    Hardcore most definitly.

I will start with softcore experimenting with builds until I find the build that is best suitable for soloing and farming some gear. Then move to Hardcore and spank the duel scene! Hope to see you all there!

I played hardcore on US West prior to the introduction of ladder, and when ladder was introduced I avoided it, under the usernames KiD_Benji and Benji. (I am unsure of patch numbers and exact dates). My play mostly consisted of dueling or rushing/baaling new characters to experiment with builds so that I could duel. I collected many ears with a Zerk Baba, a BnP Necro, an Ele Druid and a Fireclaw Druid all above level 90. As well as multiple low level duelers, a level 9, 18 assassin and numerous different builds with paladins, and mid level dueler, a level 50 fc druid. Although I did PvE quite a bit, I had a character reach 99 and a couple get to 96+. I am not trying to show off or build some virtual ego, just build some credibility on the subject matter. Granted I have not read everything that Blizzard has said about Diablo III PvP yet, but looking over a few other topics has raised many questions and concerns for me.

    1) 1 on 1 - Diablo II hardcore duels were rarely team/clan duels. 99% of the time it was about you vs. the enemy and 90% of that time was spent convincing the "would-be opponent" that dueling was a good idea. The youtube arena video that was released shows a 2 vs. 2 duel, this idea is ridiculous, no matter how strong your teammate may be risking your character with uncontrollable variables his a horrific thought.

    2) Risk-Reward - Risking your character so people you don't know nor care about can view your rank on a ladder? Pardon my language but that is crap... I would be extremely upset if they integrated the honor/arena point system used in WOW, I guarantee that people will find a way to abuse it and farm epic items. Only possible option would be that characters are automatically unlocked, meaning even if the opponent leaves after death you would still be able to loot all items you want.

    3) A ladder ranking system - If a ladder ranking system is implemented then how would it work? Would you be randomly assigned your opponent or would you be paired with someone that you are closely ranked to? Random matchmaking would make hardcore pvp a complete gamble, which in turn would extinguish a large percent of possible duelers, bringing us back to pre map-hack days and spending countless hours looking for someone to duel. Pairing you against an opponent that you are closely ranked to would be the only viable option, bringing me to my next topic.

    4) Overpower Characters - There is no dominating class/build that can conquer all, at least I would hope, that is the reason that people play different class/builds. What happens if your character build is matched up against a class/build that has an innate advantage over you, using Diablo II PvP as an example - A descent Sorc > Any char without an enigma, the sorc may not have any KO power but in an arena with no option of leaving or exiting all they would have to do is kite, hit, kite, hit rinse and repeat until game over..especially with the lack of health or rejuvenation potions? I highly doubt someone would risk their character to this just to gain a couple spots on the ladder..

    5) Health/Rejuvenation/Mana Potions - Accidents happen, you didn't move fast enough and the meteor landed on you or the blessed hammer caught you off guard. Potions are a huge importance when it comes to PvP, I am hoping that they leave potions in the arena, or at least hardcore arena. If everyone gets to use potions then no one gains an advantage over anyone. What happens if you drain your mana pool, just sit there and watch your character get beat on? Attempt to fight back with a staff?

    6) Viable builds - Certain builds that are excellent for PvE might be horrible for PvP, a summoning necro for example. Whereas certain builds for PvP might be horrible for PvE, a zerk baba for example. How will we find this out?

    7) Practice - I remember dueling with friends, loading your belt with full rejuvs and going at it, not only to prove whose character is more "bad-ass" but to practice for when it actually mattered. Would this option be non-existent? The skill level of monsters (artificial intelligence) doesn't compare to that of a human..is spending the time to level and collect items in softcore to build a duplicate character so we can practice dueling really what Blizzard expects of us or do they just want us to spend countless hours with trial and error?

    8) Maps - Are they going to have different arena maps? In softcore I would assume one arena map would get boringast, but for hardcore players it wouldn't be fair to switch arena maps if death has an actual consequence.

    Please post your thoughts.

    Note:
I am simply voicing my concerns so please refrain from trolling or flaming.

    Thank you,

I voted: Dead = Dead; How it should be, although I believe another choice should be offered. Ranked - Dead = Dead, Fun - Dead = Had a good time try again.
