Went home for lunch...my gloves are gone. Out of demonic essences to make more gloves. 9.5 million to replace leaves me...annoyed.
if it's any consolation, same thing happened to me some time except that but my gloves were like 200m. :/ luckily I was able to snipe similar ones for much less. anyways, conclusion: ALWAYS check your DPS (or any other stat) before leaving a game
Anyways, thanks for the quick response guys. I guess there's no consistent in-game quick test except to play with people for a while and judge how quickly shit's dying.

Yea I know this isn't the best method of judging whether I should play with people or not. I do use d3up for myself and my friends. For me it's more of a public game when I join a 4 player game and I see that all 3 of the other guys have much lower dps than me I know to just leave the game, where loading their profiles on d3up is just not worth the time and effort versus a quick "view profile" in game.
Just a quick question about my in game profile damage displayed. Some times when I look at it I see 356k dps, other times 247k, and then like 316k after. I don't swap anything, and I check after my run in the main screen so that I don't have different buffs on each time. My online profile damage shows it at 329k always (and I know that one incorporates buffs in one way or another).
The reason I ask is that a lot of the runs I do with other people I compare their profile damage to mine to see if they're within 70% of me to make it worth playing with them (efficiency wise) to counter to mob hp boost.
I really do appreciate the effort put into making a new system and wanting to better the game, but there are some ideas that are just not practical. Diablo is not a PvP game, and therefore forcing players into it to acquire the best gear, or an advantage over non-pvp players is not possible. D3`s current brawling is a joke, and we all know that because it`s absolutely boring. The `future` arena system where rewards will be just aesthetics and possibly something like a title or rank is fine, but to make it a core part of the game goes against what people played the Diablo series for.
However, I think having a type of minigame with PvP might be fun. Instead of the Scorched Chapel have one of the existing areas (which is blocked off) be spawned and have this whole hunter and prey game, just no rewards outside aesthetics or fun nostalgic junk to keep in your stash.
