overrider posted a message on New Class for D3?Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionHi there.
I don't know where you got your information but the D3 is in the hands of the classic games team for a long while . The second expansion was canceled and bits of it were released for free in patches while the new class, necromancer was released as paid dlc.
There is no new xpac announced for d3, nor any future support aside from tech support, new infinity power creep 100000000% item changes and some new sets that will in no way make me reinstall d3 again.

Pimpadin posted a message on #notmyrunewords?Posted in: Diablo IV: Return to DarknessI got excited when they announced rune words were making a comeback, but then saw how they actually functioned and it was just a big MEH. Hopefully this was just thrown together for the demo at Blizzcon and will get an extensive passover and rework before launch.

Runewords should go more in D2 direction.
Runewords should span across legendary and ancient legendary in power scale. Low easy runewords for mid-game is great aswell, like for exemple a stealth or ral ort tal shield i believe it was. Spirit was a bit too powerful in regards to which runes it needed.
2. Very important. As u said. It makes white and eth items and sockets interesting. Not just salvage or crap u dont pickup. Runewords was great although some were too overpowered. So runewords should be similar to legendaries its just a different and enjoyable Journey and crafting experience..
And finally, dont give us the exakt list. Let the players find small Clues to try and figure out what runewords exist. Will make launch more interesting

Mob Dylan posted a message on Ooops...microtransactions in D4 on top of expansions.Posted in: Diablo IV: Return to DarknessGaming is moving to a "service" platform. This will be the new standard, even indie developers are adopting this model. It's not inherently bad, just that certain companies take it to the extreme and that has left a bad taste in many peoples mouths. I actually don't want the expansion model because that means very long periods of no new content, then a massive dump of it, followed by another drought. Microtransactions allow for constant updates that keep a game fresh; POE, Fortnite, etc.
Just look at how D3 was handled. They basically spent years "fixing" the game and when they felt it was in a good place it was essentially abandoned. Why? because they had no reoccurring revenue stream to justify dropping substantial content updates. The biggest thing we got was the Necro. Remember that game developers get paid on average $100k a year and there are often dozens or so maintaining a game. Just imagine the cost. It's not a smart or a sustaining business model to put millions in a game that generates no money for you.
I do think that D4 could go FTP and be successful but remember they have to answer to shareholders and they don't want to hear about the long road to profitability. They want sales numbers. Sad but look at what happened to HotS. Hearthstone was a side project, with a tiny team that blew up like the Hindenburg. D4 is massive in comparison; probably end up costing the company 100's of millions to produce and market.
As long as the game you love is being supported does it matter that they have cosmetic items for sale? Not to me.

Skelos_bg posted a message on Diablo IV InterviewsPosted in: Diablo IV: Return to DarknessYes, this is achieved through superb procedural randomization of tiles/zones/areas, not by static bounties.
Static bounties are good for new players to the game - say, those below level 20, because they force them to go to a predefined path, namely where the bounty objective is. And for the new player is good to be forced to do things, because he himself doesn't know WTH he is doing at all. But the rest of the players DO know.
Why force experienced players into bounties? We know D3 lacks depth and was full of wrongly designed stuff thus it had a bounty system, but why force such system on us in so enormous and unique world like this of Diablo 4? Why force the player to go to a place X and not let the player find place X himself and do the event happening there NATURALLY (if he chooses to), not FORCED?
Absolutely no reason for such type of game to be forced on experienced players. This is a bad and lazy design.
Diablo is about randomized content, not static content. That is one of the major driving forces for the Diablo player base - the RANDOMIZATION of maps, battles and items dropping. If the developers want to do bounties properly they have to develop an AI to learn from each player preference and offer him bounties he enjoys, not to force on us static missions!

Zalez posted a message on Will we finally get, in Diablo 4, the grittier, darker, baroque experience we’ve been waiting for?Posted in: Diablo IV: Return to DarknessThanks for your feedback. I hear you that destroying multiple enemies (exponentially more as you advance and become more powerful) is fun. I guess my point is more that this shouldn’t be too gratuitous. You shouldn’t be able to use too many powers too often such that the game is just a constant blurry whirl-wind or destructive skills / magic damage. High impact damage should be hard to use, so you’re forced to reserve it for when shit hits the fan and you really need it.

overrider posted a message on #notmyrunewords?Posted in: Diablo IV: Return to DarknessThere is a big visible line at the end of all their posts and blogs about systems. "Everything is subject to change by release" . Nothing and I mean literally no system they showed before d3 released remained . As they are now , those runes seems good but limited. What I'm concerned the most is the fact that there is no belt slot implemented so far in development and the limited number of sockets. True runewords require at least 3 sockets. I want trigger and 5 rune effects.

