Yes you can change skills whenever you want, and even thou most skill are supposed to be viable, its guaranteed that some skills will work better togheter than other skills. Knowing this "builds" before hand gives you an advantage over people that try to make them up on the go.

Everybody had same chance to get into beta that chance is equal to the number of beta invites over the number of people asking for it. Your chances increased if you entered some or all of the other 3rd party ramdon contests. Finally some 3rd parties included contests based on some sort of skill or activity done by the contestant (like the screenshots contests of diablofans, the newsletter subcriptions of nvidia.uk or the twitter contest at @blizzard_cs)

Only de Friends and Family beta testers had an "unfair" advantage and got in the beta easily.

What has the world come to. "I'm sorry...can't hear what you're saying. Please stop crying. Did anyone hurt you? Is Lassie dead? Did the rainforest draw its last breath? Wha...feat of..what? Sigil...?"

This thread should go to first-world-problems.com/

    Quote from Findulidas

I dont care and I dont understand how people can create a thread with 11 pages for such an insignificant issue. An achievment which will obviously pale against any cool one like beating inferno or getting 1mil gold or something like that, which obviously took either skill or time, often both.

Atleast put effort in a issue thats actually bad like people not getting the ce they ordered or monks not getting the attacks they should by holding m1 compared to clicking.

Its not even an achievement, is a crappy recognition they decided to call a "feat of strengh"

    Quote from SaracenS

Alright let me articulate why I don't think this is fair. Blizzard has stated in the past feats of strength were something very difficult or something that is impossible to obtain anymore. They have maintained however through actions and wording that everyone has a chance at the feats. But with this beta that has been flipped, not everyone could have a chance for this feat, infact short of black martket buying a CD Key from a fansite there was no way to be guaranteed to get it.

All i had to do to get into beta was to subcribe to a nvidia newsletter. They were giving away invites to the first 400 subscribers.

They also gave away invites throu twitter and anybody could have been checking twitter to get those invites.

SO in my opinion this feta is strengh qualifies for this criteria.

i welcome the concept too, and the character and its armor its awesome. I just don't like the visuals of most of their spells.

    Quote from ScyberDragon

I think this is the confusion.

In D2, you had to theorycraft in order to be successful. You could not beat it trough hell with a broken character.

In D3, you don't have to theorycraft to beat it on hell. But that does not mean you can't to optimize a class or build. They just took away the necessity, not the ability.

    A thousand times this
Well i don't know if you'll beat hell without trying to optimize your build, but you will definetly end normal. Im assuming this from Jay's comments on dificulties on the AtomicPC interview. In any case once you hit nightmare you'll see you need more armor, life, damgae, mobility, cc, etc. and modify your build accordingly.
So in escence theorycrafting have become more empiric. You design a build test it and modify it until it works, Its a little more like "practicecrafting", lol.

    Quote from DGen

I am infinitely amazed by how stupid some people can be. Really. You complain about them "removing the possibility to theorycraft". Really? Try opening up the skill calculator for any class, make a build, do some math and logic to back it up, then make 3 more builds like that. Easily possible. Are they all equally good then? Nope, not at all. I honestly dont understand how you can think theorycrafting is gone.

    I am disappoint.

Edit: Plus, he says "I think the fun is in playing the game", which means it is his OPINION, which he is entitled to have. What can you learn from this? Don't quote out of context, don't read too much into what a guy says in an interview, and for gods sake, think for yourself for once!!!
That is an opinion but i think i need to clarify its not his (or at least not entirely his). Its blizzards opinion. He goes into that interview as blizzard's employee and he cannot say "i like theorycrafting but blizzard said no". What i'm trying to say is that this is more than an opinion, its a game design decision. So this is an opinion which is suppose to be a fact for this game.

posted a message on Attack speed, arcane power and you
    Quote from Tsukishima

OP suggested that for channeled spells, damage is dealt on every attack speed cycle. Eg. A weapon with 1 speed on a 280% channeled spell would deal 280% dmg every 1 second and deduct the AP cost every 1 second.

This would imply having more attack speed increases the average AP cost and does damage in a faster period.

    Spell: Ray of frost
Weapon Speed = 1 (1 attack per second)
AP cost per second = 20
    Damage per second = 280%

Now when we add IAS to increase the attack speed to 2 attacks per second

    Spell: Ray of frost
Weapon Speed = 2 (2 attacks per second)
    AP cost per second = 40 (20 per 0.5s)
    Damage per second = 280% (140% per 0.5s)

You deal damage faster (0.5s ticks vs. 1s ticks) and drain AP faster (20 per 0.5s vs. 1s)

    ===

However for single cast spells like wave of force things look different. Consider the following

Wave of force (200% dmg multiplier)

Fast Weapon: (50 dmg at 2 attacks a second for 100 DPS)
Base Arcane Cost per cast = 15 AP
    Damage per second (from above) = 200% of 50 = 100 VS 200% of 100 = 200 (2 possibilities)

Slow Weapon: (100 dmg at 1 attacks a second for 100 DPS)
Base Arcane Cost per cast = 15 AP
    Damage per second (from above) = 200% of 100 = 200

Here you don't have the option to deal damage faster, there is only 1 hit after all. You don't have the option to drain AP faster, there is also only 1 hit. Unless there is a modifier to the AP drain, resource management does not change for weapon speed on single cast spells. Damage for single cast spells may or may not change depending if they use the final DPS value (which includes IAS) or the base damage value (which doesn't include IAS).

Exactly. The OP raises a valid point, but only regarding AP costs. Faster weapons burn your resources faster. Thats true for all classes.

But thats not a problem, you are supposed to alternate between generators, free skills, signature spells, etc, and expenders

posted a message on 4 weeks until i beat inferno
they've said that the get to the point were internal testing said digiculty was ok and then doubled that number.

They've also said that the beta was easy because its the tutorial part of the game, but it turned up too easy for a tutorial and raised the difficulty.

And no, that doesnt mean the rest of the game suffer from the same game, they [have specifically] said its was a problem about making the tutorial too easy. It could be extraolated that it was a problem with the whole game, but its not a certainty from that argument.

No, but you are missing the fact that we are making the same assumptions :P

I dont see it that way, i'm assuming that what they said about CC in inferno dificulty will be true for inferno bosses, you asume that what they said about CC in inferno wont be true for bosses. their is a very clear difference and even thou we are are both assuming my claim has more evidence than yours; we heard blizzard ppl in an interview where they said that CC will work in inferno but for a shorter duraton than in earlier dificulties.
