Not to mention... the DiabloFans forum basis is SMALL. Not that big of a source of people to pull information from.

Despite being affiliated with the Curse.com network of sites, this site doesn't see anywhere near as much traffic (evident by the fact if you watch the forums overnight, nothing moves, where for example, on mmo-champion.com, it is constantly moving, 24/7).

posted a message on DPS and EHP Spreadsheet
Is it possible that the DPS display matters are differeing because the user's weapon happens to have the matching damage type to the helm/amulet's damage increase (+X-Y Lighting Damage on a Weapon with Storm Crow, or +X-Y Cold Damage on a Weapon with Tal'Rasha's amulet)?

This is just a guess is all. Cause the downside to most all Wizard spells is, they do not carry the damage type through to the spells. The lone exception is Spectral Blades, being the only offensive ability we have that just does % weapon damage. All others convert the damage to a specific type, so they don't carry the elemental damage property over. This is easy to check due to +X-Y Cold Damage on a weapon snaring enemies, and that it will only snare with Spectral Blades and nothing else.

Just an idea as to what would have the calculations off, since it would only apply to the bonus weapon damage, and not ALL the damage done by the weapon + stats... maybe...

posted a message on Tyrael Tattoo(s). Regret?
    Humourous...

Players complain that Diablo 3's storyline is worse than Diablo 2's, and yet the lead dev from Diablo 2 stated in an interview that the storyline for Diablo 3 was alot better and more fleshed out, compared to the poor story they tacked onto Diablo 2. The same person everyone says would have made such a better Diablo 3 admits that Diablo 3 is better than what they made in Diablo 2.

Guess people just look for reason to hate on anything that doesn't hold their attention for more than 6hrs of enjoyable entertainment.

To address Tyrael's "fall" to mortality... I'll pull a term from the movie Dogma... he transubstantiated. Removal of an angel's wings turns them mortal. Demons can't do it though. I know it's foolish to bring one form of fiction in with another here, but at least it's a SOMEWHAT relevant comparison.

First comment , useless kid, second comment, doesn't read that I said set / legendaries only

    -___-'

Hmm, did I say 'rare' items only, remember they are working out the legendary buff right now.

Oh, so we should remember that legendaries will be buffed in a yet unknown way before telling you which of them will be most sought after? Right, because that makes total sense. Perfectly rolled rares are the most expensive. That's your answer, regardless of whether or not you like it.

    This is pretty much right.

For now, barring the odd Legendary ring or shield, Rares are the profit margin. Cause when the Legendary buff patch hits (still slated as v1.1), every current Legendary and Set item becomes washed up, since the change is NOT retroactive, and will only apply to new drops/crafts of Legendary/Set items.

The Templar will never do DPS worth noting.

The Scoundrel and Enchantress can both lay some significant pain down.

If you are playing a high crit build, and you gear your Scoundrel equally, take the last skill that gives you both a 10% damage buff if either of you crits, and go have fun (likely applicable to some DHs playing with Sharpshooter).

If you need some equal defense and offense, the Enchantress wins, with the +3% Attack Speed, +15% Armor, and up to 2 CCs all at once (Charm + Disorient).

Still not sure how worthwhile the Templar is in end-game...

While lower in the primary stat section (gloves can easily roll up to 200~ in one stat), the Crit and IAS on those is nice, plus the resists.

This also depends the class you play.

As a monk, you pick one singular element, and stack the crap out of it.

As any other class, since we don't get that amazing passive Monks do, you could look at what you biggest threat is:

Fire - Molten, Mortar, Fire Chains
    Arcane - Arcane Enhanced
    Cold - Frozen
    Poison - Plagued

So that will easily tell you why Fire is a little more pricy: It covers more powers (many of which are generally annoying). I mean I wanted to cry when I got the Fast + Mortar + Molten + Fire Chains pack a few days ago... dear GOD.

posted a message on what will you do when crit is nerfed?
Blizz already said that they are fine with where Critical Chance/Damage is right now.

It's not breaking the game, it doesn't play insanely with other stats like IAS did with Life on Hit and Resource Generation.

It meshes well with some mechanics, like Wizard's "Criticals restore X Arcane Power", but you can't get your crit chance up to like 70-80%+.

Improved Attack Speed was a little high, when a DW Monk could get their Attacks Per Second up to 3.25 or around there. That is ridiculous: Getting off a full combo (and a bit of a following swing) in ONE second.

posted a message on Why do people use LoH
    Quote from Haylel

the reason it can end up good though is life steal is all damage, so if you're standing in the middle of 20 mobs with sweeping winds hitting them all (and possibly cyclones if you're running that rune) that 240hp becomes 4800hp per tick of sweeping winds, and that's before you start punching things.
Life on Hit is nearly the same.

Meteor - ~60% of Life on Hit returned per enemy hit, per Meteor (This applies to every Meteor except the Meteor Shower rune I believe)

So, if my LoH total is 1000, I get 600 back from each enemy hit by my single casting of Meteor.

