MP-8 is no problem at all...MP-9 not bad at all. Mp-10 is pretty good for the most part, but, I do get killed more than I'd like. Keep in mind, I am not a "farmer" type of player...I'm a kill everything that moves. I play from beginning of Acts to the end; if it take s a couple hours, I doont care.
I'm not having much trouble killing stuff on MP-10, but, something is missing in the surviability category and I can't put my finger on it, and I know there are plenty of you great WD Guru's who can steer me in the right direction.
You have low resistance and armor (500 roughly buy my count). 750 minimum resistance and 4k armor is what i'd recommend for mp10 bats build. Run spirit vessel for extra survivability. Your life is fine.
ditch those pants ASAP and get some rare with AR and armor, other than that, i'd say swap out manitou for zombie dogs life link.... get the healing journey on spirit walk too... focus more on gathering monsters, and channeling til everyhting on the screen is dead... don't move, that's what gets you killed... once you get that CoB goin, you shouldn't ever have a problem. also, if you take a look at the build i use, i don't die anymore.
I'm new to WD myself, so take whatever I say with the proverbial grain 'o' salt.
However I feel sometimes people become too fixated on gear and forget about the skills.
My WD gear is still in it's infancy, much to do there. But I was having serious survival issues myself, while maintaining a good kill speed. My vita is terrible and my resists are too low, that much I know. I'm just gonna have to wait until I get some coins to upgrade, or until I start having better luck crafting. Excuse the Inna's pants, I'm searching for a replacement as we speak for better vita/AR.
I was running a Toads/Bears build using BBV. BBV is great, sometimes. 2 minute cooldown, limited radius.....total waste if you die. I wanted to look at other ways to take down elites instead of using a skill slot just for the DPS/APS buff. I was dying too much.
I set my passives up for pure mana regen and thought that if I could maintain Plague Bats near 100%, than a secondary attack was unnecessary.
I use Horrify w/ Frightening Aspect rune for the double armor buff, really works great and with Grave Injustice Passive, it's easy to keep it up at approx a 60-70% uptime. Horrify causes enemies to run away, we all know that. Sometimes this is great as a panic button. Gives you time to reset, come off cooldown and regen mana. However, if you don't want them running off after triggering Horrify, rather, you just want the armor buff, I use Mass Confusion immediately after triggering Horrify.
This stops them from running off and leaves them shut-down right where you're standing, essentially nullifying the fear aspect while still granting you the 100% armor buff.
My only attack is Plague Bats, and it's very rare that I go dry on mana.
The crux of the build I'm using now is meant to just spam Bats while giving me two 'panic' options in Horrify and MC, not to mention the sweet armor buff.
If I was better geared, I'd go for Big Bad Voodoo. As of now, it just seems a waste. Radius is often hard to stay inside of (hello arcanes + waller), if you die, it's gone for 2 minutes. Frankly, the DPS buff it gives doesn't seem as effective as being able to shut elites down with Horrify + Mass Confusion.
^Running grave injustice greatly lowers the cool down of paranoia and BBV. If you're farming, with the density changes, Paranoia often resets itself in one large horde of enemies, bbv about two.

Agreed. I'm still in the dark about much of the WD's abilities, but I simply cannot see myself running without Grave Injustice. Huge huge mobs and I barely see my mana or health even budge a tick. As well, after 1 big mob, all cooldowns are either reset or near reset.
Well, after a couple of changes, I've gotten my resists up to 816-896, my armor is at 4180, and my life is at 70k...gave up about 4k dmg but she's rolling pretty good now, aside from those pain-in-the-ass elite Grotesques with knockback AND Vortex!! Bastiges! lol
Appreciate you kind folks' suggestions!

Something I was curious about. What's the differential between you using a ruby or emerald in your weapon? Since you are using a sword you may find you survive more consistently using a ruby... Provided that the difference in DPS is not huge.
Else, I'd say you're on the right path. I might suggest taking spiritual attunement over blood ritual. With a Zuni helm equipped, they end up being about the same, but attunement will give you a larger mana pool, and more greatly lessens the impact of long duration channeling.
Edit: I might also suggest dropping spirit vessel for gruesome feast. With 6 pickup radius, it allows you to get some big mana and health heals without moving, plus you get the super sweet bonus DPS, which will make everything a bit smoother.

I think blood ritual provides more mana overall as each spell your saving 30 mana per initial cost + 10 per channel (this is just for plague bats and were not considering any other spell which costs more than the channeling) compared to 8-12 mana per sec from attunemnt. I think it's safe to assume that a players AS will be higher than 1, e.g. 1.3 X 10 mana per cast = 13 mana per sec.
The extra life regen from blood ritual is a nice bonus, especially when your life is over 50K.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
Yep blood ritual over attunement anyday. The life regen with high life is a nice factor.
To the OP, your build looks great now. You shouldn't have any issues except for some of those annoying mobs. If you're having any mana issues, I'd recommend a mojo with 10+ mana regen on it.
@ RasAlgethi24 - Thanks. I hated giving up the life I had on my Ta'ls ammy, but, my crafted one had perfect AR plus a nice armor bonus. Managed to find fairly decent pants and zuni boots with armor bonuses. Was leery of swapping out Gruesome Feast for Spirit Vessel at first, but once I did, "WOW". My favorite part of that skill is the cooldown bonuse on my Spirit Walk n Soul Harvest, very handy thing to have. The "saving my bacon" part is just a bonus! lol MP-10 is now very doable, aside from the occasional knockback/vortex-affixed elites.
I experimented with a black sword and a mojo(didnt have mana regen tho) and the extra AS did burn my mana quicker, but that was the only drawback. I will definitely look out for that combination tho along my journeys.
Thanks to all for your suggestions!

PS- I know my gear isn't endall-beat all
