posted a message on Inferno to include new items and a whole tier of armor each act
I like that a lot. The fact that they say inferno is supposed to be insanely hard sort of had me worried that there wouldn't be much unique to it except obviously higher quality "versions" of the same armor we were finding earlier, which kind of sucks.

The fact we get 4 full new sets is pretty cool.

posted a message on Item Mods - Bash's Quote
    Quote from snowhammer

    Hey Guys,

With release approaching at what feels like a crawl - one of the main topics on my mind is items. I thought maybe some folks might have missed this quote, which was burried about a week ago inside Bashioks 15 reply rant on Customization. This quote, basically set all my fears at rest as far as items go. I know it had already "mostly" been confirmed that there would be item mods on items - but to hear it said so specifically really made me happy.

    Official Blizzard Quote:

In addition, we find that gear as well as just play experience will influence someone's build as they go. Someone might pick up an item with a +skill mod, and decide to swap around their build to benefit from the item. If they enjoy it they'll start building out a set that really feeds that new build. In addition to the Nephalem Valor buff which penalizes changing builds mid-game, there's a large amount of item and skill investment in perfecting a build that lends itself to sticking with it.

What do you think? If you find a super awesome item at level 50 that buffs a skill you aren't currently using do you think you would switch to it?

Of course, this standard procedure for many people in games. It's not always my favorite choice but there have been many times in games where I got killer weapon and chose to change my play style to take advantage of that.

On the flip side, there have been times I refused this too...

    Quote from Ginobli

People will try to guess and say all of the things that Diablo III will do wrong and will ruin it.

Then after that people will start to play and everyth.................

Wait what was I upset about?

When Diablo 2 came out, I remember seeing on various forums, people bashing it. They were actually saying it was too spread out and "bright" lol.

Then they fell in love with it and stfu.

Same thing will happen with Diablo 3.

posted a message on Has D3 lost their true diablo fans?
    Quote from Cowcaine

Or maybe they stay off these forums. I may be wrong but after being on this site for a couple of years and playing the beta since January, it feels like there are ALOT of WOW ans SC2 players and new diablo players buzzing around d3, in-game and out. There's nothing wrong with that but most of the complaints about D3 come from them. I keep seeing questions and topics being made and thinking to myself "Really? Have they even played D2?". I remember back in the day when people were drooling over just to get a Bonesnap Maul for their barb and when Magic Arrow was a nuclear bomb. has Diablo lost fans?

And who is a "real Diablo fan"? Sounds like a retarded concept to me.

Anybody who wants to play is a fan of Diablo. If there are a bunch of idiots out there that stopped following Diablo 3 because they perceive it to be a WoW cloan, good riddance. It means less dumb people for me to play with overall.

And for the record, I've played Diablo on and off since the original Diablo 1 beta (yes I was in it) and don't consider myself any better than anybody who picked it up from a WoW Annual Pass for the first time. I mean who cares.

posted a message on So i heard that Inferno was gona be hard...
    Quote from Benegesserit

Well the testers they showed in their inferno is hard video were just graphic designers who obviously don't have the time hardcore gamers do and I doubt they're even a fraction as good as some of the best D2 players...hopefully 2x difficulty will cover the gap...all we have to do is pray that they are made of diamonds and won't crack to pressure from people who can't get past act 1 after the first two weeks (I hope it's that hard anyway)

The testers jay was referring to are actually internal testers, not just janitors or developers.

posted a message on Out of game plan and in game plan?
I work until 8:30pm Monday night. My plan is to come home, eat, shit, get my desk ready and go to bed then wake up at 7am for three days of marathon gaming sessions.

I might go to the midnight release and pick up my collectors edition though, or I might just play on my annual pass version. That is the only thing up in the air for me.

posted a message on Legendary/Set Items
    Quote from snared04drummer

In the past, though not recently, they said they wanted sets to be more of an end-game thing than they were in Diablo II, that's all I remember them saying specifically in regards to that. On the official game guide, however, the only ones currently there are pretty low level stuff. As to the rest of your questions, we won't really know until they release specifics on them, which won't be until post-launch.

Smart move on there part. Low level sets were always stupid.

    Quote from Mithan

In my view, the people bitching about Diablo 2 stat and skill points being removed are to be ignored. Most games have gone this route actually and until some renesaince in gaming "hardcorism" returns, this is what to expect.

    Good riddance.
First of all no one is bitching about it, in fact the majority of discussion has been non inflammatory.
Secondly, just because it is a direction everyone else is moving in does not mean that it is for the best nor that Blizzard has to do it either.