Aerisot posted a message on Anyone else worried the final 2 classes will suck?Posted in: Diablo IV: Return to DarknessThe leak that was right about everything else so far stated that the 5 classes announced at launch would be Barb, Sorc, Druid, Amazon, and Paladin.
But like every other leak, take it with a grain of salt until it is proven true, they already said they are going to be releasing multiple classes throughout it's release, so they could change their minds on the starting lineup.

NoK posted a message on D4 is just D3 reskinned. Cmon.Posted in: Diablo IV: Return to DarknessMy first impression was similar. This looks about the same just gritty. However, after watching all the streamers and VODs though, it is apparent that this is a demo, and there is still a lot more to do. The announcement might have been a forced thing too. Older Diablo systems were used for the sake of ease in pushing out a demo. David Kim in Rykkers stream said something along the lines as, This is all the content we have done and completed so far. Which is not much. "Not even Blizzard soon" shows that as well. As they continue to worldbuild and balance, there will be many changes. The demo in d3 was much different then the game today. The big difference is how they listen to the community. Now that this is shared with the community there will be a lot more voices chiming into this project.
Remember, D3, the Devs ignored a lot of what we were asking for with little information in between Blizzcons. The system failed us which in turn made a failed game. Blizzard knows this. They are already being a lot more open about this game and expectations I hope that continues after Blizzcon.
My wife enjoys diablo 3, I enjoy diablo 2. I think they want 4 to be the combination of both. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Not sure why people keep saying this about D3. D3 was only “easy mode” if you purposefully made it easy. They allowed you to adjust the difficulty to whatever you wanted from the start. If it felt too easy? Immediately switch to Hell difficulty or higher to make it more challenging. Except this isn’t what most people did. Most people kept it easy or just barley hard enough to find good gear and then slowly ramped up difficulty so it never felt “hard”. But that was their choice.
You’re talking about the game forcing you into it being challenging from the beginning, without choice. Like D2 did. The Problem is Blizzard wants to cater to a larger audience, so they have to make at least an optional “easy mode” for that crowd from the start. If you like the game to be harder, just ramp up the difficulty in settings. *thumbs up*

Well first of all, 2022 is only 3 years away, not 4. It’s the end of 2019... lol. And second, considering blizz specifically said they don’t want it to be like D3’s development, Which was released 4 years after its announcement, only because it had major development issues. Best guess is D4 will go into closed beta sometime in 2021 and if all goes well, be released end of that year.

If you want to post the list here and respond that’s cool, but linking to your YouTube video in a forum for more views is kinda lame dude.

Lol you guys think the mere inclusion of skill “cooldowns” makes diablo like WoW? And instead you want all spells to be spammable and that’s “more fun” than having to strategize around certain ability Cooldowns?
First of all, in D2 you literally only used 2 skills. That’s it. In reality the gameplay of D2 was incredibly boring because of its extreme limitations. The D3 skill system sucked because there were no “skill points”, but the ability to use 5-6 different skills definitely needs to stay in D4.

Blizzard admitted that D3 development got fucked up and delayed 3-4 times after they announced it. So unless D4 has some major issues like D3 did, it wont take 5-7 years, it’ll just be a couple more. But ya I agree it’ll be in either Beta or at the very least Alpha sometime in 2021.

Giving us what we already wanted back in D3 isnt some amazing new concept we should praise them for, it’s literally the bare-minimum of what they should/could do with it. We deserve this game at the very least, which is why I’m still slightly disappointed even though the game looks pretty good.

The gameplay also looks the same from the demo. So they added PVP, cool. They should’ve had PVP in D3 from the beginning. Acting like it’s some cool new concept isn’t a bonus, it’s a slap in the face. ‘open world’ was never a concept Diablo players cared or asked for. The only other thing ‘new’ is riding mounts and auto-climbing walls you click on. (Wow alert). Blizz also said they’re adding a monetization aspect to D4. Which might also kill the gameplay for anyone who doesn’t want to spend real money.