If a skill can hit more targets, it is actually better for Life on Hit, than if it only hits one.

posted a message on Why do people use LoH
    Blizzard's logic is sadly this:

Life on Hit is better right now, cause we aren't doing the DPS we should/eventually will be.

Damage converted to Life will be better once we start hitting harder.

Should Damage converted to Life not be up to par in a month or so (which it won't be, the math just doesn't support it), they will likely buff it (I could see them removing the difficulty penalty from it).

Their words, not mine, are that Damage converted to Life is one of those stats that breaks the game once you can make it work. However, when we only get 0.8% of the gain, which is NOT indicated anywhere in the UI or anything, it is a bit annoying.

Yes, Life on Hit has it's own reductions (each ability returns a different percent, based on area of the attack, targets hit, etc.), but it scales very well, very easily.

posted a message on What's the point of uniques if you can't use them ?
They are fixing Legendary items (or as you dubbed them from the D2 naming, Uniques). It won't be til patch 1.1, but I can see us seeing that by end of summer.

They have already said they have plans for not only doing flat upgrades in stats on the Legendary/Set items (especially in terms of DPS), but also to bring in alot more unique capabilities to the items, that you will never see on a rare item.

THey have also stated that all Legendary and Set items will not be retroactively changed, so what you find now, will remain as it is, even after the patch. This is the same as it was in Diablo 2.

Did we also forget that PvP will have no ranking system, no ladder, no rewards (aside from some achievements/banner elements)?

There is a matchmaking system, but it is will just go based on gear.

Blizzard said they do not want PvP to be about wins and losses, and about making it serious. It's for fun. That is all. Making something more out of it, than it will be, is the same reason people were complaining about the game being so bad: You made such huge expectations that it couldn't possibly live up to it.

first 100 hours were fun, then its hours and hours of endless farming with tons of trash and no rewards

Someone didn't play Diablo 2... Titan's Quest... Torchlight... Diablo... Darkspore... or any other game in the ARPG genre it seems.

The drops will generally be piss-poor. I've now offically found my FIRST 1000+ DPS weapon in Inferno, like 2hrs ago. I've been in Inferno since the 2nd week. Go back and play Diablo 2, and tell me how "great" the drops are in comparison. Don't go with "what you remember". Go back and play it NOW, and compare. You will be shocked.

posted a message on Stealth Quality Drop Rate Nerf?
    Quote from harleq01

    1. His post doesn't even answer the question. It doesn't matter whether we're talking about "elites," "champs," or "uniques". We can agree that they all have the same drop rate.

    2. If we're going to go into this. "uniques" or "rare bosses" are actually the yellow ones. "Champions" are actually the blue mobs. Anyone who has played d2 knows this. Also this is confirmed in Diablowiki.

    3. Again there is no distinct difference in item drop rate between champion packs and unique packs. So who cares about the difference in their sames? As farm as I'm concerned, they're all "rare" "unique" "champ" "boss" "special" packs

1: No, they do not actually. Uniques are different from Champions, Rares, and Bosses.
2: Yes, they are, but Rares and Uniques, while they both glow yellow, are different. A Unique's name is in pruple, and he has a title, no listed powers (though they can still have powers). A Rare's name is in yellow and he has listed powers.
3: Yes, there is a difference. The fact that Uniques were changed and Champions/Rares were not is proof as to why. Plus Uniques are not affected by Nephalem Valor in any way.

posted a message on Stealth Quality Drop Rate Nerf?
Drop rates were not touched at any point in the game prior to Act 3/4 of Hell difficulty (where they were improved).

Drop rates of ilevel 62/63 gear in Act 3/4 Inferno were technically nerfed, but will be fixed in the next day or so with 1.0.3b.

    Champions
    - Blue guys (as they were called in Diablo 2)
    - Count towards the achievements "The Takedown", "Not So Tough Now" and "Champion's Collection"
    - Give 1 stack of Nephalem Valor, guaranteed 1 rare drop at 5-stacks.

    Rares
    - Yellow guys (1 elite leader, with a pack of minions sharing most of his powers)
    - Count towards the achievements "Keep It Rare", "Rarin' to Go" and "A Rare Phenomenon"
    - Give 1 stack of Nephalem Valor, guaranteed 1 rare drop at 5-stacks.

    Uniques
    - Guys that glow yellow but got a purple name and no listed powers.
    - Count towards the achievements "Never Seen That Before", "Special Snowflakes" and "A Unique Collection"
    - Does NOT give 1 stack of Nephalem Valor, guaranteed 1 blue drop on death (after 1.0.3 but prior to 1.0.3a they almost exclusively dropped gold only, this was an unintended bug and has been fixed)

    Elites
    - Umbrella category for all the above 3 sub-groups
    - Kills of any enemy of the 3 sub-groups is counted towards the achievements "Among The Elite", "The Elitist", "Elitist Bubble", "Elitist Jerks", and "Elitist Few".
