posted a message on Buffing CM tank spec
I'm toying around with different CM uber tanking builds, and I'm trying to bring as many debuffs as possible. Goal is to be the utility knife of the grp at the cost of my personal dps.

    http://us.battle.net...QXYgi!beg!YZcZZ

I'm thinking that build, getting +%10 from conflag (ala unruned or mammoth hydra), +%20 from time warp, along with having wormhole in the build to get on the ubers quickly.

    Thoughts?

On a side note: Attack speed is fun!

Should my next upgrade be a weapon? Lately I've just been staring at memptos hoping one with crit will be posted for cheap, with no luck...

and every other slot an upgrade is either 1000mil+ or more of a side grade. I even have a pair of innas temperance, but at the cost of 5k dps...I like my survivability.

Guess my post is just asking which slot of mine is behind the most? (archon farming gear on atm) and is there any chance of getting a meaningful upgrade in the 100mil range?

My Arcane Destruction Archon can crit close to 5 million :D

Especially fun when I use it on a Reflect pack and 1-shot myself.

Imagine what that could be if you actually used a .9 swing speed high crit dmg/high int 2-h mace

I'm a bit baffled at how I can see wizards breaking even the 350k mark in terms of dps, it seems that every upgrade I look at nowadays costs hundreds of millions and according to spread sheets gives me a 10k dps gain at max.

Also how is it that high dps wizards can survive against reflect dmg mobs in high mp lvls, even in archon form? or god forbid if they come across them while archon is on cd for whatever reason.

I did mp7 full clear with a group i found in trade chat using that build.

Had a barb tank and a monk that could tank if needed as well, but the burst aoe of archon is a godsend on the adds in skeleton, and seeker missile is great for gohm when you want to shoot around corners. Choose any hydra you want, but in 2/3 fights there are adds and the third one your target is always moving so I don't see much advantage in choosing poison if you're clearing all 3 in the same game.

On a side note I just grabbed myself a nice magic missile SoJ....I forgot that ubers were considered elites.

In inferno with MP1 the only difference between items that drop of diff iLVLs will be the graphical model.
The base values should also still be different. An ilvl 63 Chest (Archon) should still roll higher base armor values than ilvl 58-62.

I'm not 100% sure on that though, haven't played the PTR.

Then by that logic, weapons of an ilvl60 or below will still have a lower base damage than the rest. Interesting

That is the way I understood it as well. i63 armor will still have more armor value than i61. However, they can roll the same max crit/resist/primary stat, etc.

This would've been a bigger deal for weapons, however, I think they allowed i61 weapons to roll i63 damage in a prior patch so I think it only effects armor?

except wepaons can still drop in inferno with ilvl58-60

posted a message on Will ALL stats on legendaries scale up to ilvl63 now?
I know that blizzard specifically called out and mentioned that the random affixes on legendaries will scale with the monster level that it dropped form, but what about the guaranteed stats?

For example Echoing fury (http://us.battle.net...em/echoing-fury), which is ilvl62

One of the guaranteed affixes is +%36-%40 Damage, if a new one drops off a lvl 63 mob will that affix have a chance to roll up to %50 now? (the max for an ilvl63 weapon)

posted a message on "Adds X% to Y damage" Stat, 1.0.4 vs 1.0.5
I've heard that they're changing how this stat calculates its damage, and I would like a clarification if anyone has the knowledge.

On live, 1.0.4, as far as I know it works like this:

Weapon: 200-350 dmg physical, 1 sec swing speed, all physical
Buff: Adds %10 to Fire Damage

    Before buff weapon dps:
    (350+200)/2 * 1 swing/sec = 275 dps

    After buff weapon dps:
    [320+(200+2*200*0.1)]/2 *1 swing/sec = 295 dps (20 dps fire 275 dps physical)

The odd thing being that instead of averaging max and min damage values to calculate the elemental damage, it takes twice the min damage, multiplies it by the elemental factor, and adds it back to your min dmg.

My current understanding on 1.0.5 is that it works like this now:

    After buff weapon dps:
    [(350+350*.1)+(200+200*.1)]/2 * 1 swing/sec = 302.5 dps

    Is this accurate?

Edited: equations for how it should work

"Affixes on items will now roll their level based on the level of the monster killed (rather than the item's level). This now applies to random affixes on Legendary items"

That's the wording in the patch notes, but what does that mean when you turn on MP1 in inferno(all lvl 63 monsters) for rares that drop?

Will every item that drops be ilvl 63?

or does this just mean that the ilvl distribution will be same as act3 inferno (on 1.0.4) no matter what you kill in inferno on MP1?

I'm hearing people saying that they're holding off on buying a weapon until after the patch, but I don't understand why you'd hold off on anything except for rings/ammys
