bummer they are removing that stuff. The Reddit thread makes it sound like they saw a cash-grab opportunity and management probably decided to monetize it. With nothing new beyond some balance changes, is there any "new" content in 2.4.1 besides balance changes now?

13+ hours a day? Jesus, get a life already. Or a job. Go see what the sun looks like. Go get laid. Move out of moms basement. What a waste of a life.
*edit*
I should add that having no life is the only legit option for these players. The other thing they could be doing is account sharing or running bots, both of which are against the ToS, and they should be perma-banned if thats the case.

Feb 24, 2014falcompsx posted a message on Reaper of Souls Closed Beta and Patch 2.0.1 PTR Draw to a CloseOn one hand it seems a little odd that 2.0.1 would be released before the AH is shut down. On the other, based on the PTR, 2.0.1 does have a button for the AH in the interface, so Blizzard must be expecting to release 2.0.1 while the AH is still live. Perhaps they are releasing 2.0.1 well in advance of the AH being shutdown to allow open auctions to finish up while people find new and account bound loot so it tapers off before being shutdown? I'm doubtful of a release tomorrow, but march 4th would be great!(my b-day gift from blizz :-D )Posted in: News

Sep 17, 2013falcompsx posted a message on Diablo III Auction House is Shutting Down on March 18, 2014This is excellent news. Though in all honesty, Loot 2.0 kind of makes this news meaningless to me.Posted in: News
The whole problem for me was that the AH was the tool you used to get the gear needed to play the game. Progression was just saving up gold(or buying it with money if you were so inclined) to buy enough gear so you could play on a tougher MP level.
Now you can play the game, get drops that let you player on higher MP levels, and get more loot faster, so you can play even higher levels. All self sustained.
What made the AH evil was its necessitiy to be successful in the game. The whole pay-to-win model that it imposed.
Good riddance I say. -

May 30, 2013falcompsx posted a message on No ETA for "Ask the Devs" Round 3, Easy Way to Unlock All Cinematics, Community Commentary:Pics or It Didn't Happen, More Co-opI know what I would want to ask about itemization, and that is how they plan to deal with the issue of the only "good" items being trifecta, or its garbage. IMO the root of the problem is CC and CD and how they scale exponentially. no other stats have a chance of being anywhere near as good as stacking those two. When every other stat scales linearly, they can't possibly be anywhere near as good, and if they buffed attack speed, or something else to be just as good as CC when you have high CD, then attack speed would be mandatory on items for them not to be crap. I'm expecting they will have to do some sort of buff to IAS(possibly), and implement DR on CC and CD.Posted in: News
What I'd like to see, is getting CC and CD under control so they aren't they only viable way to increase damage meaningfully, and most importantly, add some new affixes that are equally powerful. Something along the lines of...
% damage increase to crowd controlled targets(or break it down to burning / bleeding / poisoned / frozen / etc...individual increases could have higher numbers than the blanket all CC targets affix to balance it some and add some variety)
% duration increase to crowd control abilities(this would have synergy with the previous afix. allowing for a different sort of "trifecta" option for drops.
% IAS for X seconds after a critical hit
% increase to short-term buff durations
finally if they added some rules to loot, to make certain afixes mutually exclusive to help promote variety.
Trifecta items certainly work in the game right now as a way to scale damage, but as the only viable option, it makes gearing quite boring. -

I like how this exploit, "can negatively impact the enjoyment of others". How does me leveling faster or someone else getting to paragon 100 ruin others enjoyment?
Simple, some people are so concerned with their epeen, that if someone else gets to p100 before them they get all bent out of shape. Although most of us, myself included, dont care one way or the other what level others are. -

I've seen one gift drop. Ever. Drop rate is horrendous. I just assume I'll never see it and if I do it's a nice bonus, but I don't expect to see them in seasons. I don't play a ton hut I put in more than what I'd consider enough to have a shot at getting a couple. Each season I get to around p400.

Somenof you guys are just insane. Do you not see how much content is being added with every patch? Would you rather 2.3 and 2.4 not exist, rolled up that into an expansion and paid for it? Seriously the amount of new features in 2.3 and 2.4 combined could easily have been a paid expansion, it's just missing the story updates and I have a feeling some new story will be coming in 2.5 as they mentioned they are experiment with story telling in adventure mode. All this has been free. If it was an expansion the complaints would be that they are greedy, they give it away free and it's suddenly they are just lazy and the game is dead?

