EDIT: On topic, nice quick summary with appropriate details. I still liked your old name better.

Nah no beta for me, I thought your old name had a better "ring" to it ha-ha. I'll cope, honestly with everything going on in life plus a few older games I'm finishing up I can occupy myself till the summer. Considering people max a character in a couple of hours and beat the skeleton king at level one I'm not that jealous of beta people; likely having the beta would drive me nuts since I want the full version that much more. I'm still avoiding spoilers as much as I can, but it’s nice to see what people think of the UI and mechanics.

yea ive come to feel what most ppl with beta feel. worse then before i had beta, because at least there was that false hope it was going to be awesome just playing the beta, then it turns out to be a big fat tease. although it does make you feel more apart of whats going on with the development which is nice. but ya i finished my first playthrough in liek 40 min cuz i blew through the quests, didnt read anything and skipped site seeing. diablo for me is all about the mass destruction of as many demons as possible.

The main reason I want beta is so I can pick which char I'd like to make first... I'm seriously torn and it may be based on a flip of a coin. I was initially thinking Monk but after all the reviews kind of saddened by the lack of spamming available for the spirit spenders. I'm thinking DH or WD but not sure which one yet.

well it seems the monk is an aquired taste, you either love him or hate him. i found him powerful but boring to play, others say hes the most fun so its personal choice. although i loved diablo 2 i hated how you basically only used 1-2 spells 90% of the time with any viable build. and the monk feels like that, you just dash and use a spirit generator 90% of the time so it feels like the old broken D2 playstyle, where most of the other classes will constantly rotate different abilities and the person i found who rotates the most is the WD which is why i like him the most.

-Hot bar:
the health and resource globes look pretty sweet
We are in agreement here, I only wish the whole hotbar were smaller...even on 1080 its large.
i've actually heard this a couple times; What's your monitors size? I know it shouldn't matter but maybe either it's a bug or I just don't see it. In my case (27" monitor) it seems perfect to me, maybe a bit on the small side.
Edit: Well moving the screen from my main 27" to my 24" secondary does indeed change proportions wise (put a tape measure to my screen lol). Hmm idk maybe I'm just used to it
Im using a 42" monitor which is a bit excessive I admit, still the hotbar looks to take up a very sizable chunk of my lower screen. No big deal really just nit-picking
I love when people say they don't like the Monk. Since he will be my first choice and not very many people will be playing him in the beginning I will start stocking up on high level Monk items so when people DO play him I will be rich be-otch.
Wtih far fewer of the population playing the monk, then it would lower the value of their gear. But what you have suggested would only make sense if he suddenly became popular. And the only way that would happen is if they made the monk not suck, aka reduce spirit spenders, or increase spirit regen.

yea i didnt care to respond to his backwards thinking lol. the barb and wiz gear will always be on top in price because they are by far the most popular. the DH gear will be uber cheap because hes #5 by a large margin. so lucky DH players.... lol. since my main will be WD itll be nice having cheaper gear since hes #4

I wish people would understand that the Monk is in very very early stages of the game, he gains spirit back with every hit, and doubles that with some passives, he is not as bad as people think, they are judging without playing.

lol... his playstyle isnt going to drastically change later all of his generators generate the same amount unless golden runed of course but even then its not enough. his spirit spenders also cost too much. they would have to tripple his spirit generation for it to work

Negitive, he has spirit generators and spirit spenders, you are not suppose to spam his spending talents, some of them you can though, and they hit HARD, so it doesn't matter it generates the same speed as the Barb.

For the AH you just search gear for your class and it picks stuff with your primary attributes. That's the default. When you pick attributes from the drop-down you are simply adding more criteria to the default (primary attributes).
really? it seemed to show random stuff with str when i was searching for my WD... gotta try it again
I haven't played recently so maybe it's bugged this patch *shrug*

yes I have, and you're starting to seem like you've only played the monk once till level 4.
with a 2hand weapon, the monk gets 20% increase to his spirit generators as well as his passive which gives gives him 1 spirit every second one of your mantras is active...thats huge.
He is a burst character, you raise his spirit up and then BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM, continue to beat on them with your first styles to generate then BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM again, on top of that you can golden ruin your exploding palm skill so that each one that blows up gives you 4 spirit FOR EACH enemy that is hit from the explosion.

Then again his Spirit Gens are pretty good to begin with. I think the Monk is ment to spend most of his time using the Combo Skills... also they seem to be way better than the other classes generating skills. The question is if people still feel "powerful" if they spend 75% of the game spamming the generators
honestly they could easily fix the monk with some minor tweaks. make dash generate spirit instead of spend it and add a CD to it and slightly reduce the cost of his more powerful moves. those two small changes would drastically improve his playstyle. its just not fun spending 80% of the time using generators as i said in my OP

I agree on the dash one, make it like charge, only the more enemies you hit the more spirit is produced.

So you're saying in the whole 10+ years that Diablo 3 will (most likely) be popular that people won't want to play the monk to level 60/max level just to do it? And people who just want to play it to play it probably won't want to spend the time to find the high level items (if you don't believe me look at all the people paying to get items from third party sites). And when that time comes that people want to play him/her the ones who have been playing them since day 1 will set the price.
Personal example. I HATE the amazon and barb from DII, but I've had multiples of both just to toss it up from the other characters.

huh? dude are you familiar with the concept of SUPPLY and DEMAND? amount of ppl wanting something = amount of price. if you set the price of an item too high for an unliked class no one will buy it, and someone will quickly come and way undercut your price so ppl will actually buy it. your forgetting this game will have MILLIONS of players, possibly in the tens of millions. and even the most unliked class will still have tons of gear on the AH but it will cost less then the more popular classes. always. someone may be an idiot and throw something up on there for an ungodly price because idiots always do, but someone always undercuts them immediately
The thing is I think its inteded that you spend so much time with your Combo Skills. If you change the things you mentioned the Monk is basically the same as the Barb...
Is it a good thing that you spend so much time with your Combo Strikes? I dunno... cant test it without Beta. You dont like the way it is right now... then again many people like it...
i know they intended him to be this way, its why spirit doesnt degenerate and you have a bigger pool. i just dont like that playstyle, some people do yes but a lot of people dont, its why hes unliked by a lot of people for exactly that reason.

I'm very happy using generators there are so many ways to combine their effects; buff, debuffs, teleport, aoe and single target skills.
