getting butthurt about the length of development.
I'd be surprised if they step up to the plate and get it out in 2011.
Besides that we are likely going to be able to play Beta sometime this year if you are lucky and get accepted. The Beta will calm down many of the die hard fans. -

I like to play more in story mode than in adventure mode since I find it more fun and entertaining. The loot find is worse but still I do not care about uber items since I build ugly builds and have more fun playing that way than min maxing gear.
Not everyone plays the game the same way

If you hate the game so much, why don't you find another game and have fun playing that game instead of wasting your energy hating on Diablo III.

What is more needed is more gear options and hopefully some better and more affixes for all gear types. We also need to tweak more in the skills since most players are only using a few skills.
Adding more areas will not do that much since a few hours of playing it people will state we need more.

People play games to have fun and for the most people will play many different games. Some people will come back to older games and some never do.
There are still people playing commodore 64 games on the commodore 64. I say lucky sob's I wish my commodore 64 was still working so I could play some of the old classics there.
Blizzard made their money on Diablo 3 since it sold extremely well since it is one of the highest selling games on the PC. I do not know how it did on the consoles since I do not have one at the moment. But likely it did extremely well as well.

OP it does sound like you care about the game but at the same time it sounds like you need a break from the game.
If you are not having fun playing the game then do something else that gives you enjoyment and come back at some other point.
I only play the game when I am in the mood to play and that is usually only for a few hours in month and I honestly do not care that much about rifts or Greater rifts or seasons.

Do you have the entire amount of players playing the game for the day, for the week, for the month. Not everyone plays the game everyday especially for a game that is over 2 years old.

Diablo 3 is about killing and looting and looting and killing. A level up to pick a skill or change the skill. Some more killing and looting and then more level ups and skill placements. More killing and looting and level ups until max character level. more killing and looting and then placing points into paragon level ups. Again looting and killing.
The only thing changes is the type of loot you get, the monsters to kill and the area you kill the bad guys.
And for the most part ARPG's follow the motto Killing and looting and loot to kill.

I really do not have any high end gear on any character and can not play anything higher than torment 2 solo but I am having a blast of time using with my melee blazing fire hydra build (I hate Mammoth Hydra). Likely will go with cold melee wizard when I have cold gear. I also use no mobility skills.
Sadly I can usually only stand a few hours in a month to play DIII and I do not like doing efficient runs or anything. I just go out play what ever fancies me and have fun.

The best thing to do is not to play it to think you will win or be competitive in it. Just play it if you are having fun playing seasons.

Now if I can only make a melee Witch Doctor then I would be happy. I missed my old Melee Pet Witch Doctor. Yes I used Normal Attack on the RMB. But I only played solo when going with Melee.

I would still look more into the issue and possibly see about banning players either for a temp ban and possibly a perm ban if it is a repeat offender.