I still have yet to read a single post or constructed argument against having an elective mode for stat allocation in D3. The uselessness of stats from d2 has been addressed in this game so that is a non issue.

All stats are useful so why can't I just pick what I want? I know there will be stats on items and grear but why does it have to be mutually exclusive?

I'm not whining or QQing and I will buy the game and, I'm sure, love it the way it is, I just would like to have manual attribute distribution.

This thread isn't "bitching about it" but when you to the Main Boards, that is all you hear. It is so bad that I barely post there anymore because of it.

posted a message on Best Diablo 3 Class
    Quote from navixx

I just wanted to see what everyones' thoughts are on which class will be the best class at release. A short reason explaining why you think so should suffice.

I believe the sorceress will be the best class overall. Just as in Diablo 2, the sorceress teleported everywhere and shot out frost balls of death. Looking at the talent builder i'm sure that this will be the case in Diablo 3. This sucks for me as I dislike playing caster classes in Diablo games.

Your thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

I don't think there will really be any "best" classes, just best classes to suit your style.

I love Melee classes. In fact, I have NEVER played anything but in any game over the last 20 years.

I tried playing a Healer once in WoW but after I died about 90 times from trying to whack on people with my staves, I realized Magic just isn't for me.

posted a message on Playing from 00:01 or... just taking it easy?
I have zero plans to play that night because I would rather go to bed, get a good nights sleep and then wake up at 7am and go for a marathon 14-18 hour session.

The only hiccup to my plan of being in bed by 10PM is the fact that I am still on the fence about getting the collectors edition. See, I already have the Annual Pass Diablo 3, so I would basically be paying $100 to get... Angel Wings. Yay.

posted a message on Anyone out there with a background in economics?
Quote from Jack in the box

Am I the only one that thinks there are too many variables and not enough late-game information to make accurate predictions at this point? We can only speculate about the value of gold because we do not know how late-game gold drops will work. Not all the items have been set yet. Blizzard can also "tweak" the economy by changing or adding items via patches.

I agree with you actually. Developers have said many times the one thing they need more of in later levels is gold.

As well as virtual value goes, if a lot of people play and get addicted to their characters, you could see thousands of people willing to buy items. We don't known yet as this has never been attempted on a AAA game from a AAA developer that is doing this legit.

In short, could be huge or could be meh.

Also, item values will vary with supply and demand. It will probably take a month before enough demanders get to level 60 for example, so items won't sell much before that. Likewise as I said above, is this going to be a game where a vast amount play to high levels or will most quit after they finish it on normal? Blizzard appears to really be pushing this as a game where you play to end game (unlike d3 where most quit after normal) and if they are successful that will offer a huge potential market....

posted a message on Is it worth it to pick up White items?
    Quote from burninfate

I have watched many streams that leave grey and white items on the floor, are they of any use? If this is in the wrong section i am sorry, i did not know where to put it.

What I usually do is pick up white items at the start or until my inventory fills, then dump stuff. When I go to town, I want to maximize my returns.

posted a message on Am I the only one peeved about Magic Find socialism?
    Quote from tanis0

No, I like it. Without sharing MF, you'd have people show up loaded in so much junk MF gear that they couldn't kill anything and just rely on the group to get them drops. At least this way if someone does that, you get the benefit of their MF to compensate for their lack of killing ability.

    This.

Blizzard took the best of all the negatives they had to deal with, and made the best decision possible.

You hit the nail on the head.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Customization sucks?
    Quote from Dawn

Okay I haven't played Beta so I'm not 100% on any of this, it's just what I've read off the internet. But here's just some stuff I've noticed. In Diablo 3, you can't add attributes (strength, vitality, intelligence etc). The attributes just get added automatically, correct? And with skills, you can't level skills up (like level 20 skeletons in D2). You can only get the skill once, and then add runes if you want to make it stronger. After realizing all this, I realized that there is hardly ANY customization in D3 at all. It's really limited. Someone said on another website that at level 13, practically everyone's wizards are exactly the same. Attributes the same, skills the same (because you can now just re-choose and swap skills whenever you want). The only way to customize your character is through items and runes. Doesn't all this kind of suck? I mean it makes the game way more boring. I'd really love to make a Melee Wizard or something, but if we can't control the attributes, it makes it much harder to have unique heroe builds.

What do you guys think? If I've got some stuff wrong, please explain how it all works (and how customization is in fact very good, if that's the case?)

In my view, the people bitching about Diablo 2 stat and skill points being removed are to be ignored. Most games have gone this route actually and until some renesaince in gaming "hardcorism" returns, this is what to expect.

    Good riddance.
