It's possible to Javascript the whole thing up, and it's definitely a possibility for the future considering all the information already entered can be parsed and edited as is quite easily. It is, though, something I am not quite ready to struggle with the wiki with, as it contains a lot of restrictions on allowed tags (<script> one of them, although I'm only 99% sure it restricts them).
It is still a big possibility in the future. If anyone wants to take a stab at it, it is a freely editable wiki and I challenge anyone to try their hand at it :).

Apr 23, 2010Huck posted a message on Balancing IssuesI'm not sure how much of an effect the elimination of skill trees will actually have. Since skills still have a level requirement, it's essentially forcing you to pick lower tiered skills, lest you suck at lower levels. In which case, some early skills may become useless when later skills are available and learned.Posted in: News
Both the current D2 system and the proposed system are almost exactly alike, with the exception that you don't have to learn prerequisite skills (which saves like, what, a few points total). I wouldn't be too assured that these changes are really all that dramatic.
I just hope there is a greater variety of equally potent builds. -

For some reason I simply cannot recall DI shrines. Did they have multiple effects? Is that what you mean? And sometimes some of them were adverse?
A lot of Shrines in Diablo 1 permanently decreased stats by 1-3 points. -

Mar 1, 2010Huck posted a message on Diablo III, Featuring BoEPosted in: NewsQuote from "Credge" »This. Remove dupes, the economy is fine. Items naturally lose value as more of them exist.
There's a reason SoJ's are the currency of choice in Diablo 2 :|.
Removing duping from the game wouldn't solve the economy by itself (although it'd help a lot). Without BoE, unique and set items would simply be hoarded and would eventually lose all value as the game is played longer by more people.
If you find a great item, you must decide whether to keep it or trade it (just like any BoE in WoW). You can't just slap it on knowing you'll be able to pawn it off to the next newbie when you find something better. The destruction of items for gold is the only way to lower the amount of those items in circulation, thus keeping the economy relatively balanced.
You may not like it, but it's a good decision by Blizzard and they have way more experience with in-game economies than anyone here could possibly begin to lie about. -
Mar 1, 2010Huck posted a message on Diablo III, Featuring BoEBlizzard has yet to make a single bad game. They will not screw up Diablo 3. BoE is an obvious method of encouraging players to simply play the game more, as well as managing the economy.Posted in: News

you'll get an idea of how many passive and active abilities there are.
Second, runes change the way spells behave. So, for instance, you could (potentially) have a rune that freezes all enemies when they're hit by Whirlwind. Or maybe sets them on fire. Or maybe it lasts a little longer. Or it knocks enemies back. Or it leaches health. Or the cooldown is reduced. Or it confuses enemies.
Third, the game isn't anywhere near to being finalized, so the sheer amount of changes being made every day invalidates the argument altogether.
But now you'll respond with a pedantic and trivial claim that the game, in some mystical form or shape, has simply displeased you. And I am OK with that, but just as long as you stop using crappy reasoning, like you've been using for the past 5 pages.

The possibility of a class coming back from Diablo 1 still exists. My bets are on Rogue, or some redux of the rogue in a hunter/ranger type deal.

Two things game companies can agree on:
1) Do the first stage last, where you can "bring it."
2) Do the last stage last, where you can "bring it."
It isn't Belial. It's Diablo. This is clearly evident and your logic is taking weird paths.

The difficulty is pretty spot on in Diablo 2, I feel. If the economy is fixed and not everyone has uber phat lewt from the get go, I imagine Hell would be pretty challenging for even experienced parties. I am sure they've made extra challenging events with Achievements for those who will ultimately surpass all previous challenges, kind of like how World of Warcraft instances always have extra hard achievements.
