Thats what you see of Tristram in D2. The walls were added in for D2 so that you couldn't reach certain areas. They specifically mention in some kind of cinematic or something (although it could just be my memory) that the cathedral was mysteriously not destroyed in the fire that consumed Tristram. And the Cathedral could have been on a hill in D1. A good chunk of A5 in D2 is on a mountain and you barely notice it because of the 2D. They just can't make it seem like you're at certain elevations.
But yes, the cathedral is all entact. In the Blizzcon 2008 demo you entered the dungeons below it by going down the hole that the meteor leaves behind, so even after that hit its still standing. What I wouldn't give for just a bit of story info...even though I know I'd rather wait until I play the game to know the story.
So everytime you cast the blow dart your shield automatically teleports to your back or is there an animation of the WD placing it on his back...?
Im kinda worried about this. Though it can be as some said that when you change to your secondary weapons your first weapon set goes to your back.
Well if the WD has his shield on his back while casting it would basically end up being on his back for most of his time in combat, so its not like he'll just be switching between shield holstered and on his arm.
The same thing happens when the barbarian uses hammer of the ancients, one handed weapons go to his waist, and the shield and two handed weapons go to his back for a second.

Maybe they added blow darts as a weapon for the WD?
Just wondering.
Watch this vid on youtube in 720p: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrUr4I7zkew . Between 13:15 and 13:30, take a close look at the WD as he is casting. It's pretty obvious that his shield and weapon switch to his back and then back to his hand/arm in a millisecond. There's no animation of him placing it on his back, its just an automated visual quickswitch. Hope this answered your question.
I watched again the cinematic trailer and as it seems the meteor is heading directly towards the cathe-dral but is it really? And how this meteor didn’t destroy the entire cathedral? I have my doubts…
The BlizzCon 2008 Demo featured the Cathedral as a playable area, and in every level there was a hole where the meteor went through!
It is not supposed to be a meteor the size of the one that destroyed the dinosaurs, it is supposed to be "someone" coming down from the skies!
Yeah I think the dinosaur meteorite was at least a mile or two across. Interestingly the Dinosaurs were more or less out for the count when the meteorite hit. It only sealed their fate. They had been in decline for a long time before due to climate change and large volcanic eruptions in India (as was).
@ Snillum Technically the eruptions can't be placed exactly enough to say they were killing the dinosaurs before the comet (some people think the Deccan Traps were caused by the impact), but still true about the decline bit.
Anyway, I think the instant stowing of gear won't be a problem especially since they put thought into were it goes when it gets stowed. Also, am I the only one who is wondering why there is no interface on the bottom of so many screen-shots? I'd love to see that part of it at least as much as the action portion of the screen!

If that made sense to you, Bravo! I think I even confused myself...