I was hopeful for an expansion at blizzcon on but after seeing the schedule, it's just not going to happen. There's only one d3 Dev panel and no room for an unlisted announcement anywhere.

I have an idea that could make ancient weapons and more fun at the same time while also increasing replayability.
First off, ancient weapons should be removed and reverted back to all being normal. I'm not calling for an all out nerf though, or QQ about how i'm not getting any or the one i want. I'm suggesting a new system for them as opposed to being pure RNG like they are now.
Create a new item, we'll call it "ancient rune" for now for lack of a better name. This rune would be a rare drop, in the same way as ramalandi's gift, possibly even more rare. It could be used on any piece of gear to make the item ancient, but not just straight up ancient. What would happen is you would insert a rune into the rift obelisk and it would then let you insert a weapon as well to try to make it ancient. You would then be ported into a greater rift. They would essentially work the same as they do now, but instead of upgrading a gem at the end, you would have the option to upgrade your weapon, or continue on to the next tier. The option to upgrade your gear would only be given if you successfully clear the rift within the timer and stats would be increased by 0.5% per level completed. Rift level 50 would give a 25% boost to stats on your weapon. The boosted stats would be the same as current ancient gear in that not all stats would be boosted, only the same ones that are boosted now. the 0.5% per level is also just an example. I'd expect it to be tuned somewhere so that around tier 38ish, maybe 42(because 42) would give stats equal to current ancient weapons, the farther you go, the better your weapon could get. The boost per tier completed would have to be low enough that each boost alone isnt enough to let you clear one tier farther as well, but i think fair tuning could be achieved. It would fit in Blizzards current philosophy of rewarding individual accomplishments as well as giving end game something else to grind towards. You could practice how far you think you can get in a standard grift, then when you're ready to roll the dice, use your item and give it a shot.

its RNG. just have to keep trying. Eventually you'll get one. Or you won't. Such is the fate bestowed upon you by the RNG gods.

if they are going to redeem anyone, it should be Cain. Leah was annoying

I would be perfectly ok with them making all the new "seasonal" items available in all game modes at the start of a season. Seasons for me are fun because its a fresh start. They're fun because there are new items and reworked items to get. I have zero desire for the game to lock people out of these new items just because they dont want to reroll a character and go through that grind again. Some people don't enjoy doing that and I get it. People shouldn't be punished for not wanting to do seasons. The fresh start of a season should be incentive enough to play seasons. The new items and patch changes should apply to the whole game to be a reason for everyone to be excited for a new patch and season start. Don't want to reroll? there's still all this cool new stuff to play with. Want to reroll? start a seasonal character and have at it.

honestly i think the problem is the gift itself. Its so powerful that its required. and spending it when you get a decent, but not great weapon feels bad if you end up getting a better weapon moments later which is bound to happen after you "waste" your gift. or if you get a good weapon but don't have a gift that rolls a natural socket, you feel obligated to not roll the worst stat to something better because then you're stuck with the socket and can't use a gift on it later. There are too many situations where the gift ends up feeling like a punishment vs a reward.
One solution, make the gift something you can gamble for with bloodshards. Have a 'trinket' option for 25 blood shards that can give you a random gem as a basic reward, or a chance a a legendary non player gear item, like a follower trinket, or legendary potion, or gift.
another solution would be to change what the gift does. Rather than adding a socket, how about adding another primary affix?(same end result) They could be made a bit more common, and you could use multiple gifts on the same weapon similar to how enchanting works, but each use would erase the old affix added with the gift.

I agree with shapookya, but something like this could still be fun if implemented properly. Make it non-competitive(no leaderboards) so its just for fun. And implement something like a 30 minute timer on each level. Fail to clear a level in that time and the next level is no longer available. Or possibly a pulsing aoe in the whole map(unavoidable) that would eventually one-shot you after it stays up long enough. There are ways to prevent endless kiting.

i'd be against that completely. Seasonal items make season characters fun and worthwhile to create.
