posted a message on Skill Points Removal Fuels Game Controversy

From my vantage point, I'm not too fond of this approach. I feel that the original plan worked fine. I felt that the skill restriction of having only 7 skills was enough to make the player choose which of those skills to level hard. For example, if I was given 60 points to allot to 7 different skills, I'd put 40 of those points into 2 skills and the other 20 I'd find a way to fit them in so that they make sense. OR I'd find a way to allot all 60 points into 3 skills. That would be a part of the customization, which is what Diablo is supposed to be all about.

I'll have to play the game to find out if I like the system, but as it stands from my point of view, it doesn't feel like you can actually create a bad build - which I think bad.

Why ? Why is it bad, not being able to create a bad build?

I simply cannot understand this argument.I simply cannot. Is it fun for you, failing everytime with a build? Is it fun for you having to restart and rewind everything, all the time, because you choose poorly, and because the design system is flawed?

Most people will probaly agree that this isn't a whole lot of fun. Part of what made Diablo 2 bad, was exactly the way, that bads builds were really bad, and that locking yourself into this, made the game even more skewed in a weird way.

You said u wanted to make all skill points into 3 skills, yet you had to choose from 7? That doesn't make any sense to me. Having only 3 skills out of 25 or whatever, is a bad system design.

6 skills is a perfect nr cos blizzard have internal information about skills that you don't.
Because it feels awesome to finally make a good, viable build when you've failed a few times. It's rewarding.

posted a message on How do you feel about respawning inside pvp games..

Hey, don't get me wrong.. I'm not saying "Screw the other mode". I wouldn't mind if it were there because I'd play it myself. But my standing ground is that, well.. "It is what it is". I'm happy that D3 is coming out, period. Wherever they take it in any aspect of game-play, it still seems like it will be a GREAT game. There's no point in crying over spilled milk like most of you are doing. Instead be happy with wtf you're getting instead of sounding like a bunch of little whiny bitches. I mean if they add the other mode as an option, hey GREAT, that's cool. But if they don't get the fuck over it.

Also, who are you to say Jay Wilson is wrong? I'm sure his track record with creating successful games is MUCH better than yours, assuming yours even exists.

And uhh, if you're going to play D3 either way, why are you complaining about it?

You guys all sound like a bunch of girls. Seriously.

So doesn't mean our suggestions would make the game better

your logic is so fucking bad

So because Jay Wilson is a dev ALL HIS IDEAS will be better than the rest of the world's

Yeah it will be a good game but why not make it better retard?
Ahem. Don't mean to interrupt, but Jay Wilson is not a developer. He's the lead game designer. He mostly calls the shots.

posted a message on Did You Notice...
I was looking through the AH pictures and I noticed a couple of things in one picture:

    1. There's a filter by Lifesteal.
    2. There's a filter by "Life On Hit". What's that?
    3. Most interestingly, there's a filter by "Unique Item". Did they decide to bring that term back?

posted a message on Nightmare, Hell, etc.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.

I think a good amount of people believe d3 will be very easy. And I can't blame them for thinking it. The only footage we've seen is of demos that don't really represent how the game will turn out at all. In the demos, it seems like every class has basically infinite resources and not a big problem with dying - more like what to expect in act 1 and act 2 normal difficulty (which I think exactly what it is). But my point is, the content that's been shown affects how people feel about the game.

posted a message on Complete Diablo Lore Book incoming.
The book that article is referring to is the Book of Cain, which has for quite some time been a very confusing book in terms of what is actually in it.

Nobody knows what the book will actually contain because of these numerous conflicting reports. For example, Kotaku says "Metzen said that the company's upcoming Diablo book will focus on the events that occur between Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and Diablo III." which is not the entire franchise as that article suggests.

Another example (link to Sixen's article) would be off of Amazon:
In Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo® and Diablo II, the recurring character of Deckard Cain delivered quests, accompanied the brave adventurer, and, as the last of the Horadrim, provided a link to the greater history of the world of Sanctuary. Ever mysterious during these appearances, Cain hinted at a larger story, providing snippets of it in his notebook. Diablo III: Book of Cain is Cain’s formal record of this greater tale—a dissertation on the lore of the Diablo universe, told by one who has witnessed and participated in some of the epic events that make up the eternal conflict between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells.

Designed as an “in-world” artifact from the Diablo universe, Diablo III: Book of Cain includes Cain’s revealing meditations, as well as dozens of sketches and color artworks depicting the angelic and demonic beings who wage constant war with one another.

For players of the eagerly anticipated Diablo III, this mysterious tome will provide a deeper understanding of the franchise and its storyline.

    Confusing, if you ask me.

posted a message on D3 = geared in 1/4 the time
Nevermind, Bash simply made a mistake.

    Official Blizzard Quote:

@cherubdown Sorry that was an incorrect answer. Drops don't change while playing in a group vs. alone.
He went on to clarify it here:

    Official Blizzard Quote:

I've gotten this same question wrong in the past, I don't know why it continues to confuse me. Drops are not different in co-op. The fact that you're killing faster (which you will) in a group means more items in less amount of time, means we don't need to provide other incentives. Your own drop modifiers will affect your personal drops, such as magic and gold find. But that's the same while playing alone or in a group.
So there you have it. Neither drop percentages change NOR do drop rates, ever. This is very much unlike Diablo 2 where drop amounts would increase as party increases.

I like it. It's very simple and straight forward. We won't be wondering now if we're getting the most bang for our time spent. If you want to get better lootz, you'll just have to get better Magic Find.

posted a message on Quite a few new members.
One of the main reasons I like Diablofans is because I know that a lot of you guys have been here for a very, very long time, patiently waiting for D3. And I hope you continue to stick around long after the game(s) are done! I want to be able to come back here in 10 years to talk about diablo 3! Kudos to you all!
